City centre bridge to close for repair works
A bridge across the River Hull will be closed at the weekend for repair work.
North Bridge in the city centre will close from 06:00 BST on Saturday 17 May to 06:00 on Monday 19 May.
Work includes essential resurfacing and waterproofing works "to ensure the structure remains safe for road users", Hull City Council said.
The council added that the work was also part of preparing the road to handle diverted traffic ahead of the upcoming six-month closure of Drypool Bridge for major repair and strengthening work.
Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the bridge during the work, but motorists will be diverted over Drypool Bridge.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council, said: "Due to the increased traffic volume that will be passing over North Bridge as the diversion and dedicated bus route during the Drypool Bridge closure, these works are essential to maintain the integrity of North Bridge throughout this period.
"We understand the inconvenience this closure will cause and appreciate the public's patience and cooperation whilst our contractors carry-out these vital works."

Lorry fire closes motorway in both directions
A major motorway route was closed in both directions after a lorry caught on fire. National Highways said the A1(M) in Hertfordshire was closed between junction two for Hatfield and junction three for St Albans. It said there were delays of 30 minutes for motorists approaching the incident. Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said it worked at the scene to tackle the fire. Stocks remain low despite rain
Yorkshire Water has warned that reservoir levels remain low, despite rainfall in the region over the bank holiday weekend. Its reservoir stocks have been falling since late January due to one of the driest springs on record and increased customer demand during warmer temperatures. They dropped to 62.9% on Monday from 66.1% the previous week, which is far below the average of 87.8% for this time of year. The firm said the recent wet weather caused a "very small" increase in river flows, particularly in the rivers Ure, Nidd, Wharfe and Aire, but many were dropping back down towards the "historically low levels" seen earlier in May. Dave Kaye, the company's director of water, said: "The rain over the weekend and the picture for an unsettled week ahead is a welcome relief for the region after a very dry spell. "While the rainfall over the weekend helped gardens recover and will help trees and plants in full spring growth, gardens and trees will have taken most of the rainfall, leaving less to run off into rivers, groundwater or to top up reservoirs." Yorkshire Water thanked customers for helping to create a drop in overall water usage in recent days and urged people to continue to save water where possible. "Coupled with wind and some sunshine, a lot of the rainfall has quickly evaporated," he added. "Soils are also very dry after nearly four months of very dry weather so will soak up a lot of rain, holding the water and not allowing it to flow to rivers or groundwater." Signalling fault causes major rail disruption
A signalling system fault is causing disruption to rail services in West Yorkshire. As a result of the issue, trains could be cancelled, delayed or revised, according to National Rail. The problem was expected to continue to affect services until at least 10:45 BST, a spokesperson said. Train operator CrossCountry posted on X that customers could use their tickets to travel on Northern services via any reasonable route. Services from Leeds to Chester, Hull, Halifax and Knottingley were among those to have been delayed on Wednesday morning, while a service to Manchester Victoria had also been cancelled.
