Police officer dragged by vehicle during wellness check in Somers
A police officer was dragged by a vehicle while conducting a wellness check in Somers on Monday night.
State troopers and officers with the Somers Police Department were conducting the check at a residence on School Street shortly after 8 p.m. when a man tried to flee the area in a vehicle, according to Connecticut State Police. An officer who tried to stop him was dragged a few feet by the vehicle and was not injured, state police said.
Authorities are attempting to locate the man they say took off. According to state police, he has been identified as 36-year-old Joshua Waite, and he is believed to be driving a silver Toyota Corolla with the Connecticut license plate AW-61278.
