AI Mode arrives in Circle to Search with new gaming help and visual upgrades
Circle to Search, which launched last year, now supports over 300 million Android devices. The tool allows users to circle, highlight, or tap on-screen content to instantly look up information without switching apps. With the new AI Mode integration, users can ask follow-up questions after a visual search and get deeper explanations right from their screen.
To activate the feature, users can long-press the home button or navigation bar, then interact with the content they want to learn more about. When an AI-generated answer appears in the results, tapping 'dive deeper with AI Mode' opens an extended view where users can continue the conversation. This added layer of interaction is aimed at helping people explore complex topics more thoroughly without breaking their workflow.
AI Mode is also accessible through Google Lens via the Google app, available on both Android and iOS. At the moment, this extended capability is live in the U.S. and India.
Another key addition is support for mobile gaming. If you're stuck during a game or curious about a character, Circle to Search can now deliver relevant tips and even gameplay videos while the game remains open. This means players can look up strategies or walkthroughs without pausing or minimizing their session. This new functionality is available in countries where AI Overviews are already supported.

Speaking of AI Overviews, Google says these results are getting smarter and easier to understand. Thanks to recent improvements to the underlying Gemini models, AI Overviews now include more visuals and clearly structured information. That should make it easier for users to scan through answers and grasp context faster.
Together, these updates push Circle to Search closer to being an always-available visual assistant that blends search, AI, and real-time interaction into a single experience.
From a usability standpoint, these improvements make Circle to Search more practical, especially in high-attention scenarios like gaming or researching. Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will have some interesting color choices
Over the past few days we've seen the Google Pixel 10, and then the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL, portrayed in leaked renders purportedly showing all the colors in which they will be available after the August 20 official announcement. Today, it's time for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold to get the same treatment. Unlike its non-folding siblings, this one will only have two colorways on offer, and they're probably not what you'd expect. Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold in Moonstone (left) and Jade (right) The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will allegedly be available in Moonstone and Jade, colors that the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL will also be offered in - only those phones also get Obsidian (aka black) and Porcelain (white), whereas the Pixel 10 Pro Fold interestingly has neither of the most used hues. Moonstone is a slate blue color with a lighter tone for the glossy frame, and Jade is a soft pistachio green with soft gold accenting on the frame. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is rumored to come with a slightly larger 6.4" cover display, thanks to smaller bezels and a reworked hinge. It will be powered by the Tensor G5 SoC like the rest of the family, and will sport a 5,015 mAh battery, the largest in a foldable that's officially available in North America. Google introduces cool new AI powered features for the Photos app and YouTube Shorts
Announced in a new blog post, Google is adding some new features to Google Photos and YouTube Shorts. Let's start with Google Photos, which will use AI to turn photographs in the Photos app into six-second video clips. This will allow you to turn your still photos into videos. Starting today, the feature, powered by Google's Veo 2 advanced AI video generation model, will create short, fun videos from static images. You'll choose a photo from your photo gallery in Google Photos and pick one of two options available: "Subtle movements" or "I'm feeling lucky." Once the video is created, you can share it with friends, family, and even your boss. Photo to video in Google Photos should be available on your Android or iOS handsets starting today. Turn your photo into anime, comics, or 3D animation. | Image credit-Google Did you notice the temperature drop? That's because Google has more cool features to announce. Remix in Google Photos will be available in the U.S. for both Android and iOS devices and will be available over the next few weeks. This feature allows you to step inside your Google Photos gallery to, once again, choose a photo. This time, you'll be taking that photo and transform it using one of four different styles such as anime, comics, sketches, or 3D animations. Want to know what your pug looks like as a character in a comic book? Now you can find out. The new Google Create tab will show you all of the features available to you in Google Photos in one spot. The Create tab is where you will go to find and use Photo to video, and Remix. The tab will also show you how to create collages, highlight videos, and other cool looks from your photo gallery. The tab, which acts like a hub, will be updated as Google obtains feedback from users. Google will disseminate the new Create tab in the U.S. starting next month. Just like images edited using Reimagine in Photos, all videos and photos created using Photo to video and Remix will have an invisible digital watermark from SynthID. Some of the new tools are coming over to YouTube Shorts, including the ability to transform pictures from your camera roll into videos. Select an image, choose a "creative suggestion," and Photo to video can, according to Google, "add movement to landscape photos, animate pictures of everyday photos, or bring group photos to life." This feature is rolling out now and next week at no cost in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The feature will be available in more regions later this year. To create these, go to the Effects icon in the Shorts camera and select AI to choose from the new generative effects. These are powered by Veo 2, and later this summer, Veo 3 will be coming to YouTube Shorts. Google is also introducing AI Playground, which includes generative AI creation tools. There are examples designed to give you the incentive to create. You can create content quickly thanks to pre-filed prompts that help you create images, videos, music, and more in the blink of an eye. SynthID watermarks and clear labels are used to indicate that these creations were generated with AI. To access the AI Playground, tap the create button followed by the sparkle icon in the top-right corner. The feature is available now, as Google says, "for everyone" in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

We tested Galaxy Fold 7 Cover Screen vs Main Screen: Here is the difference in battery consumption
The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a masterpiece in engineering, with a super slim body that weighs less than a traditional flagship like the S25 Ultra. Yet it unfolds into a full-sized 8-inch tablet. The most important upgrade is arguably the bigger cover screen, so you can now easily just use that and feel like you are using a regular phone. Previous Galaxy Folds had an extra narrow cover screen that made typing very difficulty and everything looked off on the weird tall aspect ratio. It was just not a good experience, inviting users to instead always open their phone to use the main screen. $1120 off (53%) Pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at Samsung and grab a free storage upgrade on the 512GB model. So what if you only used this new cover screen? It's certainly not the point of the phone, but how much battery would you save if you decided to do so? We ran some tests and now we have the results, but first, let's recap the screen changes that Samsung made with the Fold 7 . As you can see, the screens have both grown bigger and we have the aspect ratio change for the cover display. So, to the testing table we went. For our first test, we played the same video playlist first on the cover screen and then on the main screen. We always first carefully set the brightness levels to the same number for all devices we test (using professional equipment) to ensure equal conditions. Translated into percentage numbers, using the cover screen instead of the main screen, you get 17% longer battery life. For the web browsing test we ran a script that cycles through web pages and simulates scrolling behavior, much like in a regular web browsing session. The results here were a bit surprising, considering the difference between the two was so tiny, much smaller than with the YouTube browsing test, amounting to just around 5%. In normal conditions, meaning you don't use your phone out in the sun when the brightness gets too high, and you don't run super intensive apps or games, then there is a proven benefit of using the Cover screen to save battery life. But it's not huge. In our tests, we saw a difference ranging from 5% all the way to around 20%, and we are sure there is some variability to those numbers. But if we average out the results, we would say that you get at least 10% longer battery life if you use the cover screen. And honestly, that's not a huge win. And if it tells us something is that the main screen on the Fold 7 is actually quite efficient at doing its job.
