Holyhead Port announces Terminal 3 return date following Storm Darragh damage

Holyhead Port is set to return to normal operation this Summer as T3 is set to return to operation on July 1.
The terminal was damaged back in December due to contact with two ferries during weather caused by Storm Darragh. The damage is understood to have happened on December 6 and 7 before the red weather warning for the storm came into force.
Work to repair Terminal 3 has been ongoing since December. Terminal 5 opened to port traffic in order to keep normal operations at Holyhead Port.
A spokeswoman for Holyhead Port said: 'We are committed to Holyhead Port's long-term future as a vital connection between Wales and Ireland and are putting plans in place for an investment strategy to ensure the resilience of the infrastructure to safeguard the port's sustainable future. We will continue to work with our ferry partners to provide a full ferry schedule while the repairs are completed to ensure no loss in capacity.
"We will also work collaboratively with the ferry operators to ensure that future planned maintenance work on both berths can be carried out to protect the resilience of the structures whilst maintaining full operations and capacity at the port.'
Stena Line has said that it will return to its former timetable that was in place before Holyhead Port was shut from December 7 to January 16. While it had retained the frequency of the Dublin to Holyhead route, there was some adjustments to the sailing timetable.
Johan Edelman, Stena Line Trade Director (Irish Sea South) said: 'We are pleased with the news that Holyhead Port plan to have T3 returned to operation on 1 July. Whilst the frequency of our ferry services on the Dublin-Holyhead route have not been impacted by the closure of T3, we have had to make some minor adjustments to our sailing timetable.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank our freight and travel customers for their understanding over the last number of months. Our customer service teams are already engaged in the process of advising all of our freight and travel customers about the imminent reopening of T3 and we will be updating our web booking and social media channels with the timetable adjustment which will come into effect from 1 July.'

EuroMillions results Ireland: Search on to find Dublin's latest winners who scooped huge prizes
The search is on to find two of Ireland's latest EuroMillions winners who just scooped huge prizes in Friday night's draw. While the eye-watering €250 million jackpot went unclaimed and now rolls over to Tuesday - becoming the largest EuroMillions jackpot in history - the pair of winners still have plenty to celebrate after matching five main numbers to win €23,054 each. The winning numbers from the draw were: 20, 21, 29, 30, 35 and Lucky Stars 2 and 12. As both winners have yet to come forward, the National Lottery is issuing a public appeal for all players to check their tickets. To help the search they have revealed that both tickets were purchased in Dublin. The second winner purchased their Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw from The Natter Day Today Store in Ongar Village. Meanwhile, a Co Kerry player won the Telly Bingo Snowball prize on June 6, worth an incredible €60,019. The winning ticket was sold in Cahill's SuperValu in Ballybunion. Incredibly, this is the second big win for the store this year, after a former post mistress purchased her Quick Pick ticket there and matched 5 numbers in the main Lotto draw on January 8 to claim €30,570. Irish resident released in Iraq after more than four years in custody

More info A Roscommon resident has been released by authorities in Iraq – after being locked up for more than four years, it has emerged. Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris tonight revealed that Robert Pether – who is an Australian citizen but had been living in Elphin with his Irish family – was released on bail earlier today. Mr Harris, who has been working to secure the engineer's release for several months, said his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein contacted him to tell him of the development. Construction engineer Mr Pether, 49, who is married to Desree Pether, 53, from Roscommon, has been locked up since April 2021. The father-of-three was jailed over four years ago in a €20 million contract row between his Dubai-based employer and the Central Bank of Iraq. His distraught family in Ireland revealed Mr Pether, who previously had melanoma skin cancer, has a prostate that is "three times (the) normal size" and that he also has gallstones. Mr Pether and an Egyptian colleague had been employed by a Dubai-based construction company, CME Consulting, to build a new Central Bank in Baghdad, when the contract row erupted. They are accused of stealing money from the project, which they both deny. The United Nations has slammed his jailing as "arbitrary detention." He was due to be released last January but Iraq issued new charges against them and he was facing a further 15 years in custody – until Mr Harris intervened earlier this year. He was a free man tonight - although he must remain in Iraq for the meantime. But the Tánaiste welcomed the decision to free him. He said: "This evening, I have been informed of the release on bail of Robert Pether, whose imprisonment in Iraq has been a case of great concern. "This is very welcome news in what has been a long and distressing saga for Robert's wife, three children and his wider family and friends. "Foreign Minister Hussein of Iraq, whom I spoke to last month to urge Robert's release, called me this evening with the news. I was informed that Robert has been released on bail and for the moment he remains in Iraq, but I welcomed this as a first step to his being allowed to return to his family in Roscommon." The Tánaiste also said he had been in contact with Mrs Pether over the release – and said he was grateful to Irish diplomats who had worked on the case. He said: "I also spoke this evening with Robert's wife, Desree Pether, about this positive development. "I want to thank Irish diplomatic officials based in the region for their continued work on this case. "We remain concerned about Robert's health and outstanding charges, but I am hopeful now of a positive resolution in this case."
