TLC divides fans as it announces ANOTHER 1000-Lbs spin-off
TLC has divided fans as it announced another 1000-Lb. spin-off.
The network has added 1000-Lb. Roomies to its line-up and introduced the show and its stars, Jaz and Nesha, in a new trailer released Thursday.
Viewers are introduced to Jaz and Nesha, two roommates struggling with their weight and their conflicting approaches to dropping the pounds.
While Jaz is determined to lose the weight for the sake of her daughter - even considering surgery and admitting to using a weight loss shot - Nesha has a more cautious approach to the issue.
The show is the latest 1000-Lb spin-off from TLC.
1000-Lb Sisters, which stars Amy Slaton-Halterman and Tammy Slaton, debuted on the network in 2020 and returned for a fifth season last month. A spin-off, 1000-Lb Best Friends, followed in 2020.
The latest show about Jaz and Nesha sparked mixed reactions in the comments section of the Instagram post unveiling the trailer, with several burnt out by the topic and others excited, with one declaring them the 'new Tammy and Amy.'
'I'm so over this era of TLC,' one posted.
'Did we need another show like this TLC?' another wrote.
'That's it dammit, TLC it's time to stop the madness now,' another wrote.
'Tlc will literally make a show about anything it's ridiculously dumb,' one posted.
'I'm officially boycotting the show,' another wrote.
'I'll be watching! I love these shows!' another posted.
But there was also plenty of anticipation for this new addition: 'I'm giving them a chance and they are actually pretty Asab,' one wrote.
'Another one??? Damn first 1000lb sisters then 1000lb friends now this?? Lowkey wanna watch it tho,' one wrote.
'The new Tammy and Amy,' another wrote.
'Seated,' one proclaimed.
The new show debuts June 10 on TLC at 10pmET/PT and the trailer teased all the fun and drama awaiting fans.
'We're both a little extra. Merely 1,000 pounds extra,' Nesha says.
Jaz admits they have both 'tried so many things' to drop the pounds, with Nesha shown preparing them a drink made out of sea moss - which they both reject in disgust.
Series about losing the weight, Jaz considers undergoing surgery
'But now, it's time to get busy,' Jaz says.
Now serious about dropping the pounds for the sake of her daughter, she visits a doctor about undergoing weight loss surgery.
'I'm all my daughter has. I have to be here for her,' she tells her doctor.
The stakes are high, with the doctor telling the camera: 'If Jasmine doesn't undergo the surgery, most likely she will not survive for long.'
However, Jaz is fearful of going under the knife: 'Surgery is something that like scares the f**k out of me,' she says.
Complicating matters are the fact for Jaz is that she and her roommate are not on the same page when it comes to their weight loss goals.
'It would be easier if you were doing this with me,' Jaz tells Nesha.
However Nesha admits: 'I want to lose weight but that doesn't mean I have to be stuck on a scale all the time.'
The methods Jaz has taken to lose the weight include a 'weight loss shot' however she does not specify which one.
'I've been taking the weight loss shot,' Jaz tells family, who express their reservations. 'I don't like that shot,' one of her family members says.
Jaz's weight loss concerns Nesha with her roommate now admitting to being in a lot of pain.
'I'm in pain,' Jaz says, clarifying she felt the pain 'everywhere.'
'Yeah she's losing the weight, but at what cost?' Nesha postulates in a confessional.
At one point, Jaz seemingly suffering a medical emergency as she is taken away by an ambulance.
She breaks down while speaking with Nesha from her hospital bed via Facetime.
'Nesha, I'm scared. What if I'm never gonna be able to walk again?'
Cameras also capture the dramatic moment she is wheeled into surgery. Jaz appears anxious tapping her finger before undergoing an unknown procedure.
'I don't know what happened to her but I know that it's a wake-up call,' a tearful Nesha says.

Farmer Thomas came to the end of his emotional quest to find love on Monday's finale of Farmer Wants A Wife. The South Australian wheat, barley, and lentil farmer declared his feelings for school teacher Clarette, both 35. As previously revealed by Daily Mail Australia, the couple are still together, and going strong. Clarette packed up her bags and relocated to Kimba to live with Farmer Thomas on his farm earlier this year. She is currently working at a local school teaching secondary English. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. After realising that Clarette was The One, Thomas asked to speak with Rachael and Jess separately to tell them that Clarette had won his heart. Both ladies wished him well before leaving the farm together. Making his boldest move yet, Thomas left a handwritten note asking Clarette to meet him at sunset for an important conversation. Their journey has been rife with drama, and the 13th episode saw Thomas make a dramatic comeback to the show just 24 hours after blindsiding his ladies by abruptly storming off the farm follow a spat with Clarette. Clarette was left reeling from their argument and had felt betrayed after discovering he'd been messaging his ex, Claire, despite insisting their connection was over. Thomas was quick to shut down any lingering doubts. 'I mean it, I swear. The contact's deleted. No contact at all,' he insisted. His emotional plea seemed to work, with Clarette accepting his apology before the pair sealed their reconciliation with a passionate kiss. It comes after the fate of Thomas and Clarette after they finished filming was revealed. Despite some major mid-season hiccups and walkouts, have reportedly patched things up and are still very much together. 'It was rocky, especially after the whole honesty box disaster, but Thomas realised Clarette was the one,' a production source told Daily Mail Australia. 'They've been trying to make long-distance work and are discussing next steps.'
