fromis_9 starts anew as quintet, keeps name
Five members of fromis_9 signaled a new beginning Wednesday via the new agency ASND.
The company uploaded a teaser trailer including a 'We Miss You' message as well as photographs of each member dressed in black.
The girl group fromis_9 parted ways with Pledis Entertainment when their contracts ended in December 2024. Five members of the eight-member act signed with the new management company in February but hinted that they were struggling to keep the group name as late as mid-March. However, they managed to reach an agreement recently, said ASND, thanking Pledis Entertainment.
The group debuted in 2018 as a nonet formed through an audition show, and member Jang Gyuri left in 2022 to pursue an acting career. Lee Saerom, Lee Seoyeon and Roh Jisun decided to go separate ways after performing the track 'Supersonic' together for the last time on a year-end music show last year.

Hoshi X Woozi to hold first fan concert
The duo to rock the stage before enlistment Seventeen's special unit Hoshi X Woozi is set to host its first-ever "fan concerts." The duo will kick off their 'Warning" series of fan concerts, which combine elements of fan meetings and full concerts, with three days of shows at Seoul's Jamsil Indoor Stadium from July 11 to 13, according to Pledis Entertainment on Friday. Formed on March 10, Hoshi X Woozi is a duo made up of Seventeen's same-age 1996-liner members known for its creative, playful chemistry. During Seventeen's full-group fan meeting 'Seventeen in Carat Land' on March 21, Hoshi revealed, 'Woozi and I have received our enlistment dates. We're scheduled to enlist later this year.' Before they begin their service, the duo will also appear at 'KCON LA 2025,' taking place in Los Angeles from Aug. 1–3. Meanwhile, Seventeen's fifth full-length album "Happy Burstday," released on May 26, sold over 2.52 million copies in its first week, making it the highest first-week sales for any K-pop album released this year, according to Hanteo Chart. The group also performed the title track 'Thunder' on NBC's The Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday.

Seventeen sets this year's first-week sales record
The fifth studio album from Seventeen sold the most copies in its first week of any K-pop album this year, said agency Pledis Entertainment on Monday. LP 'Happy Burstday' logged over 2.52 million units in the period, after exceeding 2 million on the day of release, also a first this year. The album topped a series of music charts abroad, including Oricon's Daily Album Ranking while main track 'Thunder' landed atop Melon's Top 100. The 16-track album does mark the band's 10th anniversary but is a 'bold claim that Seventeen isn't just celebrating the past but charging headfirst like a buffalo into a new territory,' wrote Billboard magazine. It is 'a stepping stone between the past and future, celebrating their growth over past decade and the transformation that's yet to come,' said NME magazine.

I'm also thankful to my fellow members — we recently had a long talk, and I feel like we've grown even closer. Q: What's been Seventeen's most defining challenge? Woozi: We've constantly taken on challenges. Even now, it's not easy to produce our own albums while actively promoting. But we chose not to settle even for our 10th anniversary, and pushed ourselves musically. That's what makes Seventeen a team with limitless potential. Jun: All 13 of us are always thinking of ways to grow and try new things, driven by our love for Carats. Their support has always been our biggest motivation. Q: What do you want to challenge yourselves with next? I want to find more time to repay the love we've received.
