Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley shares 'sore' injury minutes into show

Daily Mirrora day ago

Good Morning Britain presenters Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid were back on screen on Monday
Good Morning Britain star Richard Madeley received an outpouring of sympathy from his co-host as he opened up about a "painful" injury during Monday's show (June 9).
During today's instalment of the hit ITV news programme, Richard and his colleague Susanna Reid discussed the latest news from across the UK and around the world.

They spoke about Greta Thunberg, who claims she and other activists have been "intercepted and kidnapped" after their Gaza aid boat was stopped by Israel.

In addition, the presenters shed light on the NHS's urgent call for new blood donors amid warnings of critically low supplies.
Before delving into the day's main stories, Richard shared a personal misfortune, disclosing a double wrist fracture that occurred in France over the weekend, reports the Manchester Evening News.
" Good Morning Britain, it's just gone six o'clock, welcome to the programme," initiated Susanna, before noticing Richard's cast-covered wrist.
"Richard, you better explain. You've come back into the studio... That looks sore."
Richard recounted: "I thought you were gonna say, 'Did I have a good break?' Yeah, it's a double fracture of the wrist. I was walking quite quickly down a steep pavement in France, actually, on Friday.

"The pavement was loose and it flipped up and it flipped me forward, and I thought, 'Am I gonna win or is gravity gonna win?' And gravity won, and I hit the ground hard. So yeah, I've got a double fracture and we'll see how it goes."
Susanna then probed: "Is it sore at the moment?" to which Richard firmly responded: "I'm not discussing the pain threshold. We don't think about pain."

"Okay, we're just going to distract ourselves. It's good to have you back," Susanna added.
Richard concluded: "It's nice to be back," as Susanna wished him well, saying: "Let's hope you recover quickly."
In another segment of today's programme, Ranvir Singh delivered breaking news on anti-immigration raid protests happening in Los Angeles.
Correspondent Noel Phillips provided a live update from LA when a sudden loud bang interrupted the broadcast.
Ranvir assured viewers post-incident, clarifying: "Just to be clear, my producer is telling me that that was fireworks. Just want to make that clear for you, because it is obviously alarming to hear that kind of sound behind a live report."

ITV Coronation Street spoilers as Kevin and Abi discover the truth and heartbreaking fate for Debbie

Things are heating up on the Cobbles next week as the drama continues on Coronation Street There are some big moments ahead on Coronation Street, from secrets and lies to health news coming to light, here is everything to expect from the hit ITV soap this week. One teen collapses and it could lead to big trouble for the police officer who arrests them, someone appears to be out to get Maria Connor and more than one resident has a big decision to make. ‌ There's relationship drama for Theo and Todd, while a hospital trip results in Debbie Webster's dementia diagnosis being revealed to her loved ones. At the start of the week there's drama, when Brody decides to torment Daniel, leading to his arrest by detective Lisa Swain over harassment, the Mirror reports. ‌ Just as Carla Connor arrives to meet Lisa, she spots her putting Brody in handcuffs. The teen is then told to empty his pockets at the station, where Lisa finds a bottle of white pills, and he refuses to explain why he has them. Lisa takes the pills from Brody, leaving him alone in his cell, where he begins to feel unwell and shouts to Lisa that he needs his meds. Lisa ignores his plea and soon Brody suffers an epileptic fit. Will he survive, and could Lisa end up in big trouble? Meanwhile, Maria Connor is released from the police station pending further investigation after being accused of attacking Lou - she wastes no time and confronts Lou for reporting her to the police. ‌ But Lou denies making the report - leaving Maria worried for her own safety. Later on Lou heads to see Gary, explaining that she doesn't want any trouble, as the pair move on and share a drink. Todd is still upset over how things ended with Theo last week, learning that Theo is on a dating app after he spots his profile online. However, it seems someone is behind this trying to split the pair up for good, but who could it be? ‌ Later in the week, Todd suggests that the pair of them should attend the Drag Night at the pub - only for Theo's phone to be blown up with constant messages from his daughter Millie. Todd soon turns Theo's phone on airplane mode without him knowing, but he later discovers a number of calls from his ex Danielle, informing him that Millie has been rushed to hospital. It's clear that Millie wants her dad to come home and "lead a normal life" with them, and she will do anything to get it. Another huge plot next week revolves around Debbie and her dementia diagnosis being revealed. ‌ She has been keeping it from her family for months, but next week she collapses and has to come clean. Debbie suffers an outburst while having a drink with Bernie Winter, and later in the week she forgets to pay at the cafe. She collapses, and ends up being taken to hospital resulting in her sharing the news with her brother Kevin Webster. Kevin is obvious to the ongoing drama with his brother Carl and wife Abi Franklin. ‌ After Carl kisses Abi in upcoming scenes, there is an awkward tension between the pair which Kevin quickly notices. Debbie also spots the two of them together, when Carl tells Abi that they're meant to be together - but will they be rumbled? Additionally, Sally shares her concerns about Lou's kids with Tim and wants to go to social services, she also makes a decision about fostering. Aadi, Summer and Amy plan a party. Lastly, next week Dee-Dee is struggling with her feelings towards her baby daughter, agreeing for her brother James to raise her child. She steps up for a doctor's appointment and is left emotionally drained - sparking a dramatic feud between the siblings.

More info "The Beast" from The Chase, Mark Labbett, experienced an embarrassing moment on Celebs Go Dating when he dozed off during a date. The 58-year-old brainbox, renowned for his sharp intellect and straightforward manner on ITV's hit quiz show, was caught on camera taking a snooze mid-date. The filming for the latest instalment of the Channel 4 dating programme took place last month, where it was noted that the spark was missing between Mark and his date. An insider remarked: "Mark was yawning a lot and drifted off briefly. It was a bit of an awkward moment. It's safe to say there wasn't much of a spark between them." Mark, who previously weighed in at 29st, tied the knot with his second cousin Katie in 2014 but they parted ways after six years. He later found love with TV host Hayley Palmer in 2023, although their relationship lasted only a year, reports the Express. (Image: Getty Images) Discussing his time with Hayley, 43, Mark confided to The Sun: "She's a lovely lady and I was very lucky to date her for a year, and as I said: it's me, I got old." He continued: "There's been no one since Hayley. I'm not saying there won't be another one. But I'm certainly not looking." Delving into his past romantic life, Mark shared: "I was single, not coincidentally, for a long, long time when I was a 29st maths teacher who knew it was quite hard to attract a partner then. So I'm quite comfortable without a partner." Mark's spokesperson provided a witty reply when queried about the date: "If his date was as boring as you have suggested, I'm surprised he didn't take a pillow with him!" (Image: IG) It comes as new research by Betway has found the best Chaser. As of June 2025, there are six official Chasers: Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis. The team analysed factors like accuracy, win rate, and highest target caught, to rank the best Chaser of all time. Financially, Paul Sinha is the Chaser who comes out on top. Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha boasts a 78 per cent win rate across 436 appearances on The Chase. His average target to beat is 19 and holds the highest average Chaser win total, raking in £14,651, making him the most financially successful chaser on the show. Meanwhile, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett has a 76 per cent win rate over 475 episodes since he started in 2009. Labbett holds the record for the highest average target to beat, at 20, and the highest accuracy in the final chase, answering 83% of questions correctly. Topping the ranks as the best Chaser on television is Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty. With 467 appearances and a win rate of 79% - the joint highest of any Chaser - it's no surprise that she's regarded as the most formidable opponent. In the final chase, Hegerty averages 13 correct answers in the 60-second timeframe, with an average target of 19, the second highest among her peers. Celebs Go Dating declined to comment on the incident.
