
ASI injured in knife attack by Buxar youth
Buxar: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) sustained serious injuries after being attacked with a knife by a youth in Malah Chakiya village under the Mufassil police station area in Buxar district on Thursday night.
ASI Nitish Kumar of Mufassil police station had received information that a young man in the village was vandalising his own home and threatening family members. Responding alone, the officer proceeded to the residence of the accused, identified as Satyendra Kumar.
On arrival, the ASI found the house engulfed in flames and the accused armed with a vegetable-cutting knife, threatening his family. When the officer tried to intervene, Satyendra attacked him, inflicting serious injuries to his head and body.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer's uniform was soaked in blood following the assault.
Buxar SP Shubham Arya visited the hospital to inquire about the officer's condition.
During the attack, Satyendra also snatched the ASI's cellphone and smashed it with a stone. An FIR was lodged based on the officer's statement. With assistance from locals, the accused was arrested shortly after the incident from a nearby house.
Police also recovered the knife used in the attack.
During initial questioning, the accused's parents said he is addicted to drugs and frequently causes disturbances at home.
When contacted, SP Arya said, "The accused has been taken into custody. The matter is being investigated in depth. Attacks on policemen will not be tolerated and strict legal action will be taken against the accused."

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 14 (ANI): The collection of DNA samples from the family members of the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash continued on Saturday, to help identify the bodies. Many came to the BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad to provide their samples. Samples from over 250 people have already been collected in the massive identification effort. It will also suggest policy changes, operational improvements and training enhancements required to prevent such occurrences and handle post-crash incident situations. Stating the objective of constituting the committee, the order said that it was formed to ascertain the root cause of the crash. It also said that the committee will recommend necessary improvements and formulate suitable SOPs to prevent such incidents in the future.
