Detroit man charged with murder after crash during Warren police chase kills woman
A Detroit man is accused of hitting and killing a woman while fleeing Warren police.
Authorities said officers tried to stop Anthony Eugene-Douglas Grier Jr. because he was going about 70 mph in a 40 mph zone.
Grier is currently being held in the Macomb County Jail.
WARREN, Mich. (FOX 2) - A Detroit man is facing several charges, including murder, after police say he caused a fatal crash while fleeing Warren officers over the weekend.
Officers spotted a Chrysler 300, driven by 33-year-old Anthony Eugene-Douglas Grier Jr., going about 70 mph in a 40 mph zone on Van Dyke near Miller just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

The backstory
Grier did not stop, leading police on a chase. The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office said he allegedly drove on the sidewalk, in the middle turn lane, ran red lights, and reached speeds faster than 100 mph as he evaded officers.
While at the intersection of Van Dyke and Nine Mile, the suspect hit two vehicles, including one being driven by 71-year-old Wendy Drew. That woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Grier fled his crashed car on foot, but was caught.
He was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree fleeing police, and assaulting/resisting/obstructing police, and remanded to the Macomb County Jail.
"This matter is a prime example of the peril that results from a driver failing to stop for police. It is a terrible tragedy that an innocent woman was killed. The Warren Police Department can be commended for their efforts to protect the public and prevent what could have been an even greater loss of life," Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said. "The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office will prosecute the defendant to the fullest extent of the law."

The Brief DTW is getting attention on the internet after a video of rats in the terminal went viral. The airport says it is working to get rid of the rats. ROMULUS, Mich. (FOX 2) - It has been a rough week for Detroit Metro Airport after illegal animal meat was halted in the terminal, and a video of rats from inside scattered across the internet. Timeline A recent video showing rats running around inside the McNamara Terminal at DTW is now going viral. It caught passengers by surprise, to say the least, and it caught FOX 2's Charlie Langton by surprise as well. A video is catching attention because it allegedly showed rats in the airport. FOX 2 reached out to DTW and got a statement from them saying: "The health and safety of our customers and employees is our top priority. We are working with our contractor to address the issue now." The airport is working to get rid of the rats. Dig deeper Meanwhile, bushmeat, which refers to meat from wild animals, including bats, non-human primates, and cane rats, from certain regions, was discovered in the luggage of two travelers within a week. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), agriculture specialists examining luggage late last month came across 11 pounds of rodent meat from the West African country of Togo. A few days later, 52 pounds of primate meat from the Central African nation of Gabon was found in a traveler's bag. According to CBP, the meat was declared as antelope. 40,000 pounds of merchandise spilled on Detroit freeway after semi driver flips trailer on ramp
DETROIT (FOX 2) - While cleaning up a flipped semi-truck trailer Wednesday morning in Detroit, the truck's load spilled across a ramp. According to Michigan State Police, a 26-year-old truck driver from Canada was traveling too fast on the ramp from westbound I-94 to eastbound I-96 when the products he was hauling shifted, and the trailer flipped over around 2:15 a.m. While tow crews were trying to upright the trailer, one side of the trailer wall broke open, spilling about 40,000 pounds of merchandise. Authorities did not specify the type of merchandise dumped. Police said the mess had to be picked up by hand. The freeway reopened around 10:30 a.m. "Driving too fast resulted in another preventable crash," said MSP F/Lt. Mike Shaw. "While no one was hurt and no other vehicles were involved, we will see the effects of this crash on travel for hours. This driver's risky driving behaviors resulted in traffic headaches for everyone who uses that freeway ramp."
