Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 24: The Amity Innovation Incubator, a pioneering concept among Indian universities aimed at nurturing entrepreneurial endeavours, proudly hosted its Investor Pitch Day, bringing together a powerful constellation of emerging startups and top-tier investors for an exciting day of live pitches, strategic networking, and growth-focused dialogue.
With over 1100+ startups incubated and accelerated, the Amity Innovation Incubator, which recently won AABI's 'Incubator of the Year Award', continues to drive its mission to accelerate India's entrepreneurial momentum. The July 2025 Pitch Day marked a significant milestone with 10 high-potential startups presenting cutting-edge solutions across sectors like health tech, AI, fintech, and social impact.

DDUGU hosts nat'l meet to mark 5 years of NEP
Gorakhpur: Marking the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University (DDUGU), in collaboration with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), organised a one-day national workshop on 'NEP 2020: Resolutions, Efforts, and Challenges' at Shri Gorakhnath Research Centre on Sunday. What is the BrahMos Missile? The BrahMos is a long-range supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, or fighter aircraft. It is a joint venture between the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Russian Federation's NPO Mashinostroyeniya, which together have formed BrahMos Aerospace. The name BrahMos is a portmanteau formed from the names of two rivers, the Brahmaputra of India and the Moskva of Russia. What are the Indian Air Force and the DRDO planning to do? Now, the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have started deliberations to enhance the current BrahMos air-launched missile. The original BrahMos had a range of 290 km, but this was extended to 450 km and is now being further extended to 800 km for some variants. The air-launched BrahMos-A is one of the variants which is being upgraded to an 800 km range, while the BrahMos-II (hypersonic) variant is expected to have a range up to 1,500 km. A series of ground tests of a land-based BrahMos variant with an 800 km range has already been conducted, thus marking a significant addition to India's already blooming armoury. BrahMos-A unleashed hell on Pakistan during Operation Sindoor As mentioned above, the BrahMos missile proved to be a match winner for the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan-based terrorists and terror camps. The BrahMos struck deep inside the enemy territory and destroyed strategic targets with high precision and proved to be a game-changer. During Operation Sindoor, about 14 BrahMos-A air-launched variants were fired at targets across the LoC and inside Pakistan. These were launched from the Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jets. The result was: 11 of Pakistan's 13 major airbases were destroyed. Its immaculate accuracy, speed of Mach 3 (3704 kmph), combined with the range of 450 km, decimated much of the Pakistani military infrastructure. What is BrahMos-2K hypersonic cruise missile? According to media reports, a big agreement can be reached between India and Russia to restart the BrahMos-2K hypersonic cruise missile programme when Russian President Vladimir Putin visits India. BrahMos-2K is considered to be the next generation of the existing BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, and it will have hypersonic speed. It will be based on the technology of Russia's Zircon (3M22 Zircon) missile. PS: As and when the BrahMos variant with 800 km range is ready and inducted, it will make India an even more formidable and fearsome opponent for the enemy.

Tiruvannamalai Corporation to donate non-biodegradable waste for road-laying works
As part of its green initiative, Tiruvannamalai Corporation is all set to donate its accumulated 250 tonnes of non-biodegradable waste, mostly plastic waste like PET bottles, from Monday onwards to use for road laying works. Officials of Tiruvannamalai Corporation, who have spearheaded the initiative, said that a Coimbatore-based Startup has signed an MoU with the Corporation to collect untreated non-biodegradable wastes from Micro Compost Centres (MCC) of the civic body free of cost. Donated plastic waste by the corporation will be used by the startup for road-laying works in the Coimbatore region. 'The first shipment of plastic waste will be given to the startup on Monday. Thereafter, the private firm will take the collected plastic waste from MCCs at least once a week on its own. It helps us to make the town much cleaner as the total volume of waste to landfill will be minimal,' S. Selva Balaji, Commissioner, Tiruvannamalai Corporation, told The Hindu. As per the plan, accumulated plastic waste at MCCs, which are located at the centre of the town, will be safely disposed of by the Startup in the coming days. Each MCC, on an average, spreads over 2,000 sq ft and covers at least 4,000 households, covering four wards within the corporation limits, which comprises 39 wards. Every day, on an average, 65-70 tonnes of waste are generated in the town. Of this, around 20 tonnes of waste is plastic waste, mostly PET bottles. Each ward has 60-70 streets with around 400 households and a capacity of 300 kg of garbage generation. Corporation officials said regular disposal of plastic wastes will provide more space at MCCs to treat biowastes into organic manure for farmers in surrounding villages. Initially, the project will be implemented in the core areas of the town before extending it to more areas. The civic body was expanded into a corporation in January 2025 by merging 18 surrounding villages.
