Ironman Motocross betting, predictions, odds, picks, lines: Eli Tomac matches up against Hunter Lawrence

Yahoo4 days ago
Losing the Washougal National during the last round with a raw, opening line of -844 was bound to influence smart money's opinion on Jett Lawrence. The good news is that for the Ironman National, the first race of the final three rounds, Jett's line is 269 points more attractive. The bad news is that it is still significantly in the minus range at -555. The traders remain convinced Jett will win, but they needed to reduce bettors' risk — if only marginally.
Statistics suggest this may not be a cakewalk for Jett. Not only was he beaten last week, but Ironman has favored three riders during the past seven years with multiple wins for Jett, Chase Sexton, and Eli Tomac. The overriding number is that his Washougal loss was only the second time in Jett's Pro Motocross career that he was beaten on the track. It was also the only time he was beaten when he was fully healthy.

His Washougal victory also altered the line on Sexton. After sitting out four rounds due to an injury at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, Sexton returned with a line of +590 at RedBud. He had a few cobwebs to shake off and didn't perform particularly well, so his line lengthened to +763. That race showed progress with results of fifth in Moto 1 and fourth in Moto 2, so Alt Sports Data, the official linemaker for SuperMotocross, put him back at +580. Since he was likely the most attractive second choice of many bettors who like to cover their bets, he cashed in and was lowered to +387. That bet could be covered with a head-to-head wager of Sexton (+330) over Jett (-515)
Traders seem to be a little uncertain as to Hunter Lawrence's value, so they have settled into a pattern. He was +451 at RedBud, +475 at Spring Creek, +432 at Washougal, and opened practically the same at +431 for Ironman. Last week in Washougal, Hunter finished fourth overall, snapping a four-round runner-up streak, so he remains one of three riders (along with Jett and Sexton) to show minus odds to podium.

That leaves Eli Tomac (+1251) as one of this week's most attractive propositions. He struggled for a couple of weeks with bike setup, but was convinced he had that fixed in Washougal. He wasn't exactly in Beast Mode, but he was podium-worthy throughout the round and finished second in the first race and third in Moto 2. He's worth some couch cushion money for a podium at +140. If a bettor is willing to forego their specialty coffee drink over the weekend, there is a significant upside to betting on the overall at 25/2.
If Tomac is the least bit attractive to a bettor for either a podium or overall win, he can be covered with a Head-to-Head bet against Hunter. With a minus line of -220, Hunter is favored heavily over Tomac's +160.

Colorado Avalanche Unveil 30th Anniversary Logo On Historic Franchise Day

The Colorado Avalanche have revealed their 30th Anniversary Logo, which will be at all home games this upcoming season. It all started back on August 10, 1995, when the NHL world welcomed the Colorado Avalanche. Today, they celebrate the 30th anniversary. Currently, there is no official confirmation of any patches being added to the jersey or any confirmation of an "alternate" third jersey. Though it comes with many speculations and rumours of them reviving the Quebec Nordique jerseys. The Nordiques had a history of struggling both on the ice in terms of performance and off the ice, dealing with major financial issues, which ultimately led the team to be moved to Denver, Colorado, and the Avalanche being born. Over the past 30 years, the team has had success in multiple "eras". Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, and Adam Foote were part of the Nordiques' core that relocated with the team and helped them win the two Stanley Cups in 1996 and 2001. Following many ups and downs after, the team one again achieved glory when the team won the Stanley Cup again during the 2022 playoffs. Avalanche Storylines to Watch: 2C Locked In Heading into the 2025-26 NHL season, the Colorado Avalanche finally have something that they haven't had since the 2021-22 season: a true second-line center that's under contract for the next couple of seasons. Brewers move forward with game vs. Mets as scheduled despite flooding, road closures

As Wisconsin is hit with heavy rains and flash flooding, the Milwaukee Brewers are moving ahead with Sunday's game as scheduled. The game, against the New York Mets, is set to take place in Milwaukee's American Family Field at 1:10 p.m. local time, with the Brewers one win away from a series sweep. The team announced Sunday morning that they would be playing as planned, but warned fans about significant road closures into the stadium. In addition, about half of the parking lots around the stadium are closed due to standing water, with the team adding that fans will not be guaranteed parking even if they paid for it in advance. Additionally, Sunday's game was set to be a Jacob Misiorowski t-shirt giveaway, with the Brewers planning to give away the shirts to the first 25,000 fans. The team said that the giveaway will still be happening, but a second Misiorowski shirt giveaway will be scheduled on another game to accommodate fans who won't be able to make it. The Milwaukee area was hit with excessive heavy rains starting on Saturday, hitting a two-day rainfall record in the area, per the National Weather Service. The area received 7.96 inches between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, though though some parts of Milwaukee received as many as 10 inches of rain. Due to the weather, rainwater started to fall onto American Family Field on Saturday during the Brewers' 7-4 win over the Mets, despite the roof being closed. After the game, the storm was still going in full force as fans were trying to leave the stadium. Videos and photos on social media show flooding on the roads and lots around the stadium well into the night, and on Sunday mornign. Ahead of Sunday's game, Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger told reporters the reseasoning behind letting the game go on as scheduled. "Obviously it's not a simple situation. The fact is the building is in great shape, so we're very fortunate that there was no damage," Schlesinger said, via Adam McCalvy. "After talking internally ... we felt that it was the right thing to do to still play the game. There are ways to get here. Obviously, the fans know that the normal access points are gonna be a little compromised, so they're gonna make alternate routes. "We decided that, given that this is the last time the Mets are gonna be here this year, in the regular season, given that the ballpark is in fine shape," he continued, "we felt we could play the game under these circumstances. The fans that can come, that's great. Fans that can't, again, they won't be negatively impacted by the fact that they can't use their ticket. We'll make that exchange available to them, and they'll come to another game." With Sunday's game continuing as planned, Brewers are set for a sweep over the Mets, after beating New York 3-2 and 7-4 on Friday and Saturday. Quinn Priester will take to the mound for Milwaukee, while Sean Manaea will pitch for the Mets.

Yankees' Aaron Judge ‘optimistic' he'll return to outfield sooner rather than later

Aaron Judge continues progressing well in his throwing program. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that he threw Wednesday in Texas, Friday, Saturday, and was planning on doing so again prior to Sunday's series finale in the Bronx. Each day he's been getting 'noticeably better' and the skipper says that he's optimistic he'll be able to return to the outfield sooner rather than later. Judge hasn't played the field since July 25 due to a flexor strain in his right elbow. The 33-year-old was activated from the IL this week but has been limited to just DH duties as he continues gradually working his way through his recovery from the injury. He's gone 3-for-12 with three walks and an RBI in four starts since returning. Boone flirted with the idea of running Giancarlo Stanton back in the outfield for the second straight day with Judge occupying the DH spot Sunday, but the team decided they wanted to play things safe. 'We want to be realistic with that,' he said. 'I could definitely see him maybe getting back out there for the Minnesota series, and then continue paying attention to how Judge is doing with his return.' Saturday marked Stanton's first outfield appearance since the 2023 season.
