Oman: 18 arrested for illegally entering Sultanate
The Police Command in the Governorate of Al Wusta, in cooperation with the Police Special Task Unit in the Wilayat of Haima, made the arrests of the 18 Ethiopians.
The authorities added that legal procedures are being completed against the individuals.
Authorities urged the public to report any suspicious activities and reiterated their commitment to protecting national security.
Last month, Omani authorities had arrested 29 individuals, which included 27 Pakistanis, one Iranian and one Bangladeshi, while they attempted to enter the Sultanate via boat from Iran.

3 UAE citizens killed in Oman crash were from same family; baby still in hospital
Three Emiratis who were killed in a devastating road crash in Oman have now been identified. Rashid Gharib Al Yamahi, a police officer in Fujairah, his wife Jawaher Mohammed Al Yamahi, and his mother-in-law Khadija Ali Al Yamahi died in the accident, according to Arabic daily newspaper Al-Khaleej. Rashid, 25, served as a First Corporal in the correctional and punitive establishment at Fujairah Police. His wife, Jawaher, was 21, and her mother, Khadija was 51. Their eight-month-old daughter remains hospitalised in Oman, while several other family members sustained injuries and are receiving treatment. Those transferred to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Fujairah include Ali Al Yamahi, his wife Shaikha Al Sareedi, and their children Dalal (4), Mohammed (7), and Khadija (1), as well as Ali's siblings Sabiha (15) and Hamad (18). Khaleej Times had earlier reported on the crash, which took place on Friday morning on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road in Dhofar, Oman. The family had travelled to Salalah for a summer break, but the tragic accident occurred just 12 hours after they left the UAE. The three victims were laid to rest in Fujairah on Saturday after their bodies were repatriated from Oman. Funeral prayers were held at the Abdul Rahman Al Nasser Mosque, followed by burial at Al Ghub cemetery in Dibba Fujairah. In a statement to Al-Khaleej, the grieving father, Gharib Al Yamahi, said, 'Despite the pain of loss and the shock of their passing, I believe in God's will and destiny. Death is a truth we all face, and all we can do is pray for their forgiveness and the recovery of the injured.' He added that the family's holiday plans turned tragic just hours after departure. According to Oman Police, the crash involved three vehicles and resulted in five fatalities, including two Omanis and three Emiratis. Eleven others were injured, among them nine Emiratis, five of whom are children. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the injured were airlifted back to the UAE after receiving initial medical care in Oman. The repatriation and medical transfer were coordinated by the Ministry, the National Search and Rescue Centre, the UAE Armed Forces, and the UAE Embassy in Muscat. The Ministry urged UAE citizens to exercise caution when travelling by road and to adhere to traffic laws and speed limits. The General Command of Fujairah Police also mourned the death of Rashid Gharib Al Yamahi and extended condolences to his family on their socials, praying for mercy and peace for his soul.

Emirati father pays tribute to police officer son killed in Oman road crash
The father of a Fujairah police officer who was among three members of the same Emirati family killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Oman on Friday has told how a joyful holiday road trip 'turned to tragedy'. Rashid Gareeb Al Yammahi, 25, his wife Jawaher Mohammed Al Yammahi, 21, and his mother-in-law Khadija Ali Al Yammahi, 51, died in an accident involving three cars on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road in Dhofar Governorate at 7am on Friday. Eight more members of the family – who were travelling in two cars on a holiday from the UAE to Salalah in Oman – were injured in the incident, which claimed the lives of five people in total. The deceased were laid to rest in the Al Ghob area of Dibba Al Fujairah on Saturday. Seven of their injured relatives were airlifted back to the UAE to receive medical treatment. Gareeb Al Yammahi, father of Rashid and brother of Khadija, told The National that it was shocking news for the family. 'I believe in God's will and destiny despite the bitterness of loss. All we can do is to pray for their forgiveness and for the recovery of the injured survivors,' Mr Al Yammahi said. 'The sudden death of people you love is very harsh. Their summer vacation turned to tragedy and sadness.' He said the family party set off for Oman last Thursday night, with the accident taking place about 12 hours after their departure. Mr Al Yammahi said that his seven-month-old grandchild was also injured in the accident and is recovering in Dhofar Hospital in Oman. 'The hospital told us that she is doing well and will fly home tonight. She is what remains from Rashid's family,' he added. Rashid's brother-in-law, Ali Al Yammahi, his wife and his three children, aged seven, four and one, were injured in the accident along with Ali Al Yammahi's brother Hamad, 18, and his 15-year-old sister Sabiha. 'They are in Khalifa hospital recovering. Sabiha is in Rashid Hospital in Dubai and they will perform surgery on her.' Rashid, who was newly married, was staying with his father in their house in Dibba Al Fujairah. 'He was with me all the time and I was building a house for him. Patience is bitter and I have many memories with them. May they rest in peace in heaven,' Mr Al Yammahi added. He thanked the UAE government for the support and for standing with his family by quickly stepping in to transport the bodies of the deceased and provide medical treatment for the injured. The joint mission was led by the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mofa) in co-ordination with the National Search and Rescue Centre of the National Guard, the Air Force and the Air Defence Command. Fujairah Police paid tribute to Rashid following his death. 'With hearts faithful to God's decree and destiny, Fujairah Police mourns the death of policeman Rashid Gareeb Al Yammahi,' the force said in a post on X, which called for his family to be granted 'patience and solace'. Mofa also expressed its appreciation to the Omani authorities for their swift response and close co-operation with the UAE embassy in Muscat. The government has reminded all UAE citizens to exercise caution when travelling by road, adhere to traffic laws and strictly observe speed limits to ensure their safety and that of others.

Saudi authorities arrest over 21,000 residency and labor violators in one week
RIYADH — The Ministry of Interior announced that more than 21,000 individuals were arrested in a nationwide crackdown on residency, labor, and border security violations during the past week. The arrests included over 12,500 violators of residency regulations, 5,500 individuals breaching border security laws, and approximately 3,000 for labor-related offenses. The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to maintain public order and enforce compliance with national regulations. Authorities also intercepted 2,072 individuals attempting to illegally cross into the Kingdom, with 47 percent identified as Yemeni nationals and 52 percent as Ethiopians. An additional 28 individuals were caught trying to exit Saudi Arabia unlawfully. Meanwhile, 37 people were apprehended for facilitating illegal entry, transportation, shelter, or employment of violators, including those covering up such offenses. Currently, 14,000 violators are undergoing legal procedures, with around 12,400 of them being men. The Ministry also reported that 6,200 violators have been referred to their respective diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents, 3,300 are finalizing travel arrangements, and 10,000 individuals have been deported. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its warning that anyone who assists violators — whether by providing transportation, shelter, or any form of support — faces penalties of up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million, and confiscation of any vehicles or properties used.
