Aamir Khan dismisses 'comeback' tag for ‘Sitaare Zameen Par': 'I've had just one flop, and you're calling it..'
Aamir Khan
is all set to return to the big screen with his upcoming film 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. While many are calling it his big comeback after 'Laal Singh Chaddha', the actor doesn't quite agree.
In fact, he believes he never really left in the first place.
In a chat with News18 Showsha,
Aamir
shared, 'Well, I'm not considering it a comeback film, quite honestly. My films usually come out once in three years anyway. A lot of actors have 8 to 10 flops, but we don't call those comebacks, do we? I've had just one flop, and you're calling it a comeback? I haven't gone anywhere.'
A spiritual sequel to '
Taare Zameen Par
'
The 'Lagaan' actor also opened up about what pulled him towards 'Sitaare Zameen Par', saying the story felt like a natural follow-up to his 2007 film 'Taare Zameen Par'.
"The script felt like an extension of what we were trying to say in Taare. That film was about inclusion, about a child with a learning disability. But in Sitaare, the challenge is even greater."
He further explained, "It deals with individuals who have intellectual disabilities—children on the autism spectrum, with Down syndrome—who are much more atypical compared to dyslexia. And what's even more beautiful is that this time, it's not the neurotypical person helping them, but the other way around.

The neurodivergent kids help the coach. That's why I feel this film goes ten steps ahead in the same theme.
"
Aamir also shared that the story of 'Sitaare Zameen Par' touched him deeply and felt like a 'spiritual sequel' to his 2007 film 'Taare Zameen Par'. That's why the makers chose a title that reflects the same spirit.
Directed by R. S. Prasanna the film is a sports comedy drama. It stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmuk and also introduces ten newcomers to Hindi cinema, including Aroush Datta, Samvit Desai, Rishi Shahani, Simran Mangeshkar, and others.

Aamir Khan recalls almost working with Mani Ratnam on ‘Lajo': 'Hope we collaborate soon'
Aamir Khan has revealed that he came close to collaborating with acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam on a film titled 'Lajo', an adaptation of Ismat Chughtai's short story Gharwali, back in 2007. The project, which stirred considerable buzz at the time, ultimately didn't materialise. In a recent interview with Galatta, Aamir clarified that contrary to past reports, the film was not shelved due to creative differences between him and Mani Ratnam. Nothing to do with him and me,' Aamir said, adding that he remains a great admirer of the Ponniyin Selvan director and hopes to work with him in the future. Aamir's Admiration for Mani Ratnam Calling himself a 'huge fan' of Mani Ratnam, Aamir revealed that the two have met several times and shared great conversations. 'I have been to his house, spoken at length. He's someone whose work I truly respect,' Aamir noted. Jamie Lever recalls being traumatised as a 10-year-old by inappropriate men: ‘Creep masturbated, conductor touched'
Actor-comedian Jamie Lever says she was traumatised due to inappropriate men when she was as young as 10. In an interview with Hauterrfly, Jamie spoke about the instances from childhood that left her wary of men till she was well into adulthood. (Also Read: 'You did a Sara better than her': Internet approves Jamie Lever's mimicry of Sara Ali Khan from Love Aaj Kal 2. Watch) Jamie recalled in the interview how one day her driver picked her up from school and was waiting outside for her brother (Jessey) to come out. 'He asked me to wait in the car. My friend and I were chatting in the back seat. One creepy guy came, stood at the window behind her, flashed me and started masturbating. It was the first time I'd seen a male part and I was so shocked. I didn't understand what was happening. I was so young, maybe 10-12. I started trembling because I thought he'd open the door and do something,' she said. Jamie remembers locking the door and pretending not to see him, which eventually made him walk away. She also stated that her school bus conductor would touch her inappropriately. 'Our school bus conductor was so inappropriate with us, he would touch us. Some days, I feel like it's all a bad dream…I have suppressed these memories. He's supposed to protect children, but he had a sick mind. I became so closed off, I didn't let men into my life. I only dated once I moved abroad in my 20s,' she said. The actor also stated she never told these instances to her father, Johnny Lever, or mother, Sujatha, because she couldn't comprehend what was happening. Jamie, who has appeared in films like Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, Housefull 4, and Bhoot Police, ventured into Telugu cinema in 2024. She starred in Aa Okkati Adakku with Allari Naresh and Faria Abdullah and in the JioHotstar web series Pop Kaun.
