National Lok Adalat to be held on July 12 across Koppal district: Judge Mahantesh Daragad

The National Lok Adalat will be conducted across all courts in Koppal district on 12 July, offering the public a golden opportunity to settle their legal disputes amicably and efficiently, announced Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Mahantesh S. Daragad. Addressing a press conference at the DLSA office in Koppal on Friday, Mr. Daragad urged litigants and the general public to make the most of this opportunity to resolve both pre-litigation and pending court cases through mutual compromise. He noted that the initiative is being conducted under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge and DLSA Chairman C. Chandrashekhar, and will be organised in all courts of Koppal on the scheduled date. 'People can settle a variety of disputes in the Lok Adalat, including civil cases, land acquisition issues, bank recovery matters, applications, labour disputes, MMDR cases, cheque bounce cases, motor accident claims, matrimonial disputes, and compoundable criminal cases,' he explained. Mr. Daragad emphasised that resolving matters through compromise helps preserve relationships and leads to a mutually agreeable closure. Furthermore, any court fees paid will be fully refunded if the case is settled in the Lok Adalat. However, he pointed out that once a matter is resolved in a Lok Adalat, there is no provision for appeal, thus saving both time and money for litigants. He urged the public to fully utilise this chance to resolve disputes outside the regular judicial process. District SATHI Committee constituted Mr. Daragad said that, in line with the directive of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, the District SATHI Committee (Society for Assistance to Children in Difficult Situation) has been formed, comprising representatives from multiple departments including the DLSA, District Child Protection Unit, Child Welfare Committees, tahsildars from all taluks, education and health officials, officials from the Department of Women and Child Development, police, panel advocates, and para-legal volunteers. The committee's main aim is to identify abandoned children in the district who do not yet have Aadhaar cards and facilitate their enrolment. This step is crucial to ensuring that such children are legally entitled to government benefits. The public has been urged to inform the committee if they know of any such children. The Judge also announced that the DLSA, Koppal, invited applications for the posts of Chief Legal Aid Counsel, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Counsel, and Assistant Legal Aid Counsel. Eligible candidates can apply between June 9 and June 19 by submitting the prescribed application form along with necessary documents before 6 p.m. on the last date.
