
World Celebrates 2025 International Day of Jazz Today

Today, April 30, the world celebrates the International Day of Jazz. This day symbolizes a tribute and a love letter to jazz music and its impact on culture, creativity, and social change.
Established by UNESCO in 2011, the day recognizes jazz as a unique art form that transcends national, cultural, and racial boundaries, bringing people together through its improvisational spirit and diverse influences.
Jazz is also a symbol of freedom and expression. Originating in the early 20th century, jazz turned out to be a global movement, inspiring musicians across the world; from its African American sounds to influencing several areas of arts such as blues, rock, and pop.
Several concerts are organized around the world, in addition to workshops and gatherings to honor a music that influenced all kids of arts.
Tonight, All-Star Global Concert will be hosted at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Led by iconic pianist Herbie Hancock and hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons, this concert will bring together an extraordinary lineup of renowned jazz, blues, classical, and hip-hop artists from around the world.
Among those set to perform: Arqam Al Abri (UAE), John Beasley (USA), Dee Dee Bridgewater (USA), A Bu (China), Terri Lyne Carrington (USA), Kurt Elling (USA), José James (USA), Rhani Krija (Morocco), John McLaughlin (UK), Hélène Mercier (France/Canada), Marcus Miller (USA), Linda May Han Oh (Australia), John Pizzarelli (USA), Dianne Reeves (USA), Arturo Sandoval (USA), Naseer Shamma (Iraq), Danilo Pérez (Panama), and Varijashree Venugopal (India). Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

Lady Gaga Appears in Netflix's "Wednesday" First Look
Yara Sameh Netflix released a clip of the first six minutes of 'Wednesday' Season 2 at the Tudum 2025 event — which confirmed Lada Gaga's cameo appearance that she shot in Ireland in one day. At the celebration, Gaga performed an original song that will be featured on this season's soundtrack. She has been in Los Angeles preparing for the celebration, including various rehearsals. In the clip, Haley Joel Osment stars as a serial killer called the Kansas City Scalper. Along with Ortega, cast members returning to 'Wednesday' are Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Jamie McShane and Fred Armisen. Season 2 will also feature new series regulars Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor. Besides Osment, guest stars are Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O'Connor, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo will appear as guest stars. According to Netflix, Gaga plays Rosaline Rotwood — a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday. Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, "Wednesday" follows the titular Addams to Nevermore Academy, where she learns to master her emerging psychic abilities. In Season 1, she uncovers a killing spree that was connected to her parents, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luis Guzmán), who met at the school 15 years earlier. 'Wednesday' became a massive hit for Netflix when it debuted in November 2022, eventually becoming the streamer's most-watched TV season of all time. Cairo Opera House Hosts Georges Bizet's 'Carmen'
Yara Sameh In accord with the Ministry of Culture's cultural mission to revive world art classics and international operas, the Cairo Opera Company presents Georges Bizet's opera "Carmen' at the Main Hall on Monday, June 2 at 8:30 p.m. The production is directed by Hazem Tayel with the participation of the Cairo Opera Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Mohamed Saad Pasha, and the Cairo Opera Choir, coached by Mina Hanna. 'Carmen' is a searing depiction of love, obsession and jealousy. It tells the story of Don José, a naïve soldier, who is seduced by the fiery gypsy Carmen. Abandoning his childhood sweetheart and turning his back on his military career, the opera follows José in his pursuit of Carmen's attention and eventually his downfall. Dances are choreographed by Erminia Kamel, lighting by Yasser Shaalan, and set design by Mohamed Abdel Razik. Mezzo-soprano Mezzosoprano Julie Fayzi Norsita El Merghany alternate in the role of Carmen, tenor Amr Medhat Mostafa Medhat alternate in the role of Don Jose, soprano Dalia Farouk plays the role of Micaela, baritone Mostafa Mohamed Tamer Tawfik alternate in the role of Escamillo, bass Reda El Wakil in the role of Zuniga, Ramez Labbad in the role of Lilas Basita, soprano Reham Mustafa Salma El Gebaly alternate in the role of Frasquita, soprano Jihan Fayed Nora El Alfy alternate in the role of Mercedes, tenor Ibrahim Nagy in the role of Doncayer, baritone Khaled Samir Elhamy Amin alternate in the role of Morales, tenor Mina Rafael Ahmed Farouk alternate in the role of Remandado. The Cairo Opera Company was officially founded in 1964 and has a vast repertoire that includes more than 32 opera productions. Members of the Company performed notable roles at the most prestigious venues worldwide.
