Hulk Hogan Day becomes official as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis orders flags down on August 1
In a heartfelt move to celebrate Hogan's legacy, Gov. DeSantis ordered flags across the state to be flown at half-staff on Friday, August 1, from sunrise to sunset. The directive includes the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee and all state and local government buildings throughout Pinellas County, in the region Hogan called home for much of his life.
'In honor of a great Floridian, Hulk Hogan, we are lowering the flags at the capitol and Pinellas County tomorrow,' DeSantis stated. 'Additionally, officially declaring tomorrow, August 1st, 2025, as 'Hulk Hogan Day' in Florida.'
The wrestler, who was born in Augusta, Georgia, moved to Tampa at a young age and soon became a central figure in Florida's cultural landscape. His career began in 1977 and reached legendary status after joining WWE, where his larger-than-life persona, unforgettable catchphrases, and red-and-yellow gear made him a household name across generations.
Hogan passed away on July 24 following a cardiac arrest. Emergency responders were called to his Clearwater home at 9:51 a.m. He was pronounced dead at 11:17 a.m. at a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed there were no signs of foul play. 'I strongly encourage everyone to keep the family in their thoughts, and please respect their privacy during this difficult time,' said Clearwater Police Maj. Nate Burnside.

Inducted twice into the WWE Hall of Fame, first in 2005 and again in 2020 with the New World Order, he became one of the most recognized faces in sports entertainment. WWE acknowledged his passing with a tribute on social media: 'WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans.'
A post on Hogan's official Facebook page read, 'May we all take solace in the wonderful memories he left behind for the millions of fans worldwide whose lives he touched for more than four decades.
He will be missed, but never forgotten.'
DeSantis' official memo emphasized Hogan's deep ties to Florida and noted his influence on both state pride and national pop culture. 'His larger-than-life personality will be missed, as the 'Hulkster' was an icon for many who grew up in the 80s and 90s as well as today,' it read. 'He was a true Floridian through and through.'

Not just WWE executive Triple H, this AEW star too has a strong connection with Donald Trump

WWE executive Triple H recently became the talk of the town when he was spotted at the White House as President Donald Trump signed an order to restore the Presidential Fitness Test. 'The Game' has a strong association with him. In fact, he is married to Stephanie McMahon. 'The Princess' is the daughter of Linda McMahon, the current Secretary of Education. This makes him her son-in-law. Donald Trump's association with pro-wrestling, however, goes beyond just the McMahon family. He also has a history with a current All Elite Wrestling star. Bobby Lashley has a connection with Donald Trump Bobby Lashley is one of the most recognisable faces on the AEW roster today. 'The Almighty' is part of the dominant Hurt Syndicate and has impressed many with his intensity. He was an integral part of WWE before becoming a force to be reckoned with in Tony Khan's promotion. During his initial run with the Stamford-based company, Lashley was involved in the high-profile 'Battle of the Billionaires' at WrestleMania 23 in 2007. The feud saw him represent Donald Trump and take on Umaga, Vince McMahon's pick. Steve Austin served as the 'special guest referee'. The match proved to be a slobber-knocker as both powerhouses hit each other with their best moves and brought their A-game to the table. During a key moment, Trump even delivered a clothesline to Vince McMahon to level the odds. In the end, Lashley beat Umaga. Following this, Trump shaved Vince's hair as per the pre-match stipulation. Busy time for Bobby Lashley and Triple H Coming back to the present, Lashley is working with AEW and is one of the senior members of the roster. He's also the current one of the World Tag Team Champions alongside Shelton Benjamin. They successfully defended the gold in July in a three-way tag match at All In. Triple H, on the other hand, is the current head of the WWE main roster creative team. His decision to turn John Cena heel in March was one of the biggest talking points of the month. He, however, received flak for the poorly-received WrestleMania 41 main event. The match saw Cena beat Cody Rhodes with Travis Scott's help to capture the WWE Undisputed Championship

'I've been saying the same thing for 25 years: They deal 'em, I play 'em,' he said. 'They've got to continue their programming… for the dozen of them I got left, they deal 'em, I play 'em.' His focus is on delivering for fans in the matches that remain. Triple H confirmed that facing Lesnar was at the top of Cena's 'wishlist' for his farewell run. 'This is John Cena's wishlist…it's him writing the last chapter of his book,' he said. From the start, Triple H asked, 'Who do you want, and how?'—and Lesnar was the answer. Why does Brock Lesnar's return matter? For WWE, Lesnar's presence changes the game. 'The dynamic… changes when 'The Beast' is here,' Triple H told reporters. 'Anything you thought was happening goes out the window.' Beyond the shock factor, the company views Lesnar's return as a 'massive' moment for fans who thought they'd seen the last of him.
