Prince William's reaction to meeting a baby who shares his son's name is melting hearts

The royal was caught on camera in full dad mode, positively gushing over a baby boy in the crowd.
Prince William is going viral for an adorable interaction with a 7-month-old baby who happens to share the same name as his and Kate Middleton's eldest son, Prince George.
The Prince of Wales, 43, attended The Royal Cornwall Show in Wadebridge on June 6 alongside his aunt, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, 60. While visiting the Food and Farming Pavilion, he stopped to greet a mother and her baby — and instantly lit up when he learned the infant's name was George.
In a video shared to Instagram on Aug. 7 by George's mom, Anna Rebecca, the royal can be seen leaning in to say hello, tickling the baby's front, and complimenting his outfit. 'I love your top,' William said warmly. The baby, dressed in a sweater with a tractor motif, beamed back at him.
The future king also asked how old George was, called him 'so sweet' and 'very smiley,' and checked in on whether he's yet sleeping through the night. When Anna Rebecca admitted, 'Now he is,' William smiled and said, 'You enjoy your tractors, mister,' before waving and moving on.
The proud mom captioned the clip, 'When George met Prince William at Royal Cornwall show... He was absolutely lovely with George and took so much time to chat with us. We were so lucky."
Since posting, the video has racked up well over 50,000 likes and hundreds of comments praising the prince's warmth:
'William in full on daddy mode. Love it,' one commenter wrote.
Another wrote, 'He is so like his mother… He always stops to talk to the little ones and their parents."
Another fan noted, "He knows how important it is to be a king of the people, to connect and inspire others,' urging the mom to save the 'tractor sweater' for her son to look back on.
Another commenter wrote simply: 'Im so proud to have this man as our future King."
Others pointed out that while William often says Princess Catherine is the one who loves babies, this moment proves he does, too. 'Future King cooing all gooey over your boy,' one follower gushed.
For many in the comments, the interaction was a small but touching reminder of William's reputation for being approachable and genuinely interested in the people he meets.

TV presenter Jay Blades is due to appear in court charged with rape. West Mercia Police previously said the 55-year-old, who fronted primetime BBC show The Repair Shop, will face a first hearing at Telford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. Blades faces two allegations of rape but will not be expected to enter pleas during his first appearance. The defendant, of Claverley in Shropshire, found fame on restoration programme The Repair Shop, which he started presenting in 2017. He stepped back from presenting the show last year. Russell T Davies Wants You to Stop Asking Him If ‘Doctor Who' Is Dead or Not

We can officially add Russell T Davies to the list of creative people who've become irritated with fans wanting updates on a particular project they're inextricably linked to. Think George R.R. Martin and The Winds of Winter, or James Gunn and The Batman Part II. Now, the Doctor Who showrunner from 2005-2010 and again since 2023 would like you to stop asking him Doctor Who questions. No doubt those queries have only gotten more intense thanks to the utter lack of updates about the show's future. Ncuti Gatwa's run as the character ended when the Fifteenth Doctor regenerated—confusingly—at the end of May, and fans still have no idea what's coming next, if at all. 'There's nothing to report, nothing's happening. You'll know when you know, when we know. I don't know,' Davies said on the Pilot TV podcast this week (via Doctor Who TV). He also pointed out, 'Conversations are between the BBC and Disney. I don't work for either of them. I work for Bad Wolf, so I'm not part of those rooms. So I literally don't know. And even people I work with every day, so they couldn't know what's really going on. I'm going, 'I don't know.' I really don't know.' In another recent interview, this time with the Big Issue magazine (via Deadline), he brought up the fact that even though he's devoted a lot of his career to Doctor Who, that's not all he's done. 'I love Doctor Who, but I don't own it. It's not mine. So in the end, my heart will always be with the things that I own,' including shows he created himself like Queer as Folk. The magazine did ask him about the future of Doctor Who, because frankly, people are dying to know. He gave a one-word answer: 'Behave!' That's not quite Gunn telling Batman Part II speculators to 'Get off Matt [Reeves]' nuts,' but we may escalate there soon. Want more io9 news?
