Ensure innocent Kashmiris don't bear brunt of war on terror: Omar, Mehbooba, Lone
Omar Abdullah
, PDP chief
Mehbooba Mufti
, and People's Conference chief
Sajad Lone
have warned amid a massive crackdown on terrorists, including demolition of their family homes, in the
Pahalgam attack
aftermath.
'Punish the guilty, show them no mercy, but don't let innocent people become collateral damage… There must be a decisive fight against terrorism and its origins. The people of Kashmir have come out openly against terrorism. It's time to build on this support and avoid any misplaced action that alienates people,' Omar said.
Earlier, National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi alleged on X, 'Kashmir and Kashmiris are being given collective punishment.'
Mehbooba said the Union govt should tread carefully and avoid alienating innocent people while acting against terrorists. 'There are reports of thousands being arrested and scores of houses of common Kashmiris being demolished along with those of militants.'

She urged the Centre to direct the authorities to ensure that innocent people are not made to bear the brunt, as alienation aids terrorists' goals of division and fear.
Lone said that using 'collectiveness to define criminality or terrorism is a curse and will never allow reconciliation and social introspection.'
'The mass protests against the Pahalgam killings were a rare occurrence, a first of its kind in the last 78 years. It showed a shift in mindset — from a society in which some significant sections may have accorded social sanctity to the concept of violence, to a society which marched in thousands across villages and towns condemning violence, thereby signifying the social stigmatisation of violence,' he said.
'This is a monumental shift, a milestone. But at the same time, a fragile shift. I hope those in charge of law and order do understand the significance of the shift and don't do anything erroneously that impedes the shift or facilitates a return to the earlier mindset.'
He said there is a general feeling across the Valley that entire families are being punished for the actions of one person.

True Dharma is Accepting All Diversities, Says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat
1 2 Nagpur: The world often believes differences must be erased to achieve unity, but harmony is built on acceptance of diversity, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS ) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Wednesday. Speaking at the inauguration of the newly built 'Dharmjagran Nyas' office in Bhagwan Nagar here, Bhagwat asserted "Hindu dharma teaches us to follow the universal dharma of humanity. Everyone's path may differ, but the destination is the same. One should neither attempt to change another's path nor should there be disputes over which path one follows." Emphasising that India has a responsibility to set an example to the world, Bhagwat said sanatan dharma's essence lies in embracing diversity with warmth and respect. "Despite differences, India's people are ultimately one. Accepting diversity is true dharma. It is not restricted to God but exists for society. When practised in the right spirit, dharma brings balance and peace," he said, adding 'dharm jagran' was essential to sustain Hindu practice beyond scriptures by awakening purity, truth, penance, and compassion. The RSS chief stressed that the country must present the world with a model of coexistence rooted in its civilisational values. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Taylor Swift Is Photographed Without Makeup, This Is How She Really Looks. Drawing on history, Bhagwat underscored that practising dharma demands courage and steadfastness in adversity. "Dharma means duty, and from it emerge concepts like rajdharma, prajadharma, and pitrudharma. Many face hardships that test their resolve and lead them away from the righteous path, but those with determination never waver," he said. Citing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Bhagwat noted that despite facing challenges, the Maratha ruler found solutions with courage and wisdom. "Many sacrificed their lives without abandoning dharma, enduring suffering rather than renouncing their beliefs. Such steadfast individuals are our ideals," he said. The inauguration ceremony at Dhanshree Hall was attended by RSS national executive member Bhaiyyaji Joshi, Vidarbha prant sanghchalak Deepak Tamshettiwar, prant sah-sanghchalak Shridhar Gadge, Nagpur mahanagar sanghchalak Rajesh Loya, Dharmjagran Nyas national head Sharad Dhole, and Nyas president Vijay Kaithe. Fazilpuria link or unpaid loan? All theories under scanner in Gurgaon murder
Gurgaon: Days after a gangster claimed responsibility for shooting dead a property dealer linked to rapper Fazilpuria, police are investigating another angle involving an unpaid loan. Delhi-based property dealer Rohit Shokeen's friend, a witness in the case, has told cops that the 39-year-old was asked to come to Gurgaon to collect Rs 30 lakh that he had lent years ago to a friend, Deepak Nandal. Sources said on Wednesday the witness told police that Nandal had borrowed the money from Shokeen in 2023 and hadn't returned it despite repeated requests. The friendship between the two deteriorated after Shokeen's father last year filed a complaint with the Delhi commissioner's office, alleging that Nandal and his family were threatening them with consequences. Nandal, he said, had borrowed money from Shokeen to make a music video. On Aug 4, Shokeen was standing near his car near Palm Hills society in Sector 77 when two motorcyclists with their faces covered struck him with around a dozen bullets. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Doctors Shocked: New Weight Loss Trick Burns Fat Quickly Her Life & Health Learn More Undo Shokeen's Delhi-based friend survived the attack unhurt as he had just crossed the road to buy cigarettes. "The friend who accompanied Shokeen to Gurgaon but survived the attack told us that Nandal, who lives abroad, had asked him to collect the loaned money from his aides here. But we are still verifying the same," a police officer said. So far, investigators have not concluded any motive for the attack. After the Aug 4 murder, gangster Sunil Sardhania on social media claimed responsibility for killing Shokeen. "I, Sunil Sardhania, got Rohit Shokeen murdered at SPR Road in Gurgaon. Fazilpuria will have to pay our money or else many people will die in this fight," the post declared, mentioning even Deepak Nandal. The police officer told TOI cops are working to authenticate Sardhania's claim made online. TOI reported earlier this week that the murder could be the result of a bitter fallout between Fazilpuria and Nandal, who had previously produced the rapper's songs. Sardhania, a member of the Himanshu Bhai gang, purportedly warned the singer to return Rs 5 crore to Nandal, who had invested in building the rapper's career. Fazilpuria, however, consistently denied any loan arrangements and said that only music labels invested in his career. Cops had briefly detained a food delivery executive who witnessed the murder but was not linked to the shooting. The police officer said they have not found any evidence that indicates the involvement of Shokeen's friend who survived the attack in the murder plan. "We are investigating all possible angles and theories," the officer said.
