Invest Qatar partners with Quantinuum to accelerate expansion and advance the region's quantum computing ecosystem
DOHA, Qatar, May 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Invest Qatar, the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar, has inked a strategic agreement with Quantinuum, the world leader in quantum computing and developer of the world's highest-performing quantum computer. The partnership aims to strengthen Qatar's quantum computing ecosystem by supporting Quantinuum's recently announced expansion into the region, which was highlighted last week by the President of the United States during his historic state visit to Qatar.
Through this partnership, Invest Qatar will provide tailored support services to Quantinuum, including access to key stakeholders, sector-specific insights and opportunities for collaboration with local innovation and research institutions. Invest Qatar will also promote initiatives that drive quantum computing adoption and raise awareness of Quantinuum's contributions to Qatar's tech landscape. Through this partnership, Invest Qatar will support Quantinuum's expansion into the country to apply quantum technologies for the benefit of key sectors in Qatar, while enhancing local research and development (R&D) capabilities, to create high-skilled jobs and train the next generation quantum workforce in Qatar. This includes facilitating connections with key stakeholders, enabling collaboration in R&D, and aligning with national initiatives aimed at advancing quantum technologies.
As part of the agreement, Quantinuum will play a central role in advancing Qatar's quantum capabilities by launching a range of targeted initiatives, including knowledge-sharing platforms, educational seminars and technical workshops delivered by Quantinuum's global experts. The partnership also envisions launching joint research projects with Qatari academic and research institutions, exploring opportunities for local integration of quantum technologies and facilitating access to Quantinuum's cutting-edge quantum computing infrastructure. Additionally, internship opportunities will be offered to students from Qatar-based universities, providing direct experience in real-world quantum computing applications.

Clear Investment Group expands leadership ahead of new equity fund

As Clear Investment Group gears up to launch its second investment fund, the Chicago-based workforce housing investor has made several additions to its leadership team, including four new hires and one promotion, according to a press release shared with Multifamily Dive. The company's new leaders have joined its acquisitions, asset management, technology and finance teams. Matt Kleifges has been named senior director of asset and property management, responsible for optimizing property performance. Kleifges was formerly the senior vice president and head of asset management and hospitality at Detroit-based City Club Apartments, according to his LinkedIn profile. Steve Duguid has joined the company as director of construction and capital projects. Duguid is a licensed architect with experience in project management. In his new role, he will oversee capital improvements and construction initiatives in CIG's portfolio. Steve Taylor, CIG's new director of technology, is experienced in artificial intelligence integration and Yardi property management software. His work will include implementing technology-driven solutions to drive operational efficiencies and data-driven decision-making, according to the release. John Adams is CIG's new financial controller, contributing to Clear's financial management and reporting. Adams was previously a financial analyst manager at Chicago-based nonprofit Envision Unlimited, according to his LinkedIn profile. Harbor Group reportedly acquires 3,590 apartment units for $625M

Subscription service Real Estate Alert first reported the news, according to a JPMorganChase email shared with Multifamily Dive. The 11 garden-style properties included in the sale are located in South Carolina, Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee. They were built between 1996 and 2010 and are 95% occupied. A small percentage, 15%, have been recently renovated. While some buyers aren't ready to jump back into the market, Norfolk, Virginia-based apartment owner HGI has been active in 2025. In May, HGI bought The Kendrick from Toll Brothers for $182 million, according to RealPage. The sale of the property, built in 2018 by the Fort Washington, Pennsylvania-based home builder, ranked as one of the largest apartment transactions in the first quarter. In February, affiliates of HGI announced the acquisition of Livano Canyon Falls, a newly constructed 300-unit apartment property in Northlake, Texas. It is part of the larger Canyon Falls master-planned community, which covers 1,199 acres across Northlake, Argyle and Flower Mound. Late last year, HGI Chief Investment Officer of Multifamily Yisroel Berg signaled that the firm saw an opportunity to acquire apartments in 2025. 'We are ready and eager to be active where the opportunities arise,' he told Multifamily Dive. Those opportunities can come from a number of places. 'There's a path where there's a ton of brand new units delivering,' he said. 'There's a path where there's distress. There are a lot of different ways where volume can pick up dramatically.'
