Cuauhtémoc: Everything we know about the deadly Brooklyn Bridge ship crash
A Mexican navy training ship, the Cuauhtémoc, collided with the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, resulting in two crew member deaths and 19 injuries.
The ship, carrying 277 people, was departing for a goodwill tour when it veered off course and struck the bridge, snapping its three masts.
Initial reports suggest a mechanical issue caused the ship to lose power and head towards the bridge.
The two deceased crew members were identified as América Yamilet Sánchez and Adal Jair Marcos. Five of the injured were in critical condition.
While the bridge sustained no major structural damage, the incident is under investigation.
