Season 10 opens with a two-episode premiere a week apart and sees the team embark upon on what is being billed as their most dangerous mission yet - to Spike Island in Cork Harbour in the Republic of Ireland. Originally a monastery, then a fort and, in the mid-nineteenth century, the biggest prison in the British Empire. Colloquially, it is often referred to as "Ireland's Alcatraz".
At that point it was used to incarcerate many people arrested for stealing food during the famine of the 1840s so it would probably be more surprising if there were no reports of tormented souls haunting the island. And so the team are determined to record any activity there and - among the locations so far revealed - Bangor, Maine, the former hometown of horror author Stephen King.

How ESPN Aims to Prop Up Disney+
When ESPN launches its streaming app Aug. 21, bundling is a big part of the strategy. Disney is planning to use the new sports content to help drive subscribers to sign up for its streaming bundle, which includes the new ESPN app, Disney+ and Hulu, in the hopes of bringing more frequent engagement to its streaming services and cutting down on churn. More from The Hollywood Reporter 'Entertainment Tonight' Star Kevin Frazier Teams With Stephen A. Smith at Straight Shooter Media U.S. Open 2025 Livestream: Here's How to Watch the Grand Slam Tennis Tournament Online WNBA on Sling TV: How to Watch New York Liberty vs. Las Vegas Aces Live Online Amid declining cable viewership, ESPN (priced alone at $29.99 monthly) is also being asked to appeal to fans by bundling with other sports services. Ahead of launch, ESPN had been experimenting with placing content within the Disney+ app, with the original shows SC+, a daily SportsCenter spinoff, and Vibe Check, a female-led studio program, to see whether there is crossover appeal for sports content with the core Disney+ audience, which skews younger and more female than the typical ESPN audience and has a larger user base than ESPN+. In doing so, execs found that subscribers were coming back to Disney+ more frequently, an important goal post for the streamer; that offered proof that there could be an appetite for a bundle that brought sports to fans of general entertainment and vice versa. The goal is now to bring in those subscribers, as well as the new, incoming sports fans, to the streaming bundle, which will be priced at launch at what it costs for ESPN alone, a promotional $29.99. ESPN Unlimited will be available inside the Disney+ platform, as will Hulu, which the company has found increases engagement for that content as compared to when subscribers have to watch on a separate app. 'Bundle subscribers are among the most engaged. They churn the least, they watch the most, and they're the most satisfied subscribers we have,' Alisa Bowen, president of Disney+, tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview on August 15. The Disney+ audience (128 million subscribers) is viewed as additive to the main audience for the new ESPN app, which is namely sports fans who aren't already subscribed to ESPN through cable, satellite or digital subs. 'We're not looking to lure people from existing environments who are perfectly happy getting ESPN through cable, satellite or digital subscription,' says Burke Magnus, ESPN's president of content. The ESPN app will include all of ESPN's live sports and studio shows as well as fantasy sports products, betting information, docs and more. The company signed a deal to bring WWE's premium live events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble, to the service in the U.S. starting next year and has an expanded rights deal with the NFL, including the NFL Network, which will be integrated into the streaming app. The preference is to keep subscribers within the Disney family. But subscribers who are looking for more sports content will also have the option this fall to bundle with the new Fox One Sports app ($39.99), and Magnus notes that kind of thing could just be the start. 'I just think there will be more of those,' he says, 'whether those are other media or sports media products from other media entities or whether those are other existing products that are specific to sports. A lot of leagues, for example, and teams, have their own streaming products that could be packaged and bundled with ESPN.' All of this comes after the collapse of Venu, the sports-focused streaming service founded by Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox that dissolved in January after legal threats from competitors. Magnus adds, 'Either the time wasn't right or the circumstances weren't right, but it certainly opened up the aperture for us, and I think others, to imagine a world where this kind of thing, whether it's all of ESPN or co-bundling in the streaming environment would be possible.' Amanda Knox: Hulu series helped me ‘grieve' life before wrongful conviction
NEW YORK — Hulu's new limited series about Amanda Knox allowed the exonerated American woman to 'finally grieve the young person that I was' before she was wrongfully convicted in Italy for the murder of housemate Meredith Kercher. Knox, 38, was enjoying a semester in Perugia in 2007 at age 20 when she and her boyfriend discovered 21-year-old Kercher brutally murdered in the girls' home. Her arrest — stemming in part from a coerced confession with neither translator nor lawyer present for the interrogation — soon followed, along with sexist media portrayals and the now-infamous 'Foxy Knoxy' moniker. Knox and Monica Lewinsky executive produced the eight-part 'The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox,' which stars Grace Van Patten in the title role. Now a podcaster and criminal justice reform activist, Knox is 'so grateful' to the New York actress for her portrayal in the series, which debuted Wednesday. 'I felt like I could finally grieve the young person that I was,' Knox told People Tuesday at the series' New York premiere. 'Someone recently said that what happened is someone stole my sparkle. They didn't just steal my freedom, they stole my sparkle. And seeing [Van Patten] bring it back again — I'm just so grateful to her, that she's honored that for me.' Knox was convicted in 2009 and sentenced to 26 years behind bars. She was acquitted and freed two years later, only for the Italian courts to overturn the acquittal in 2013, at which point Knox was back in the U.S. The following year, she received a 28 1/2-year prison sentence in absentia, That ruling was overturned in 2015, with Knox finally exonerated. 'That is something that I've struggled with for so long, is how much people have rendered me two-dimensional,' Knox told People, adding that 'Tell Me Lies' actress Van Patten, 28, 'finally honors that young person that I was and the person I am today.'

Amanda Knox, Monica Lewinsky reclaim the red carpet together
Amanda Knox and Monica Lewinsky are reclaiming their stories on the red carpet. The "Waiting to Be Heard" author and the anti-bullying activist posed together on the red carpet Aug. 19 while promoting their new eight-part Hulu series "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox" (now streaming). For the show's New York City premiere, Knox wore a long, lacy Giambattista Valli Paris dress paired with pink Aquazzura heels, while Lewinsky stunned in a gold dress and pumps. It's been nearly two decades since Knox, then a 20-year-old student at the University of Washington, traveled 5,600 miles to study abroad in Perugia, Italy, about two hours north of Rome. Knox moved into an apartment, which she'd share with Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old British student. The two had become friends, but police arrested Knox and charged her with murdering Kercher. The new Hulu show follows Knox's nightmare journey, spending nearly four years in an Italian prison before being acquitted in 2011. She'd be found guilty (again) in 2014 and finally exonerated in 2015. Lewinsky, too, has faced the scrutiny of mainstream media's sometimes harsh light. The media painted the former White House intern, who had an affair with President Bill Clinton in the 1990s while he was in office, as a "little tart" (The Wall Street Journal) and "a ditsy, predatory White House intern" (The New York Times). Amanda Knox: 'Twisted Tale' asks, 'in the wake of trauma, how do you rebuild your life?' Monica Lewinsky produced 'Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox' on Hulu Over the past decade, though, Lewinsky reclaimed the affair's public fallout as a contributing writer to Vanity Fair with a viral 2015 TED talk about public shaming. In more recent years, Lewinsky – who is credited as an executive producer on "Twisted Tale" – has rebounded as a rising producer in Hollywood. Knox said that Lewinsky "held my hand through this experience because she's been a trailblazer in this regard of a woman who had her worst experience used to bury her and turn her into a punchline," adding that she came "back and reclaimed her sense of self and her purpose in life and didn't allow all of these external forces to diminish her." She first stepped into the industry in September 2021 as a producer on Ryan Murphy's "Impeachment: American Crime Story," partly inspired by events in her own life. That fall, she executive-produced the HBO documentary "15 Minutes of Shame." "From my own experience, the first step was surviving," Lewinsky told USA TODAY. "Holding on to the hope that things can change. It won't be as bad as it is in the eye of the storm forever." Knox told USA TODAY that Lewinsky's reclamation made her believe that "there was perhaps a path forward for me in this world." So Knox asked to meet, and the pair later became friends. When Lewinsky learned four years later that Knox wanted to adapt her 2013 memoir, she reached out. The rest is history (or a Hulu series out now).
