Polish Star Świątek Bids Farewell to Rome Open Tennis Championship

World No. 2 and defending champion Iga Świątek of Poland was eliminated from the Rome Masters (a WTA 1000 clay-court tennis tournament) in the third round after losing to American Danielle Collins on Saturday.
Świątek, who was aiming to defend her title successfully, failed to deliver her expected performance, while Collins put on a standout display, securing a straight-sets victory with a score of 6–1, 7–5.
With this win, Collins became the oldest player in the past 40 years to defeat a top-two seed at the Rome tournament.
Collins will now face Ukraine's Elina Svitolina in the fourth round, who defeated American Hailey Baptiste in a three-set thriller, 6–4, 3–6, 6–4.
Meanwhile, Tunisia's Ons Jabeur also exited the tournament after losing to Italy's Jasmine Paolini in straight sets, 6–4, 6–3. Paolini will next face Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko, who advanced after her German opponent, Laura Siegemund, withdrew before the match.
In other matches, American Peyton Stearns secured her spot in the fourth round with a hard-fought victory over compatriot Madison Keys, 6–2, 2–6, 7–6. Additionally, Russia's Diana Shnaider advanced after defeating Romania's Jaqueline Cristian in straight sets, 6–3, 6–3.

Leipzig, Wolfsburg Compete to Sign Coach Jacob Neestrup
Berlin – SABA: Media reports have revealed that German club RB Leipzig is interested in appointing Danish coach Jacob Neestrup as the team's new head coach. Neestrup, 37, is also reportedly a candidate for the managerial position at another Bundesliga club, VfL Wolfsburg. According to Kicker and Sport Bild newspapers on Tuesday, Leipzig's sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, has reached out to Neestrup.
