Police officer dragged by vehicle during wellness check in Somers
A police officer was dragged by a vehicle while conducting a wellness check in Somers on Monday night.
State troopers and officers with the Somers Police Department were conducting the check at a residence on School Street shortly after 8 p.m. when a man tried to flee the area in a vehicle, according to Connecticut State Police. An officer who tried to stop him was dragged a few feet by the vehicle and was not injured, state police said.
Authorities are attempting to locate the man they say took off. According to state police, he has been identified as 36-year-old Joshua Waite, and he is believed to be driving a silver Toyota Corolla with the Connecticut license plate AW-61278.

Woman allegedly caught going 95 mph on I-91 with 1-year-old in car
A woman was arrested when state troopers found that she allegedly went nearly 100 mph on Interstate 91 on Monday with a 1-year-old in the car. Troopers received multiple 911 calls just after 11 p.m. reporting that a silver Hyundai Sonata was being driven erratically on I-91 South in the area of Exit 32, according to Connecticut State Police. A trooper stopped in the shoulder near Exit 27 and spotted the Hyundai shortly thereafter. The trooper followed the vehicle and allegedly clocked its speed at 95 mph in a 65 mph zone, state police said. The driver pulled over when prompted to do so near Exit 22 in Rocky Hill and was identified as 24-year-old Nahgee Baldwin of New Haven, according to state police. Troopers during the stop noticed a 1-year-old in the rear of the vehicle. State police said they also found that Baldwin did not have a valid license, and that the Hyundai was unregistered and uninsured. Baldwin was charged with reckless driving, first-degree reckless endangerment, improper use of registration plate, risk of injury to a minor, operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating without a license. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on June 24.

2nd defendant arraigned in 2020 killing of convenience store clerk
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One of two men facing murder and attempted robbery charges in connection with the shooting death of a convenience store clerk in 2020 was arraigned Monday afternoon. Not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of Miles Clancy and his next hearing date was scheduled June 20. Clancy is being held without bail. Co-defendant Joseph Lee Aguirre was previously arraigned and is due back in court June 25. The shooting happened Oct. 14, 2020, at a convenience store at North Chester and McCord avenues. Man sentenced for deadly shooting of trespasser in Cal City neighborhood Two masked men entered the store and one of them immediately pulled a gun, according to court documents. The clerk grabbed a BB gun to defend himself and was shot once. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspects ran to a waiting black Toyota Corolla. The car was missing its rear license plate, but a review of surveillance footage showed the same vehicle had gone to the store earlier that day, its rear plate clearly visible, investigators said in court documents. New Haven woman arrested after allegedly driving 95 mph with 1-year-old in car
ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven woman was arrested Monday night and charged with reckless driving and risk of injury for allegedly driving 95 miles per hour on I-91 South with a 1-year-old child in the vehicle, according to the Connecticut State Police. At approximately 11:03 p.m. Monday, state police reported receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a Silver Hyundai Sonata allegedly driving erratically on I-91 South in the area of exit 32. A state trooper on the right shoulder in the vicinity of exit 27 spotted the Hyundai as it passed their location and clocked the Hyundai allegedly travelling at a speed of 95 mph while in a 65 mph zone. The trooper pulled the Hyundai over near exit 32 in Rocky Hill to conduct a traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Nahgee Baldwin of New Haven. Troopers also observed 1-year-old in the back seat of the car. Baldwin allegedly did not have a valid driver's license and the Hyundai was neither registered nor insured. Baldwin was arrested without incident and charged with: reckless driving reckless endangerment in the first degree improper use of registration plate risk of injury to a minor operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance operating an unregistered motor vehicle operating without a license Baldwin was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at New Britain Superior Court on June 24.
