Hindustan Times23-05-2025

Have you ever come across a situation where you randomly scroll down to memories on the Photos app and some unwanted or embarrassing moments pop up on your iPhone? While visiting old memories can be fun and exciting, some pictures, embarrassing moments, or a specific person you are not in touch with could pop up frequently, making your memory down the lane unpleasant. Notably, Memories is an exclusive Photos app feature on iPhone that shows users memories from past trips and moments. If you have the app as a widget, then photos can also appear on your home screen. Therefore, we have found two ways to remove unwanted photos or a person to randomly appears on your iPhone. Follow the guide and know how it's done.

If you notice that a person is appearing quite frequently in memories, photo library, and widgets, then the iPhone automatically analyses the person to be important. However, if you do not wish to see the person often or frequently, then you can also choose to feature the person less on your iPhone. Here's how you can do it:
Step 1: Go to the Photos app on your iPhone
Step 2: Now, find a photo or video of the person you want to feature less
Step 3: Open the image and click on the three-dot menu
Step 4: At the bottom of the menu, select 'Feature This Person Less'
Step 5: Choose from 'Feature This Person Less' or 'Never Feature This Person'

Now, what happens when you activate 'Never Feature This Person'? Well, your iPhone will simply stop showing the person entirely, even the group photos and videos with the selected person will not appear on your feed.
Another alternative to prevent unwanted images from popping up is to simply disable the memories and featured photos on the iPhone. Here's how you can turn off this feature entirely:
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhoneStep 2: Go to Apps and select PhotosStep 3: Now, simply turn the toggle to 'Show Featured Content'

Doing so will stop featured images and memories from appearing on the Photos app, widgets, home screen, and others. Following these steps will help you to stay away from embarrassing memories or from a person you are not very close to in the present.

iPhone 17e is almost in the trial production stage, tipster says. Here's what we expect

Apple earlier this year launched the iPhone 16e, which serves as the company's affordable iPhone. It is not a particularly budget phone, coming in at ₹59,900 in India, but it still serves as the cheapest iPhone Apple currently has in its line-up. Having said that, Apple was also rumoured to be working on the iPhone 17e. It will, of course, be the successor to the iPhone 16e. Recent reports suggest that Apple may be close to finalising the production. Here is what we know so far regarding the iPhone 17e. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17e sometime in the first half of 2026, according to reports. This information comes via tipster Instant Digital on Weibo. The tipster says that the iPhone 17e is almost ready for the trial production stage and that the setup of the iPhone 17e production line is being planned, too. Regarding changes to expect with the iPhone 17e, considering the 'e' line-up is Apple's affordable iPhone range, it makes sense for Apple to launch the iPhone 17e devoid of any flagship features which might cannibalise the mainline iPhones, such as the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro. We would like Apple to include features like Dynamic Island; if Dynamic Island were present on the 'e' models, it would make for a much more premium experience considering the price at which it retails. So, Dynamic Island is a feature Apple could certainly include. Apart from this, Apple could bring spec refreshes to the iPhone 17e, as has been the tradition. Therefore, it would not be out of the ordinary to expect the iPhone 17e to ship with an Apple A19 chipset. It also remains to be seen if Apple will go with its own in-house modem for the iPhone 17e, because the iPhone 16e reportedly debuted the Apple C1 modem, which is its own in-house 5G modem. Looking beyond the iPhone 17e, it remains to be seen what the launch schedule will be like. The iPhone line-up could be undergoing a major overhaul, with Apple expected to launch the iPhone 18e and iPhone 18 in Spring 2027, compared to a Fall 2026 launch for the mainline iPhone 18 devices. WWDC 2025: Apple could present major software updates with less focus on AI

Although platform updates are expected to headline the event, Apple Intelligence is still likely to see meaningful enhancements with third-party partnerships and deeper integration with apps New Delhi Apple is set to host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) starting June 9, 2025. At the event keynote, the US-based technology giant has confirmed to unveil platform updates across its ecosystem, including the next version of iOS. While artificial intelligence-powered features are expected to be a part of the announcements, it may not take centre stage this year. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, 'the conference may be a letdown from an AI standpoint.' His report suggests Apple is not planning any major new features for its Apple Intelligence suite and will instead focus on significant updates to its operating systems across devices — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and more. Bloomberg had previously reported that Apple is aiming for a broader platform overhaul, emphasising consistency and streamlined navigation across devices. The company may also revamp the naming convention for its operating systems. Although platform updates are expected to headline the event, Apple Intelligence is still likely to see meaningful enhancements. Apple may introduce a new software development kit (SDK) and related frameworks that allow developers to integrate Apple Intelligence tools, like Writing Tools, more deeply into their apps. Additionally, Apple is reportedly exploring partnerships with third-party AI providers like Google and Anthropic to bring their models to Apple Intelligence, similar to the current integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Gurman's report also notes that Apple may be treating 2025 as a 'gap year' for AI, with more substantial announcements expected at WWDC 2026. Ongoing AI projects reportedly include a next-gen Siri based on a large language model (LLM), bringing enhanced on-screen awareness, personal context, and natural conversation capabilities. WWDC 2025: What to expect Platform updates Apple is reportedly preparing a significant redesign of its operating systems aimed at creating a more unified user experience across devices. This would help users transition more seamlessly between platforms such as iOS and macOS. Aesthetic updates could include translucent menus and panels inspired by visionOS, subtle motion effects, and shimmering elements that respond to device movement. Apple may also change the naming convention for its OS versions. For example, the next version of iOS might be called iOS 26 instead of iOS 19. Gaming app Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new app focused on video games across its ecosystem including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. According to Bloomberg, this app will allow users to launch games, view achievements, check leaderboards, and access curated gaming content. It will also integrate App Store titles, much like Microsoft's Xbox app on iOS. Apple is expected to introduce features that simplify switching from an iPhone to an Android device. One such feature, recently spotted in Android 16 beta code, is wireless eSIM transfer from iOS to Android. Currently, moving an eSIM requires carrier intervention. These updates are likely part of Apple's compliance with the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA), which mandates greater ecosystem openness. AI-powered battery optimisation Apple is reportedly developing an AI-based battery management feature for iOS. The system would analyse app usage, background activity, and charging patterns to intelligently adjust performance and extend battery life. A new lock screen indicator is expected to show estimated charging time. Revamped Health app The Health app is also in line for a major upgrade. According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to introduce an AI-powered health coaching system that provides personalised wellness recommendations, expert-led videos, and enhanced fitness tracking. For the first time, the Health app is also expected to include food tracking. However, the full rollout of this revamped experience may happen gradually, with iOS 19.4 likely delivering most of the new features.

iPhone 16 price drops again on Flipkart, gets over ₹13,000 discount: Offer details

If you are in the market for a new iPhone, the iPhone 16 is again discounted on Flipkart and is currently available for ₹69,999, but you can sweeten this deal further by combining bank offers. Here, let us tell you how to get the best possible deal on the iPhone 16 on Flipkart currently and possibly get it for around ₹66,000. Read on. So, as we said earlier, the iPhone 16 is currently selling for ₹69,999 for the 128GB variant in all colours. Now, this is roughly a discount of ₹10,000 compared to its MRP price of ₹79,900, but there is a card offer you can avail. If you have a Flipkart Axis Bank credit card, you will be able to get a cashback of ₹3,500, which brings the net effective price down to ₹66,499. Now, do note that Flipkart does include some additional charges, including delivery fees and packaging fees, so that is also worth keeping in mind. You can also exchange your old phone and get up to ₹58,700, but of course, for this, your phone has to be a top-end device. Well, it is already June, and that means there are only a few months until September. So, just July and August remain until September, and then you will get the iPhone 17 series. So, if you are not in a hurry and can hold out for a couple of months, the iPhone 17 could be worth waiting for. But on the other hand, leaks so far have suggested that the iPhone 17 may not be all that different from the iPhone 16, barring the specification upgrades. So, a major revamp is not expected to happen, but you can, of course, look at other iPhone 17 series models like the rumoured iPhone 17 Air, as well as the iPhone 17 Pro models. In its current state, the iPhone 16 remains a solid option with Apple Intelligence, the Apple A18 3nm chipset, and a dual-camera setup, which is not all that different from the Pro models, and in general, a compact, powerful design which will not trouble your hands if you use your phone for long hours.
