mxja! Drops New Single 'CRY' Blending Punk & Alt-R&B

Jun 27, 2025
Sudanese artist mxja! just dropped 'CRY', a blistering new single. Sitting somewhere between punk, alt-R&B, and melodic rap, the track swells with emotional overload, translating personal chaos into sonic form. It's a track that doesn't aim for catharsis as much as it mirrors the damage, an internal storm rendered in distortion, clean vocals, and stuttering effects inspired by Gunnr.
'CRY' is told from inside a toxic relationship, voiced by someone who confuses love with control, addiction, and silence. mxja! calls it 'a confession,' where themes like narcissism, emotional abuse, and mental struggle are laid bare in language and sound.
Accompanied by a short film, the release pushes beyond music into visual performance art. Shot as a possession rather than a performance, the video blurs the line between film, fashion, and inner war. The visuals unravel alongside the music, with glitch-heavy audio, hidden symbols, and physical deterioration, down to a white shirt printed with hate comments mxja! received after a previous drop.

Sudanese Artist Mvndila Returns With Summer R&B EP ‘Roshetta'
Across four tracks, the Sudanese artist experiments freely with new flows, showcasing a free-spirited side of his storytelling. May 31, 2025 Sudanese rapper, singer and songwriter Mvndila has recently unveiled his first project of 2025, a refreshing, laid-back R&B EP 'Roshetta' with a potent dose of summer vibes. Having grown up between Sudan and Saudi Arabia, Mvndila has carved a distinctive sound, that as personal as it is experimental, layering various influences and textures from classical Haqeeba and country to hip-hop and R&B to produce emotional storytelling that captures the highs, lows and in-betweeness of being a young Sudanese artist in the modern world. Now, with 'Roshetta', Mvndila is charting a new course where he showcases a lighter, more free-spirited side of his storytelling. While the EP's moniker is a playful nod to Mvndila's academic background in medicine, the project, at its core, is far from being clinical. Across four tracks, he experiments freely with new flows, delivering a breezy blend of singing and rapping that feels tailor-made for late-night drives in summer days. Co-produced by Zer0 and Wazic, with 7sn XOB helming the sound engineering, the EP blends reggaeton influences with classic R&B textures into one melodic and cohesive collection that highlights Mvndila's expansive songwriting range.
