Mother, child seriously injured in six-vehicle accident at Bukit Subang
SHAH ALAM: A multi-vehicle road accident involving a lorry, three cars, a van, and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) occurred near the Bukit Subang traffic lights at the Guthrie Corridor Expressway exit yesterday, seriously injuring a woman and her young child.
Sungai Buloh police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said preliminary findings, supported by dashcam footage, indicate that the lorry, travelling from Batu Arang towards Cyberjaya, lost control upon reaching the intersection.
"The lorry first struck a Proton Saga BLM. The initial impact set off a chain reaction, causing the Proton Saga to collide with four other vehicles in an adjacent lane heading in the same direction," he said in a statement today.
Two passengers of the Proton Saga, a 29-year-old woman and her four-year-old child, suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The lorry driver has been detained for further investigation.
Members of the public who witnessed the incident or have relevant information are urged to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Inspector Azie Azyantie Mohd Rafae at 013-6756317 or the Sungai Buloh district police operations room at 03-61561222.
