When a court is sitting in the open, the press can report on anything that happens, unless there are specific reporting restrictions.
As a principle, we do not remove a defendant's identifying information (such as name, age and address) from court reports. To do so would be set a precedent and damage the foundations of open justice. It could also defame someone innocent, who happens to have the same name.

2 arrested, found with over $3k worth of stolen items, ‘evidence of identity theft,' and meth
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two people were arrested earlier this week in what the Austin Police Department called a 'shoplifting blitz' operation. Officers 'conducted a proactive shoplifting blitz operation' near Lakeline Mall on Tuesday, according to a press release from APD. During the operation, APD responded to a report that two people were removing security devices from unpaid merchandise and hiding the items while inside Kohl's. Store employees told police that the two people hid several items in reusable shopping bags and a purse. Police saw the suspects leave the store with the stolen items and then get into a black Tesla. Shortly after, they were taken into custody. APD said officers recovered around $1,600 worth of merchandise that had been stolen from Kohl's, and about $2,000 worth of goods that had been stolen earlier in the day from H-E-B and Home Depot, as well as stolen items from a Buda Walmart. Officers also discovered evidence of identity theft and fraud, as well as methamphetamine, according to the release. Ada Johnson, 43, and Daryl Johnson, 44, were arrested and charged in connection to the thefts, and additional charges are pending, according to APD. Ada Johnson was charged with theft with two prior convictions, which is a state jail felony, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, which is also a state jail felony. IPD: Man with multiple warrants found hiding on roof of two-story home
IDER, Ala. (WHNT) — The Ider Police Department said it arrested a man who had multiple arrest warrants after he was found hiding on the roof of a home Friday. The Ider Police Department said officers were conducting an ongoing investigation related to the theft of stolen property. During the course of the investigation, officers approached the residence of Freddie Bradford in an attempt to speak with him and take him into custody on six outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants from three separate agencies. As officers approached the residence, IPD said Bradford fled the scene on foot. Later that evening, officers received information that Bradford had returned to the home. Additionally, Ider officers responded and surrounded the residence. During a search of the property, officers watched as Bradford hid on the roof of the two-story home. He attempted to flee by jumping from the roof but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident. During the arrest, officers seized a variety of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia from the residence. 'It's probably not the best idea to mix drugs, eluding the police, and jumping off buildings into your weekend routine. If you're going to act dumb, you better be tough,' Ider Chief Malone said.
