Victoria Beckham's Very Posh Takeover in an NYC Skyscraper: It's a 'Little Sanctuary in the Clouds'

Former Spice Girl turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham has long been bedazzled by the 'bright lights, big city' vibe of New York. 'It's where I launched my clothing brand back in 2008 during NYFW, and where my clean beauty brand is based, so it has always held a special place in my heart,' the British designer explains. Thus it made sense that for the first time presenting a pre-collection in New York, the location should embrace 'the energy, the skyline, the pace' of Manhattan.
From today, Beckham is collaborating with American Express Centurion to treat the city's leading fashionistas, tastemakers, and glitterati to a private preview of her pre-spring-summer 2026 collection at Centurion New York. Designed by Yabu Pushelberg, the club is the global finance company's first luxury destination in the US which opened two years ago on the 55th floor of One Vanderbilt (one of the world's tallest buildings, designed by New York–based architects Kohn Pedersen Fox). It is a place where Centurion members can exclusively relax, meet, dine (from menus overseen by Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud), and this week, thanks to Beckham's showcase, shop ahead of the crowd.
Beckham knew the minute she saw the space that it was the right fit for showing her sharp, clean lined approach to tailoring modern female silhouettes. 'I love the contrast between the sweeping views and the intimacy of the space. It feels like a little sanctuary in the clouds,' she says. Alongside the designer's curation of chubby, clubby armchairs and curvaceous sofas, all bouclé-clad in snowy white, sculptural coffee and side tables in either dark stained wood or creamy veined stone, and an abundance of floral arrangements by the French-born, NY-based floral artist Caroline Bailly, Beckham's forthcoming collection of long flowing dresses and urban pant suits pops in block shades of lipstick red, classic black or white, and flattering khaki. 'I didn't want to compete with the space, but to respond to it in a way that felt organic,' she says. 'We wanted to create a quiet sense of drama that would let both the clothes and the setting breathe.'
Surrounded by the panoramic views of the glittering Hudson River and some of the city's most famous skyscrapers—from the Art Deco beauty of the Chrysler building all the way down to One World Trade Center, with its towering spire, in Lower Manhattan—Beckham has created a series of spaces punctuated with dressed mannequins, huge light boxes and marble cubes displaying the designer's popular accessories. Usually, Beckham would present her pre-collections digitally, 'so this felt like a great opportunity to create something immersive and special,' she continues.
The enfilade of spaces, drenched in sunlight and enveloped by blue sky, make for a powerful yet harmonious atmosphere. 'I was drawn to Centurion New York's dialogue between light and material: velvet against brass, stone against skyline. It speaks to my own love of contrasting and balancing masculine and feminine energies in my collections,' she explains. Even the art on the walls, all part of Centurion New York's impressive collection curated by Hanabi: Art & Artists—including the likes of Nan Goldin, Vivian Maier, Diane Arbus and Robert Motherwell—fits with Beckham's contemporary spirit.
Indeed, Beckham has always sought inspiration from art and architecture. 'I've always seen fashion as part of a broader conversation,' the designer says. A decade ago, she commissioned Iranian-British architect Farshid Moussavi to create her London store's breathtaking interior, set respectfully within its Georgian framework yet a dynamic testament to the modernity of concrete, soaring ceilings, and display cases inspired by Donald Judd.

'When I opened on Dover Street, I didn't want a traditional retail space, I wanted somewhere you could exhale—somewhere that felt as welcoming as a home but could also double up as a space in which to showcase and celebrate other incredible talents,' she says, citing an ongoing partnership with Sotheby's to curate exhibitions instore featuring seminal contemporary artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yoshitomo Nara, and George Condo. It has become a passion for both the designer and her husband, former footballer David, after being first introduced to collecting by Sir Elton John. 'Art sharpens my eye and teaches me to see differently.'
A trio of evening gowns in this year's fall-winter collection have been informed by the Olii works of 20th century Argentinian artist and sculptor Lucio Fontana (a favorite in Beckham's own modern art collection). 'Transposing his way of treating canvas as fabric, the material of the gowns is ruched around wired holes placed at the neckline or abdomen as if it were paint, creating an intense and erotic perforated effect,' she explains.
Last winter, Beckham invited the British interior designer Rose Uniacke to reimagine the store's interiors to spectacular effect. Against walls swathed in a rich forest green (custom colored in a vegetable-resin paint by Uniacke for the designer), clothing and accessories jostled alongside extraordinary works like a tapestry woven from stainless steel by Simone Prouvé, a 19th-century gilded console, and a midcentury Italian walnut desk designed by Gio Ponti. 'Rose has an extraordinary eye,' enthuses Beckham. 'Her ability to balance restraint and richness is so rare. That deep green we used felt almost like a fabric in itself; it cocooned the pieces and gave them a new energy. Pairing that with antiques, sculptural furniture, and layered lighting gave the collection a more intimate, storied context.' It was a reminder, Beckham says, that clothes don't live in a vacuum. 'They come to life through space, atmosphere, and the people that live in them.'

Documentary celebrates success of Welsh cycling hero Emma Finucane
A documentary has been made about the young life and meteoric rise of Welsh cyclist and Olympic hero Emma Finucane. The cycling star, 22, made history in Paris last summer when she became the first British woman in 60 years to win three medals at the same Olympic Games and the first Welsh athlete to ever achieve that feat. The Paris Olympics was not the Carmarthen cyclist's first taste of success by a long shot - in 2022 she came home from the Commonwealth Games having won two bronze medals for Wales, while in 2023 she won a gold medal at the World Championships in Glasgow, a feat she repeated last year at the 2024 championships in Denmark. It's all a far cry from when Finucane used to whizz around the historic velodrome at Carmarthen Park as a young girl with Towy Riders cycle club, a group which is still going strong today. Stay informed on Carms news by signing up to our newsletter here. READ MORE: Man dies in Cardiff city centre READ MORE: Two arrests after fatal quadbike crash on A465 Heads of the Valleys road Now, a Cardiff-based student has made a 'powerful short documentary' capturing Finucane's rise to the top of world cycling. The film - Pedal to Paris: The Emma Finucane Story - has been created by Cameron Hitt, who is studying a sports broadcast masters degree at Cardiff Metropolitan University. It will premiere at Nantgaredig Rugby Club, in partnership with Towy Riders, on Monday (June 2). The film will then be made publicly available the following day, on Tuesday, June 3. We caught up with Finucane at Carmarthen Park last year, just weeks after she returned home from Paris with three Olympic medals around her neck. 'I remember, when I was seven years old, coming here with my brother and sister,' she said. 'We lived just across the road. I would go round and round the track on my little pink bike with tassels on it. That was it - I was hooked.' On her success, she said: 'It has changed my life. I'm still the same old Emma, but you are kind of in a bubble at the Olympics so you don't really see what's going on around you. "But then you come back home and I've been asked for pictures in Tesco a couple of times and people say: 'Ooh, I've seen you on the telly!' 'I love it. I love being home and coming back to see everyone. I'm very honoured to be asked to attend events. I don't come home often and to be recognised for what I've done at the Olympics is amazing. 'As athletes we obviously have our own ambitions in terms of winning but I want people to watch us and get on their bikes. I want to inspire people to get out there and cycle - it's a healthy way of life. "Sport is amazing, it gives you energy, and I want to use my platform to help young girls and boys get into sprint cycling.'

Former Exeter flanker Ewers retires aged 34
Dave Ewers is regarded as one of the key players during Exeter's trophy-winning years [Getty Images] Former Exeter flanker Dave Ewers has retired from rugby union. The 34-year-old came up through Exeter's academy ranks and was a key part of the side that reached six consecutive Premiership finals and won the 2020 European Champions Cup. Advertisement Injury kept him out of Exeter's 2017 Premiership final win over Wasps, but he started in their 2020 final victory against the same opponents having also started the Champions Cup final the week before. Ewers was called up to the England squad in February 2016, but a series of injuries meant he never went on to win an England cap. He made 226 Exeter appearances and scored 40 tries before joining Ulster in the summer of 2023. One Dave Ewers' greatest moments came when he helped Exeter win the European Champions Cup in 2020 [Rex Features] The Zimbabwe-born forward has spent the past season playing for Cape Town-based side Stormers in the United Rugby Championship where he played nine times. "Thank you to Rob (Baxter, Exeter director of rugby) and everyone involved at Exeter for giving me the opportunity all those years ago, was a special journey going from the Championship to winning the double in 2020," Ewers said on social media as he announced his retirement. Advertisement "To all the boys, thank you for all the memories, I feel nothing but blessed to have experienced everything along the way with you all, on and off the pitch. "We shared some incredible memories that I will never forget. "A special mention to all the backroom staff of everywhere I've been, and especially Exeter where I had all my injuries. Thank you for getting me back on the pitch. "To all the fans, near and far, thank you for all the support over the years, it's meant a lot to me."

5 biggest Prime Video movies and shows I can't wait to watch in summer 2025
It might not be officially summer yet, but with the temps rising and my watchlist getting longer with summer flicks, I'm already in full 'what should I binge next?' mode. Thankfully, Prime Video seems to be on the same wavelength, because its summer 2025 lineup is shaping up to be seriously stacked. Sure, we're still twiddling our thumbs for some long-awaited returns like 'The Boys' season 5. But that doesn't mean there aren't some movies and shows worth watching. This includes a crime comedy movie starring Orlando Bloom, a new mystery thriller that looks like a twisty ride, and the third heated season of 'The Summer I Turned Pretty.' So, here are the five biggest Prime Video movies and shows I absolutely cannot wait to stream this summer. For more, see what Netflix content I'm adding to my summer watchlist. Comedies aren't usually my thing, but sometimes one pops up and catches my attention. In this case, it's 'Deep Cover,' a crime comedy that seems a little absurd yet full of heart, judging by the trailer. 'Deep Cover' follows three improv performers — Kat (Bryce Dallas Howard), Marlon (Orlando Bloom), and Hugh (Nick Mohammed) — who are recruited by the police to assist in low-level sting operations. Their commitment to 'always say yes' without breaking character leads them deep into London's criminal underworld, resulting in a series of chaotic and humorous situations. If you're into offbeat British humor with a twist of crime caper, 'Deep Cover' might just be the perfect addition to your summer streaming lineup too. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Stream it on Prime Video starting June 12 Prime Video recently released the first trailer for 'We Were Liars,' and if you've spent any time on Tumblr or BookTok over the last few years, you already know this story has people in a chokehold. Based on E. Lockhart's wildly popular novel, it's finally getting the series treatment—and between the eerie vibe, the layered mystery, and that unforgettable ending, it's easy to see why fans are already spiraling. The story centers on Cadence Sinclair (Emily Alyn Lind), a teenager from a wealthy family who spends her summers on a private island off the coast of Massachusetts. After a mysterious accident leaves her with memory loss, Cadence returns to the island to uncover the truth about what happened, delving into long-buried family secrets and unraveling the events of that fateful summer. Stream it on Prime Video starting June 18 'Countdown' feels like the kind of high-octane ride that'll jolt our summer to life, and the new trailer looks fast, intense, and full of chaos. Plus, anything with Jensen Ackles earns my seal of approval. Aside from a couple of throwaway jokes, the trailer leans all the way into the intensity — it's basically non-stop action from the very first frame. We're talking building raids, brutal fight scenes, shootouts, and high-speed chases. And just when you think it can't get more over-the-top, Ackles flashes a thumbs-up and dives off a moving caravan that's being dragged by a speeding truck. So yeah, if you like your streaming shows packed with adrenaline, 'Countdown' should also be added to your watchlist. Stream it on Prime Video starting June 25 Even before I hit play on the 'Heads of State' trailer, I had a feeling it was going to be completely ridiculous in the best way. It's basically like someone said, 'Let's throw the world's top leaders into an action movie and cast John Cena and Idris Elba while we're at it.' I'm definitely not expecting anything groundbreaking, but it seems like the kind of over-the-top fun that totally works if you're into buddy comedy chaos, big action set pieces, and a plot that doesn't take itself too seriously. 'Heads of State' follows U.S. President Will Derringer (John Cena), a former action movie star, and U.K. Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba), who have a public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries' alliance. When they become targets of a powerful foreign adversary, they're forced to put aside their differences and work together to thwart a global conspiracy. Stream it on Prime Video starting July 2 Are you Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah? Because the drama's about to kick off all over again. The new season drops in the summer, so now's the perfect excuse to rewatch all the swoony, beach-filled chaos or dive in for the first time and get caught up on seasons 1 and 2. With its messy love triangles, heartfelt moments, and those warm, nostalgic summer vibes, this show is basically made for a weekend binge. Season 3 introduces a two-year time jump, with Belly (Lola Tung) now in college and in a relationship with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). However, the return of Conrad (Christopher Briney) brings unresolved feelings to the surface, reigniting the central love triangle and forcing Belly to confront her true desires. Stream it on Prime Video starting July 16
