CIE offers free resit after paper leak

Express Tribune02-07-2025
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has announced that students affected by the leak of three A-level exam papers during the May/June 2025 session will be eligible for a free resit in the upcoming November series.
The decision comes amid growing concerns from students, parents, and officials after the examination board confirmed last month that portions of several question papers had been compromised.
CIE, which conducts O- and A-Level exams globally, acknowledged the paper leak in June and stated that affected students would receive compensation in the form of additional marks for the impacted questions.
The leak sparked widespread outrage and demands for transparency, particularly after students raised complaints throughout the examination window.
Prior to the board's public admission, a parliamentary committee had been informed that the findings of the inquiry into the alleged paper leaks would be shared after June 16, a delay that only intensified public scrutiny.
On Monday, CIE posted an official update on its Facebook page addressing candidates who appeared in any of the three compromised papers from the June 2025 session.
The affected assessments include Cambridge International AS and A Level Mathematics Paper 12, Cambridge International AS and A Level Mathematics Paper 42, Cambridge International AS and A Level Computer Science Paper 22.
"The results for these syllabuses will be released as normal," the statement read.
"We're offering free syllabus entry resits in the upcoming November 2025 exam series for students who sat one or more of the three affected papers in June 2025.
"We have sent a message to all candidates and their families through schools and will provide further information following the release of our June 2025 exam series results," CIE added.
"Candidates are asked to contact their schools should they have further questions, and thank you once again to all students and families."

Adorable photos were shared on Edinburgh Zoo's social media, showing Mina snacking on her treats beside a box reading, "Happy 23rd Birthday, Mina". Visayan warty pigs are native to the Visayan islands - an archipelago in the Philippines - but can only now be found on two of the islands, having become extinct on the other four due to hunting and habitat loss. Warts on the boar's face are part of a defence mechanism, designed to protect them from sharp tusks when fighting occurs. Boars also grow thick, hairy manes which they can raise to increase their size and presence, according to Edinburgh Zoo. The Zoo cares for a group of nine warty pigs, including Mina. A post on the Edinburgh Zoo's Instagram reads: "Happy birthday, Mina! At 23 years old she is currently the oldest recorded Visayan warty pig! "In the wild they typically live to be 15. Grêmio ambushed at airport, security guard attacked 📹

The departure of the Grêmio delegation to Belo Horizonte had moments of tension this Saturday (16) in Porto Alegre. A group of 50 fans staged an ambush, invading a private area of Salgado Filho Airport when the bus with the athletes and technical committee arrived. The Tricolor will visit Atlético on Sunday (17), for the 20th round of the Brasileirão. Fernandão, a longtime Grêmio and Brazilian national team security guard, was assaulted while trying to contain the situation. He didn't even board the bus, as he needed medical attention and later filed a police report at the Police Palace. Grêmio arrived on Saturday in 15th place in the Brazilian Championship. They have 20 points from 18 matches. Vasco, who has 16 points from 17 matches, leads the Z-4. See the updated table here. The Tricolor comes from a defeat to Sport at the Arena. They have only one win in the last seven rounds played. And they suffered a drop in the playoffs of the South American Cup. A new stumble could mean the end of coach Mano Menezes' tenure. Grêmio will be without Braithwaite, who is serving a suspension. Kannemann Lucas Uebel/Grêmio This article was translated into English by Artificial Intelligence. Colts offensive lineman Blake Freeland carted off the field with a leg injury during Packers game

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Blake Freeland was carted off the field with a lower right leg injury during Saturday's preseason game against Green Bay. Freeland was injured early in the second quarter on a running play on third-and-1. As the play ended, his right leg got pinned underneath the pile before Freeland fell to the ground. Trainers immediately put the leg in a boot. When Freeland was lifted onto the cart, teammates gathered around to encourage him. He was ruled out of the game a few minutes later. Freeland was expected to back up Braden Smith at right tackle. Smith signed a four-year, $100 million contract extension early in training camp. Freeland is a third-year veteran out of Brigham Young. ___ AP NFL: The Associated Press
