Ohio State Athletic Director Ross Bjork meets with media to discuss state of program
College athletics continue to be transformed at breakneck speed. Over the last few years, we've seen conferences re-align, Name, Image and Likeness become prevalent and extremely meaningful, the transfer portal turn college athletics into free-agency, and now, we have direct revenue sharing taking center stage after the approval of the House Settlement.
With all of that going on, and with the recent news that will again change things, Ohio State Athletic Director Director Ross Bjork took some time to meet with the media to give a state of college athletics, what it means for Ohio State, and provide some direction of the program given the size and impact of such a massive athletic department. He also took time to field some questions from the media that made their way to the banks of the Olentangy.
It was a long and wide-ranging press conference, but we felt it necessary to provide the full video and audio of Bjork's time at the podium on Thursday to give you the full scale of all of his comments. Watch and listen to Bjork discuss things like the House Settlement, how revenue sharing will be funded, expanding the College Football Playoff, the status of night games, and much more.
Thanks to WBNS 10TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus for the video.
This won't be the last time we hear from Bjork with the everchanging landscape of college athletics. Ohio State had a really good AD with Gene Smith prior to Bjork's arrival, and so far the newest AD seems to know what he's doing and is ready to also knock it out of the park.

Spartans listed as new favorite to beat out Wisconsin for priority 3-star WR prospect

Spartans listed as new favorite to beat out Wisconsin for priority 3-star WR prospect It's a battle between Michigan State and Wisconsin for a notable wide receiver prospect right now, and it appears things may be swaying in the Spartans' favor all of a sudden. A few weeks ago it looked like three-star wide receiver Zachary Washington was heading to Madison, Wisc. to continue his football career, but the latest intel from On3 suggests things may have shifted in the Spartans' favor. While Washington -- who hails from Wheaton, Ill. -- still has crystal ball predictions in favor of Wisconsin on 247Sports from last week, the Spartans are now listed as the clear-cut favorite to land his commitment on competitor recruiting site On3. On On3, Michigan State currently holds an 85% chance to land his commitment, while Wisconsin is only at 8% and West Virginia at 3%. Washington is a three-star prospect with an 87 recruiting rating on 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 111 wide receiver in the class and No. 883 overall prospect in the country. He is considered one of the top priorities at wide receiver for the Spartans in the 2026 class. Michigan State hosted Washington for an official visit last weekend, which came one week after he visited Wisconsin. He will reportedly take an official visit to West Virginia this weekend as well. There is no known commitment date for Washington at this time, but it sounds like these are the three teams he is focused on within his recruiting. So with all three official visits completed after this weekend, we could certainly see a college announcement coming in the next few weeks. Michigan State has been hot on the recruiting trail lately with eight commits since the start of June. The Spartans have seen their class move up the charts thanks to this latest flurry with Michigan State now ranking No. 34 nationally at the posting of this article. The addition of Washington to this class would only further this surge from the Spartans on the recruiting trail. Indiana Fever clear Caitlin Clark for WNBA return

Indiana Fever clear Caitlin Clark for WNBA return On the eve of the Indiana Fever's (4-5) high-profile Saturday matchup against the New York Liberty (9-0), head coach Stephanie White provided a promising update on guards Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham's recovery status. Clark has been out since suffering a left quadriceps strain against the Liberty on May 24, while Cunningham has been absent with a right ankle injury sustained during the team's May 31 loss to the Connecticut Sun. On Friday, White informed the mass of reporters that both Clark and Cunningham would be available for the team on Saturday, barring any unexpected regression in their final tune-ups. Despite the positive recovery news for Clark and Cunningham, White also said the team is expected to be without forward DeWanna Bonner, who has been away for personal reasons. With the extended rest for both Clark and Cunningham, as the two were held out of Tuesday's game in Atlanta, the reintegration of the star guards should significantly help the Fever's offensive efficiency, as Indiana has averaged 77.6 points per game during Clark's absence and 74 points per game following Cunningham's injury. Saturday's game against the undefeated Liberty squad will be held at 2 p.m. CT from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis as part of WNBA Commissioner's Cup action. The premier matchup between the two talented franchises will be broadcast on ABC. Urban Meyer: Percy Harvin is 'the greatest player to put on a helmet'

Between Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State, Urban Meyer has seen remarkable talent on the football field. Over his 17 years of coaching at the collegiate level, one player stands out as the "greatest." Meyer boasts a star-studded roster of players who made it to the NFL, including Tim Tebow, Cam Newton and Terry McLaurin. He also coached Joey Bosa, Taylor Decker, Ezekiel Elliott and Michael Thomas, all of whom were on Ohio State's national championship team in 2014. Yet, the player Meyer considers the greatest is former Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin. Meyer led the Gators from 2005-2010, and Harvin played for the team from 2006-08, winning two BCS national championships. In a recent episode of "The Triple Option" podcast, Meyer spoke to FOX broadcasters Mark Ingram and Rob Stone about Harvin. "I've said this and not many people disagree who watched him, or played against him, or played with him," Meyer said . "I think he's arguably the greatest player to put on a helmet. He's the most violent runner I've ever had, and Mark, he never got hit. We used to say he'd have eyes on the side and the back of his head. He was extremely smart." Throughout his career at Gainesville, Harvin was a threat both in the air and on the ground. He recorded 133 receptions for 1,929 yards and 13 touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,852 yards and 19 touchdowns. Harvin holds the Florida record for most career yards rushing by a wide receiver (1,852) and the most rushing yards in a single season by a receiver (858 yards in 2007). After his time in Florida, Harvin was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 22nd pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He then won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He last played in the NFL in 2016 with the Buffalo Bills. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
