Man Utd in talks to sign two 16-year-olds ‘regarded as among best in country' including England U17 captain and City kid
The bids are spearheaded by United 's head of academy recruitment Luke Fedorenko and director of academy Nick Cox, who are trying to attract some of the UK's best young players to boost the academy.

According to The Athletic, Man Utd are keeping tabs on highly-rated youngsters Seth Ridgeon and Tyrese Noubissie who are both considering the offers.
Fulham ace Ridgeon, 16, has already played for the club's Under-21s despite his young age.
The attacking midfielder is also the captain of England 's Under-17 side.
Noubissie, 16, is set to depart Manchester City after finding opportunities to be limited.
The versatile midfielder, who can play as a No6 and No8, joined City from Leicester two years ago following a whopping £1million deal.
United are very interested in both wonderkids and recently invited them for a tour at Old Trafford and Carrington where they met director of football Jason Wilcox, while manager Ruben Amorim also made a brief appearance.
However, Man Utd face competition for both teenage sensations during the summer transfer window.
Ridgeon has attracted interest from City, Chelsea, and Liverpool, while Fulham are fighting hard to hold onto him.
Noubissie, on the other hand, is eyed by RB Leipzig and Strasbourg who are making attempts to convince him to move abroad with his situation being described as "open".
There are other European clubs keeping tabs on the France Under-16 international because of his continental heritage as he was born in Scotland to father, Patrick, who is from Paris.
Nevertheless, United are thought to be leading the race, especially in Ridgeon's case as they have tabled an "impressive proposal".

Jacob Bethell to captain England in T20 series against Ireland
Jacob Bethell is set to become England's youngest-ever men's captain in an international match after being selected to lead the side in three T20s in Ireland next month. The 21-year-old is on the Test fringes but he is already a white-ball mainstay and the esteem with which he is held in is emphasised by his appointment to captain England from September 17-21 in Dublin. When he does so, Bethell will eclipse the existing record held by Monty Bowden, who was 23 years and 144 days old when he oversaw England in a Test against South Africa at Cape Town in 1888-89. 'Jacob Bethell has impressed with his leadership qualities ever since he has been with the England squads,' said national selector Luke Wright. 'The series against Ireland will provide him with the opportunity to further develop those skills on the international stage.' Bethell has received the opportunity as Harry Brook takes a breather following the ODI and T20 series against South Africa from September 2-14, the squads for which were also announced on Friday. Assistant Marcus Trescothick will step up as head coach in Ireland, with Brendon McCullum not making the trip, reprising the role he had in England's white-ball tour of the Caribbean last winter. All-format quartet Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith, Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse have also been taken out of the firing line against Ireland, giving them a rest in preparation for this winter's blockbuster Ashes. Fast bowling duo Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson are not in any of the three squads as they start focusing on this winter's tour to Australia, which gets under way on November 21 in Perth. Arsenal get their Premier League season underway against Manchester United on Sunday and will hope to finally win a title under Mikel Arteta after finishing third three times under the Spaniard Mike Arteta has already drawn the attention of Arsenal's naysayers after the Gunners boss made a baffling comment in his first press conference of the season. The north London side get the campaign underway with a clash against Manchester United on Sunday as Arteta and co once again target a league title. Arsenal have seen plenty of investment this summer and signed Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and finally a striker in the shape of Viktor Gyokeres. Sporting director Andrea Berta has been busy in the transfer window and will hope his work has strengthened Arteta's hand. The Spanish coach has overseen three consecutive second-place finishes in the top-flight and agonisingly missed out on adding Arsenal's first Premier League title. And Arteta remains adamant he will keep working to deliver what is required at the Emirates. "Yeah, you keep digging, digging, digging and you have to be digging because one day the gold is going to be there. That's all the time. When I've been taught, when I've been educated and that's it," said Arteta. "For three seasons we've had more points than any other team in this league, which is incredible. That's how you have all the consistency. Now we have to do it in a season to have one more point or the same amount of points and more goals different than any other team. That's the objective." The issue with Arteta's hypothesis is that it's not exactly correct. Despite finishing above Manchester City last season, it is Pep Guardiola's side who have still tallied the most points in the last three seasons. City claimed 251 points, Arsenal 247 and Liverpool 233. "Factually incorrect," pointed out one fan, "Second again." "Its hurts to always fail," another added. "'We've had more points than any other team in this league'. Clearly not son, else you'd have three titles, no?" "Even though he has never reached the lofty height of 90 points, he speaks as if he has experienced a tremendous championship battle," noted a further rival. "Keep digging bro… might find yourself in championship and eventually win it," joked another fan. And with the same sentiment one supporter said: "Keep digging, one day you might end up in Chelsea 's trophy room… still looking for something you can actually win." Nevertheless, Arteta is keen to get the season underway. "I'm super excited, I can't wait. It's been a really productive pre-season. We've made such an evolution in the squad as well and we're ready to go," he said. "The mood of the place, the energy around it, the enthusiasm that the boys, the staff came with from day one, now we're going to do better, to keep improving as a team and to win.
