Doireann Garrihy reveals one aspect of mtoherhood she can't prepare for
Doireann Garrihy has lifted the lid on her pregnancy, admitting there is one aspect she doesn't know how to 'prepare' for.
The presenter and broadcaster announced her pregnancy with husband Mark Mehigan earlier in the year, lamenting that it would be 'the greatest chapter yet.'
Elsewhere, there is more baby joy within the Garrihy clan as Doireann's sister Ailbhe is expecting her third child with husband Ruadhri Hehir. Doireann Garrihy has lifted the lid on her pregnancy, admitting there is one aspect she doesn't know how to 'prepare' for. Pic: Doireann Garrihy/ Instagram
Detailing some of the things people have said to her following the pregnancy announcement, Doireann admitted she didn't know how to prepare for judgement from strangers.
'I made an iced coffee and somebody replied [on social media] saying, 'I really hope that's decaf for the baba,'' Doireann told Ailbhe.
'Generally I would ignore but I just replied and said 'My doctor told me I could have a coffee a day,'' the presenter added, speaking on her podcast Doireann and Friends. 'My fully-qualified medical practitioner,' Ailbhe chimed in, with Doireann adding: 'That was my way of mic-drop, 'There is no discussion.''
Doireann said: 'I was kinda like, first of all, why are you saying this to me and second of all, it's none of your business.
'I don't know how I'm going to prepare for a) judgement from people, and b) mom guilt as a result of people being judgey.' Ailbhe weighed in on the matter, admitting that pregnancy and parenthood 'opens up the floodgates' for people to say what they want.
'For me, there might be a picture of my kids in the car — 'They're not strapped in properly,' 'They shouldn't be forward facing.' You haven't physically been here to examine exactly how tight the thing is; their weight…'
Ailbhe added that she didn't know what possessed people to send messages of the sort, noting 'it's not your place.'
Elsewhere, Doireann revealed another message from a follower said they knew she was pregnant because her Dancing with the Stars outfits were 'very leg-focused.'
Doireann responded noting she's been 'getting my legs out as much as possible since I was born,' with her older sister confirming: 'Your legs are your thing.'

Tomas O'Se calls out GAA's mid-season rule change but fellow Sunday Game pundit disagrees "There are so many former Irish internationals that I've known down the years, and they are still playing. "I'd love to play on an Irish Masters team and travel with them. Someday, hopefully." As if that wasn't enough of a packed playing CV with which to boast of, she also played camogie for Cork in her 20s. In that same interview she delved into how she has to be mindful of her natural biases when covering Gaelic Games. She laughed: "Ah no, when Cork was playing in the All-Ireland hurling final last year, I was sitting beside Anthony Daly and we almost had to be separated. "We did have great craic, but I'm emotionally invested in the GAA, and it can be very hard to detach myself. "But you must keep bias separate.
