No RSVP's to Ramsay St: Neighbours finale falls flat with A-listers who starred in the soap - as Margot Robbie snubs reunion

Daily Mail5 hours ago

The upcoming Neighbours finale risks becoming a disaster, with a string of A-list stars reportedly declining to reprise their roles for the soap's final bow.
While the long-running soap opera, which was axed for a second time in February, was once a ratings giant that pulled in the biggest names in Aussie television, Ramsay Street now faces a farewell that feels more like a whisper than a celebration.
Despite a dramatic rescue by Amazon Freevee in late 2022 after it was first axed in February that year, the soap's revival has hit a sudden halt, with a 'resting' period set for December 2025.
Attempts to bring back some of the A-Listers who got their start on the show, including Margot Robbie, Guy Pearce, Natalie Imbruglia and Russell Crowe have fallen flat, leaving producers disappointed at the lack of enthusiasm.
The original grand finale from 2022 was a ratings smash, with fan favourites like Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Guy Pearce reprising their roles.

Kylie Minogue, previously thrilled about her return for the 2022 finale, now reflects on feeling misled by the revival, reportedly describing it as a 'waste of time'.
However, one Ramsay Street veteran confirmed to be making their return is Kimberley Davies, who appeared on the soap from 1993 to 1996, and later moved to America, appearing in several US productions including Friends and Ally McBeal.
The absence of grand returns and viral excitement marks a stark contrast to the show's former glory days, signalling an end that feels definitive.
For a series renowned for its family dramas and iconic TV moments, its stars have chosen to remain in the wings, leaving fans to ponder the end of an era.
'The cast of the current season will need to rely on the storylines that involve their characters because breaking out the cheque book won't cover it,' an insider told Daily Mail Australia.
They added Margot and Kylie were not paid for their appearance in the 2022 finale, which made them even less thrilled about returning.
'The mega stars waived their usual million dollar fees and felt like they were waving goodbye to the show that launched them. It was very classy,' they said of the 2022 finale.
'The fact that Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburn and Ryan Maloney were tipped off as the show was saved during Neighbours' "farewell tour" was pretty awkward in retrospect.
'However, it was a little too late to call everyone who bought into the farewell episodes. Longtime fans will probably choose to remember the excellent tribute Network Ten pulled off in 2022.
'The only thing left to make any noise at this point would be to kill off legacy characters and the decision makers know that would not be fair to the remaining fans who returned to the show for these encore seasons.'
News that iconic Australian soap Neighbours had been pulled by streaming giant Amazon has left fans heartbroken.
It was revealed that the long-running series will be axed for a second time after production company Fremantle Australia failed to agree to terms with the US-based streamer.
The official Neighbours X account shared the news, revealing the final episodes would air in December.
'We are sad to announce that Neighbours will be resting from December 2025,' the post read.
'New episodes from the 40th anniversary season will continue to air on Prime Video and Ten four times a week until the end of the year, with all the big soapie twists and turns that our viewers love.'
Neighbours nearly ended forever two years ago when Channel 5, who part funded the soap for UK viewers, pulled out of their deal.
The final episode aired on July 29, 2022, and saw very famous faces return and there were epic cameos made by Holly Valance, Natalie Imbruglia and Ian Smith, as they reprised their roles.
The 2022 finale proved to be a huge hit as a peak of almost 3million UK viewers tuned in to watch lovebirds Scott (Jason) and Charlene (Kylie) back in Erinsborough.
In Australia, the episode, which was aired on Channel 10 and 10 Peach, drew 873,000 metro viewers across both stations, largely thanks to the cast of returning favourites.
And mere months after its success, it was confirmed that Amazon Freevee had given the show another lease of life and brought it back under revamped production.
The newly-rebooted Neighbours premiered on Amazon in September 2023, but just less than two years on, it will be leaving screens for good.
The soap, which followed the lives of the denizens of fictional Melbourne cul-de-sac Ramsay Street, had captivated audiences for an astonishing 40 years.
Neighbours was aired on Freevee worldwide, but Amazon axed the free, ad-supported streaming service late last year, folding it under its Prime Video banner.

They once ruled reality TV with their explosive love stories and fiery dinner party showdowns. But on Saturday night, Married At First Sight brides Alyssa Barmonde and Olivia Frazer were turning heads for a very different reason. The duo made a rare joint appearance at Pelicano in Sydney 's Double Bay, stepping out for a glitzy Studio 54-themed soirée that drew a who's who of the reality television scene. Alyssa, 37, sizzled in a sparkling white mini-dress with long sleeves and a plunging neckline, blowing kisses to cameras as she posed alongside Olivia. Her brunette tresses were styled in loose waves, and she finished off the look with a glossy nude lip and glowing tan. Standing beside her, Olivia, 31, showed off her curves in a blush pink off-the-shoulder mini with ruched detailing and dramatic side ties. The OnlyFans star and podcast host wore her blonde bob tousled and fresh, letting her radiant complexion take centre stage. The former brides smiled for photographers as they reunited for the Studio 54 bash, hosted by Belvedere Vodka and Pelicano, where sequin frocks, disco balls and retro beats set the scene. Also spotted at the Z-list party were fellow MAFS grooms Tony Mojanovski and Ryan Donnelly, as well as FBOY Island's Joey Robson and Love Island Australia hunk Aidan Knox. Nineties 'It Girl' Tali Jatali turned heads in a daring leopard-print bodysuit featuring a plunging neckline with low cut detailing that left little to the imagination. She teamed the look with a baby-blue micro miniskirt and slouchy white knee-high boots, channelling vintage glam with a cheeky twist. Oversized hoop earrings, sleek sunglasses and her signature long brunette locks completed the Studio 54-inspired ensemble. Elsewhere, MAFS brides Lauren Dunn and Veronica Cloherty were seen mingling in the VIP section. Rounding out the guest list was Dean Wells, who attended with his glamorous fiancée Aimee Woolley, both dressed to impress in throwback-inspired looks that fit the Studio 54 theme to a tee. Dean opted for a layered look featuring a blush pink cardigan worn over a black tee, paired with white jeans and matching loafers for a laid-back yet cheeky disco vibe. Aimee turned up the sparkle in a teal velvet halter jumpsuit with a plunging neckline and gold chain belt. She finished her look with matching heels and soft waves for a true disco diva moment.

Casualty's Sam Colloby star unrecognisable 29 years later

Jonathan Kerrigan is best known for his role as Casualty's Sam Colloby, but he also regularly appeared in Heartbeat, alongside his wife, and has gone on to star in a number of other shows Some actors, like EastEnders ' Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale), Coronation Street 's William Roache (Ken Barlow), and Neighbours ' Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), become permanent fixtures on our screens. Others, like Jonathan Kerrigan of Casualty fame, make a significant impact despite their shorter stints. Fifty two year old Jonathan, who portrayed the bleach-blond nurse Sam Colloby in the late 90s, first graced our screens in Casualty in 1996 after making his screen debut in the Chemical Brothers' 1995 single Life Is Sweet. His character Sam quickly became one of the most beloved figures on the show. ‌ READ MORE: EastEnders 'to bring back' another Slater 19 years after debut and fans are thrilled ‌ As an openly gay character, Sam was involved in numerous personal and work-related dramas tied to his sexuality, including discovering that a female car crash victim was secretly dating his boyfriend, reports OK!. But with Sam around, life was never dull; he helped uncover a colleague's rape, fell from a hospital balcony, and saved a young girl's life by performing an emergency tracheotomy. Jonathan portrayed Sam for four seasons of Casualty before his character decided to pursue a career outside of nursing in 1999. Other stars of Casualty, such as the legendary Derek Thompson (Charlie Fairhead), have had much longer runs on the show, with Derek only recently retiring after a remarkable 37 years. In reality, Jonathan took on the role of PC Steve Traynor in ITV's Merseybeat, appearing in 30 episodes. He then transitioned to Heartbeat, a series set in 1960s Yorkshire, where he portrayed Sergeant Rob Walker and even composed the show's theme tune. ‌ His character was always at the heart of the drama, having an affair with Helen Trent, whom he later wed. Rob was understandably devastated when Helen tragically died in an explosion. In 2007, Jonathan chose to leave the show (later replaced by Joe McFadden), and went on to appear in various TV programmes including the American crime drama NCIS and BBC drama series In The Club, as well as films such as Diana – alongside Naomi Watts, who portrayed the late Princess of Wales – and The Somnambulists. ‌ Jonathan tied the knot with actress Shelley Conn – known for her role as Lady Mary Sharma in Netflix's Bridgerton – in 2011, and they have a son together. Since then, life has been bustling for him, with other roles including starring in The Five, a ten-part drama for Sky 1, written by American crime writer Harlan Coben, and Death In Paradise, acting alongside his real-life wife. Sporting a ginger-brown goatee and brown hair, he looks completely different from his days as Sam Colloby, a transformation not unlike that of former Heartbeat co-star Nick Berry. One of his most recent TV dramas is Irvine Welsh's Crime, where he starred as Mark McKendrick alongside Dougray Scott and Angela Griffin. And he has also popped up in Outlander, the historical TV drama series, as Rev Peleg Woodsworth

Matt Zukowski has confirmed his split from fitness influencer Tammy Hembrow after months of swirling rumours and cryptic social media posts. The Love Island Australia star, 29, announced the couple's separation in a sombre Instagram Story on Sunday, telling fans the decision was not taken lightly. 'It's with a heavy heart I share that Tammy and I have decided to separate,' Matt began. 'Both of us have struggled with making this decision however; we need to do what is right for ourselves and her 3 children.' 'This wasn't a decision we took lightly. Our time together will always be cherished and never forgotten,' he added, before thanking fans for their support and asking for privacy. The Love Island Australia star, 29, announced the couple's separation in a sombre Instagram Story on Sunday, telling fans the decision was not taken lightly Despite their short-lived marriage, both parties have asked for privacy as they adjust to life post-breakup. 'We appreciate everyone's support and space at this time as we navigate the split,' Matt concluded in his emotional post. The news comes less than 24 hours after he was spotted spending time with sports journalist Tayla Little at the London Tavern in Richmond, Melbourne on Saturday night. The news comes after weeks of speculation surrounding the state of the couple's whirlwind romance, with many fans convinced the pair had quietly split. Tammy, 32, first sparked concern in March after she was spotted crying in a bathroom, while Matt was later overheard allegedly ' talking crap' about his wife at a South Melbourne gym. In the weeks that followed, Matt quietly moved out of the couple's Queensland home and relocated back to Melbourne, where he resumed working for his father's pool business. While Matt continued to co-host his podcast Where's Your Head At? with ex-girlfriend and fellow Love Island alum Anna McEvoy, Tammy was noticeably absent from his social media. Meanwhile, the Gold Coast-based influencer has remained in Queensland with her three children - son Wolf, nine, daughter Saskia, seven, and toddler Posy, three - from previous relationships. Matt was notably missing from several major family events over the past two months, including Tammy's 31st birthday, Posy's fairy-themed third birthday party, and even Easter weekend. Despite exchanging vows in a glamorous Byron Bay ceremony just under a year ago and getting matching tattoos to mark their love, fans quickly noticed Matt had been erased from most of Tammy's social media - save for a few lingering images from their Vogue Australia wedding spread. She even hinted at emotional distress in a tearful video posted to Instagram earlier this month. 'I definitely don't like to pretend I am okay when I am not,' she said at the time, appearing without her wedding or engagement rings. 'I just feel like pretending is doing me more harm than good.' The video was followed by a series of cryptic TikToks and Instagram posts, including one captioned, 'when something feels off it is usually women's intuition.' Last week, Tammy teased a possible new career pivot amid the drama - telling fans she was considering launching a podcast as a form of therapy. 'I'm thinking of starting a podcast guys, because I feel like I have a lot to say. So would you listen if I did? Just food for thought,' she wrote on Instagram. Her post further fuelled speculation that a tell-all could be coming, especially given the mounting curiosity around her now-confirmed split from Matt.
