River Plate Chief Offers Major Update on PSG Transfer Target Wanted by Man City, Man Utd
Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring River Plate's Franco Mastantuono ahead of the summer transfer window. Nonetheless, they're not the only ones. The highly rated teenager is attracting interest from several top European clubs.
According to TyC Sports journalist Germán García Grova, PSG have already opened talks and view Mastantuono as a key target. The French side is now among a growing group of teams tracking the promising Argentine.
Transfer insider César Luis Merlo previously reported that Manchester United have shown the strongest interest so far, even scouting Mastantuono in person. The Premier League club is also well aware of his €45 million release clause, which could significantly affect how any move unfolds.
River Plate knows it's only a matter of time before they lose Mastantuono. The young talent is already drawing interest from Real Madrid and several other top clubs. Still, club president Jorge Brito made it clear there's no urgency to make a deal just yet.
'No one is in a hurry, neither we nor the player,' Brito told ESPN (h/t Mundo Deportivo). 'He's only 17 years old and we shouldn't put any more pressure on him.'
PSG have recently joined the race for Franco Mastantuono, joining the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, and other top European clubs, according to Diario Olé.
The report adds that six Premier League sides—including new champions Liverpool, along with Arsenal and Chelsea—are also showing interest. Mastantuono is under contract with River Plate until December 2027, with a €45 million release clause, and he's said to have no clear preference on where he goes next.

Al-Hilal Coach Inzaghi Claims ‘I Left Inter Milan To Get Out Of My Comfort Zone' Ahead Of Real Madrid Showdown
Al-Hilal Coach Inzaghi Claims 'I Left Inter Milan To Get Out Of My Comfort Zone' Ahead Of Real Madrid Showdown Al-Hilal coach Simone Inzaghi claims that he decided to leave Inter Milan to 'get out of his comfort zone.' The 49-year-old spoke ahead of his team's Club World Cup group stage opener against Real Madrid, via FCInter1908. Advertisement Inter Milan parted ways with coach Simone Inzaghi at the start of this month. The 49-year-old's exit was not without controversy. He left the Nerazzurri to join Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, for a far superior financial offer. And there were reports of negotiations between Inzaghi and Al-Hilal for a number of weeks before he actually made the move official. The timing of Inzaghi's exit made things particularly difficult. The former Lazio coach had been guiding Inter through an end to the season which saw them competing on all fronts. However, the Nerazzurri ended up losing out on all of the Coppa Italia, the Serie A title, and the Champions League. 'I accepted the challenge,' continued the 49-year-old. And got out of my comfort zone after several years at Inter.' 'I wanted to change my way of thinking,' said Inzaghi. 'My style of play, and to try new things.' 'There was no other team that I would have liked to have coached. So I chose Al-Hilal.' Meanwhile, Inzaghi stated that Al-Hilal 'have passion and self-belief.' 'We're playing against Real Madrid. And we know that it'll be a very tough match. But we're ready for the challenge.'

Mathis Albert: The American 16-year-old bringing ‘swagger' to the Club World Cup
The under-14s pitch was not expected to be a big draw. Most spectators at the MLS Next showcase were heading to watch the older boys in the under-15 and under-17 age groups. But in the end, as the LA Galaxy Under-14s took to the field, the scouts outnumbered the casual spectators. When it came to Mathis Albert, word had got around. Advertisement It was December 2022 in Indio, California, and representatives of European sides such as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax were all curious to see whether the 13-year-old with a reputation for tormenting defenders was the real deal. Albert had already trained briefly with Paris Saint-Germain, but those standing on the sidelines that afternoon wanted to see him with their own eyes. He made enough of an impression that Dortmund, the Bundesliga outfit who propelled Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna to the big stage, became serious about signing him. Two years later, Albert was posing with the famous black and yellow shirt, having moved to Germany. This month, aged just 16 years and 24 days at the competition's start, he is part of Dortmund's senior roster at the Fifa Club World Cup in his native U.S. Albert is the tournament's second-youngest player, after Takeshi Wada of Urawa Red Diamonds, who is aged 16 and nine days, but ahead of Bayern Munich's Cassiano Kiala, who is 16 and 154 days. (The tournament's oldest player is Fluminense's 44-year-old goalkeeper Fabio, who was 28 years old and had played more than 400 career games when Albert was born.) Born in the U.S. to a French father and German-American mother, Albert favored moving to a club in Europe, and Dortmund was viewed as the dream destination based on their reputation for youth development and the legacy of Pulisic. Last season, another young American, Cole Campbell, 19, made his senior debut for Dortmund. Though when it came time for Albert and his parents to weigh up their options last summer, it was not just Dortmund's track record with American talent or a lucrative pay offer that led to choosing them. 'The discussions weren't centred around contracts and status; they were about his profile as a player,' says Jeevi Rai, Albert's agent. 'It was about the areas in which he excels and would benefit the club, and also the areas in which they would help him improve and develop. Advertisement 'They were clear in their belief that he needed to be pushed out of his comfort zone and challenged within their environment of other top youth international talents.' Albert had certainly looked comfortable slaloming past his peers in the U.S. The winger had stood out for his dribbling, speed and ability in one-versus-one situations. While with the Galaxy's youth setup, he made his international debut for the U.S. Under-15s in 2023 and has gone on to make four appearances for the under-17s, scoring four goals with two assists. 'Albert is characterized by his dynamism in one-on-one situations,' is how Dortmund Under-17 coach Karsten Gorges described the teenager to the newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten last August. 'He loves to cut inside as a right-footer. At the same time, he doesn't define himself solely by the hard currency of goals or assists. 'Despite his individual strength, he is a team player. It's about getting him accustomed to the intensity in Germany over the next few weeks and reading his opponent's movements even better.' Albert impressed his coaches at Dortmund with his confidence and maturity, especially when tasked with going up against older and stronger opponents. Early in the season, he was played in under-19 matches to see how he would respond and adapt. 'While physically there were challenges, the one thing that stood out to all was that he was relentless and intentional in everything he attempted to do on the field,' says Rai. Congratulations to my client Mathis Albert on inking an extension with Borussia Dortmund! The youngest player at the FIFA Club World Cup… such an amazing achievement. A special talent, so much more to come. #BVB #USMNT #FIFAClubWorldCup2025 — Jeevi Rai (@Jeevirai6) June 16, 2025 'He would take hard challenges but get up and go again at defenders. He found a way to influence matches, including goals in the league and UEFA Youth League. 'Mathis is uber confident and plays with a swagger, of sorts, which is reflected in his skill set and creativity. He's always approached games with a mindset of enjoying the game, which has helped him thrive and adapt quickly in a high-performance environment like Dortmund.' Advertisement That positive first year was rewarded with a new contract last month, and a plan that will see him continue to train with the first team and play for the under-23s next season, along with key under-19 games in the UEFA Youth League. How quickly he is able to follow Campbell's recent example and break into manager Niko Kovac's senior team remains to be seen. But the hard work continues, and his inclusion in the Club World Cup squad is a reward for that dedication, allied with a first year of promise. Albert was an unused substitute in Dortmund's opening group game against Fluminense (0-0). Albert has studied hard to learn German over the last 12 months. Despite most people at the club speaking fluent English, he wanted to navigate around Dortmund more easily and fit in by speaking fluently. But the priority for him — something which is all too easy for youngsters to forget about once the big clubs, contracts and moves come along — is having fun playing the sport he loves. 'I definitely think just having confidence early on and not being afraid to play against players older has helped,' he says. 'And just every time I played to have fun and enjoy it is the most important thing.'

He has made a statement regarding his player Rodrygo who was rumoured to be unhappy with his situation at the club and reportedly wanted to join some new club. However, the manager has denied this rumour and he feels the player is ready to give his everything for the club next season. After stepping into the managerial hot seat at Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso has continued to make headlines—this time with a clear message regarding winger Rodrygo Goes. Amid swirling rumours suggesting the Brazilian was unhappy at the club and eyeing a move elsewhere, Alonso has firmly denied any such claims. Speaking in a press conference ahead of Madrid's FIFA Club World Cup clash against Al Hilal, Alonso expressed full confidence in Rodrygo's commitment and mentality. 'I know what happened with Rodrygo last season. He took some time to reset. I see him eager to contribute on the field, hungry and ready to enjoy himself. We've talked about it and shared it,' said the Real Madrid boss. Rodrygo endured an inconsistent campaign last season, which sparked speculation about his future at the Santiago Bernabéu. However, under Alonso's guidance, it appears the 23-year-old is prepared to turn a new page and fight for his place in the starting lineup.
