Pakistan's political, military brass ordered hit at Pahalgam: Officials
File photo: Army jawans on alert in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack (Picture credit: PTI) NEW DELHI: The April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians was a conspiracy hatched by Pakistan's ISI and terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba on the directions of the country's political and military brass and executed exclusively by Pakistani terrorists , according to sources in the security establishment. In what sources described as an LeT-ISI project akin to the 26/11 Mumbai attack, ISI gave specific directions to Pakistan-based Lashkar commander Sajid Jutt to deploy only foreign terrorists operating in J&K. To ensure secrecy, no Kashmiri terrorist was taken on board. He was directed to ensure minimal local involvement on a "need-to-know" basis. The attack was led by Sulaiman, a suspected former Pakistani special forces commando who had participated in training at LeT's Muridke hub in Pakistan's Punjab before crossing the LoC into the Jammu region in 2022. Two other Pakistanis were also in the hit squad. Satellite phone analysis has revealed that Sulaiman's location on April 15 was in Tral forest, indicating he was in the vicinity of the attack site at Baisaran for almost a week before the incident. Sulaiman was also involved in the April 2023 attack on an Army truck in Poonch in which five soldiers were killed. However, he laid low for the next two years. Sources did not reveal the identities of the two other Pakistani terrorists. Although J&K Police had suspected the role of Pakistani terrorists Hashim Musa and Ali Bhai, probe has only confirmed Sulaiman's role till now. There is no corroboration of the role of local terrorist Adil Hussain Thoker as a facilitator, either. Even the two locals arrested by NIA last month - Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad Jothar, both from Pahalgam - are believed to have had a limited role, having provided the Pakistani terrorists food, shelter and other logistics in return for a few thousand rupees. They have also denied any knowledge of the terrorists' plan to hit tourists in Baisaran. There are currently about 68 foreign terrorists and three local terrorists active in the Valley.

BJP MLAs protest in Jammu over compulsory Urdu for naib tehsildar posts, demand rollback
File photo (PTI) JAMMU: BJP legislators on Monday staged a protest outside the civil secretariat in Jammu, demanding revocation of a government order mandating Urdu as a compulsory language for naib tehsildar recruitment examination in Jammu and Kashmir. The MLAs arrived at the secretariat in the morning and staged a dharna, terming the order discriminatory and detrimental to the interests of Jammu's youth. Carrying placards highlighting injustice against Jammu's youth, Dogras and other official languages of the Union Territory, they raised slogans against the government and CM Omar Abdullah, accusing his party, National Conference, of trying to create unrest in the region. Speaking to the media, Sunil Sharma said this policy amounted to grave injustice against deserving candidates who are otherwise qualified but are being excluded based on language preference. 'This is not just about language; it's about rights, opportunities and equal treatment. Why should proficiency in Urdu be made mandatory when there are several other official languages in J&K?' he asked. Former minister Sham Lal Sharma said: 'Kashmir-centric parties, particularly NC, have been discriminating against the Jammu region for decades. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Invest in SALIK shares today and be part of the city's growth سالك Learn More Undo This is a fresh example of it.' Issuing such an order was a clear attempt to deny jobs to Jammu's youth, he alleged. 'We are holding protests to get it revoked. Youth are already on the streets protesting. The matter has been brought to the notice of the lieutenant governor as well, and memorandums have been submitted through deputy commissioners, but nothing has been done so far,' he said. Sharma said 14 BJP MLAs had even met CM Omar on the issue. 'His approach was positive, but no action has been taken yet, and tomorrow is the last day to apply for the posts. They are trying to create unrest in Jammu and are forcing us to go on agitation,' he added. 'We are warning the government not to play with the sentiments of the people of Jammu, who are fed up with the discriminatory attitude of Kashmir-centric rulers,' he said.

‘One-sided love is not…': Owaisi on joining INDIA bloc for Bihar assembly elections
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday said his party would not join the INDIA bloc for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar. Owaisi cited past experiences and the allegations against his party as the reason for his decision.(ANI - X) Owaisi has said that his party will be contesting the Bihar assembly polls while focusing on the Seemanchal region, where the AIMIM has a presence, news agency PTI reported. AIMIM had won 5 seats in Bihar in the 2020 elections, giving a dent to the opposition alliance. However, four of its five MLAs later defected to the RJD. Owaisi's remark comes after his party AIMIM sent a proposal to join the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan, but did not receive an enthusiastic response. Owaisi cited past experiences and the allegations against his party as the reason for his decision. 'One-sided love is not going to happen,' Owaisi said, adding that the 'accusations' against his party were 'based on lies'. He further alleged that the INDIA bloc does not want a leader of the 'poor and oppressed', and suggested that they want their dominance over the people of Bihar to continue, according to PTI. 'They just want you to remain their slaves, to walk behind them with your head bowed,' Owaisi said. 'Should try to form a third front': Owaisi Owaisi said that AIMIM's Bihar unit president Akhtarul Iman had flated the idea of forming a third front for the Bihar polls, which he said was an 'effort' from his party. While expressing confidence that his party would contest the elections well and highlighting Iman's suggestion of a 'third front', Owaisi said, 'Everything has come before the people of Bihar for a reason'. Owaisi on electoral rolls controversy: 'SIR is NRC through the back door' While opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls before Bihar elections, Owaisi took a jibe at the Election Commission. 'Who gave the ECI the power to determine whether someone is a citizen or not?,' Owaisi questioned. He added that AIMIM was the first to say that 'SIR is NRC through the back door'. Owaisi also launched criticism at the poll body for not making official statements. 'It is unfortunate that a constitutional body is not making a statement and things are being revealed through sources,' he said. The Supreme Court had on July 10 permitted the EC to continue SIR of the electoral rolls, while urging the poll body to allow Aadhaar cards, ration cards and electoral photo identity cards as admissible documents to confirm voter identity.
