Calls Mount for Umpire's Firing After Mets-Red Sox Controversy
The Boston Red Sox are hosting the New York Mets on Tuesday night at Fenway Park. Taking the series opener, Boston improved to 24-25, which ranks second in the AL East standings. Monday's loss dropped New York to 29-19, which saw them fall a half-game back of the Philadelphia Phillies for the NL East's top spot.
Facing two-time All-Star starting pitcher Walker Buehler, the Mets were unable to tally a hit in his 2.1 innings of work. Recording just two baserunners, both via walks, New York was fortunate to get to Boston's bullpen early after Buehler was ejected by home-plate umpire Mike Estabrook.
Buehler was outraged after a clear strike was called a ball, leading to the ejection of both he and Red Sox manager Alex Cora. Fans believe Estabrook missing that call, and then making two ejections, should get him fired.

"Yeah this Red Sox Mets umpire needs to fired immediately @MLB," said one fan.
"that ump should be fired that's insane," said another.
"Mike Estabrook should be fired," claimed one. "This kind of conduct is detrimental to the game."

These calls have continued pouring in.
"Soft umps/refs are the WORST thing in sports," said one. "This guy should be fired tomorrow."
"Ump should be fired and banned from baseball forever," said another.
"The ball was clearly right down the middle," said another. "The ump needs to be fired. I know bad calls happen but not calls like that one."
"That home plate umpire needs to be fired immediately," another added.

Ex-NBA star DeMarcus Cousins ejected after ugly fracas with fans in Puerto Rico
Drafted fifth overall in 2010, DeMarcus Cousins has been playing overseas since his last NBA appearances in the 2021–22 season with Denver and Milwaukee. Drafted fifth overall in 2010, DeMarcus Cousins has been playing overseas since his last NBA appearances in the 2021–22 season with Denver and Milwaukee. Photograph:DeMarcus Cousins was ejected from a game in Puerto Rico on Monday night after a heated confrontation with a courtside fan and a hostile exit that nearly escalated into chaos. The 34-year-old former NBA All-Star and Olympic gold medalist, now playing for Mets de Guaynabo in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN), got into a verbal altercation with a fan during a timeout in the fourth quarter. Advertisement Video shows Cousins grabbing his crotch at the fan, who responded by flipping him off. Cousins then appeared to lunge at the man before teammates stepped in. Officials ejected Cousins, but the situation worsened as he left the court. Fans booed and threw drinks and food as Cousins shouted back and flipped his middle finger at the crowd. At one point, Cousins lunged toward the stands and had to be physically restrained by teammates and security. The moment drew instant comparisons to the infamous Malice at the Palace incident in 2004, though no further violence occurred. Security eventually escorted Cousins to the locker room, soaked in beer and visibly agitated. Advertisement No formal discipline had been announced as of Tuesday. BSN officials are reviewing the incident. Cousins returned to Guaynabo this season after playing in Taiwan and Mongolia. He first joined the Mets in 2023. Drafted fifth overall in 2010, Cousins was a dominant NBA big man for much of the 2010s. He averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds over 11 seasons and made four straight All-Star teams. Injuries, including a torn achilles and ACL, derailed his career. His last NBA appearances came in the 2021–22 season with Denver and Milwaukee. Since then, Cousins has continued playing internationally. His return to the BSN this year was seen as a chance to revive his profile. That opportunity may now be in jeopardy. The Mets have not commented on whether Cousins will face further punishment or remain with the team. BSN president Ricardo Dalmau is expected to address the matter this week.

Former Georgia LB predicted to have breakout season with new school
Former Georgia LB predicted to have breakout season with new school Former Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Damon Wilson, who transferred to the Missouri Tigers this offseason, is expected to have a breakout season at Missouri. Wilson is ranked as the No. 3 transfer in the country and the No. 1 edge transfer. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound edge defender is just one of three players to be ranked as a five-star transfer, according to 247Sports. Wilson never had outstanding production at Georgia, but he was behind several NFL draft picks, like Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams, in Georgia's front seven rotation. As a sophomore, Wilson recorded 22 tackles, three sacks and forced two fumbles. He was poised to have a big season with Georgia in 2025, but instead opted to transfer to Missouri. His transfer means that Georgia lost all six of their leading sack producers from the 2024 college football season. Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA TODAY envisions Wilson having a breakout season with his new school. Wilson is a former five-star recruit in the class of 2023. "The 6-4, 245-pounder could be a cornerstone of a Missouri defense that lost its top edge threat in second team All-SEC pick Johnny Walker Jr., and more opportunities to flash his explosiveness could vault him up draft boards," said Middlehurst-Schwartz. Wilson could elect to enter the 2026 NFL draft after the 2025 college football season. He has the physical potential to play in the NFL and could further help his draft stock with a productive junior season at Missouri. Middlehurst-Schwartz named Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch as another player that is poised to rise in the 2026 NFL draft.

What ball should high-handicappers play, U.S. Open gear, Father's Day Gift Guide
What ball should high-handicappers play, U.S. Open gear, Father's Day Gift Guide Discover which golf balls golfers who shoot in the 90s and 100s should be playing, check out U.S. Open stafff bags and accessories, and more. Every golfer participating in this week's U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club will be using a multi-layer ball with a urethane cover because they deliver the best overall performance. Blending low spin off the tee with high spin in irons and wedges, balls like the Bridgestone Tour B X, Callaway Chrome Tour, Srixon Z-Star, TaylorMade TP5, Titleist Pro V1, and Wilson Staff Model can enhance a player's game. However, for golfers who typically shoot in the 90s and 100s, are those balls the best option? Especially when you consider that they range in price from $45 to $55 per dozen. If you are someone who loses three or four balls per round, that price might be hard to handle. I talked with experts from several major brands about golf balls for recreational golfers who shoot in the 90s and 100s -- what they need from a ball, how certain types of balls can help them hit more fairways, and how to balance short game spin with the skills a less-accomplished golfer brings to the course. As always, I recommend buying a few three-ball sleeves of different types of balls, testing them on the course, and seeing which performs best for you. That said, "What golf balls should high-handicap golfers use?" is a great place to learn about one of the most interesting categories in the golf equipment world.
