MediaTek has flooded the smartphone market with chipsets that aren't much different when it comes to features and performance. The company's latest chip, Dimensity 8450, is basically a Dimensity 8400 with a few minor improvements that probably don't matter in the grand scheme of things. For starters, MediaTek's new Dimensity 8450 chipset is based on TSMC's second-generation 4nm node, just like its predecessor, Dimensity 8400. On top of that, it features the same octa-core configuration: 1x Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.25 GHz, 3x Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 3.0 GHz, and 4x Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 2.1GHz.Additionally, the chipset uses the same Mali-G720 MC7 GPU (graphics processing unit), which is clocked at 1300 MHz. The only difference is that the Dimensity 8450 received some gaming and ISP optimizations, according to MediaTek One of the gaming-oriented boosts Dimensity 8450 got is StarSpeed Engine, a powerful GPU technology that promises to further enhance real-world gaming. Besides that, MediaTek says the IPS has been improved with live-stream optimizations, but that's about it.It's also important to mention that MediaTek claims the Dimensity 8450 features 'the most powerful generative AI in its class.'Another interesting improvement over the previous generation Dimensity chipset is the addition of a power saving feature: MediaTek UltraSave 3.0+. The latter is supposed to offer greater 5G power efficiency compared to Dimensity 8400.MediaTek's new chipset will most likely be included in a bunch of mid-range smartphones in the next coming months. However, considering how quickly new chipsets are launched, smartphone makers will move to the next new thing in a jiffy. The new Dimensity 8450 won't have a long life, but it's a small step toward MediaTek's next big thing. The first phones equipped with MediaTek's Dimensity 8450 chipset have already been announced. Reno 14 Pro should make its debut in India very soon, followed by a K series model.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra could have the same main camera sensor as the Galaxy S26 Ultra
The upcoming Oppo Find X9 Ultra has already been rumored to sport a new 200 MP main camera, and today prolific Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station has shed light on which sensor it will use. It turns out it's the one that Sony is developing - with 200 MP resolution and a 1/1.1" type size. That's not quite 1-inch type, but pretty close. Oppo Find X8 Ultra Intriguingly, Samsung has been rumored to have chosen this exact sensor to use in the Galaxy S26 Ultra's main camera. If all of these rumors pan out, we'll have an interesting situation next year when both the Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Find X9 Ultra arrive, as they will compete against each other while using the same main camera sensor. Well, in theory at least - if the Find X9 Ultra isn't officially sold outside of China (and that's definitely not outside the realm of possibility), then given Samsung's minuscule market share in China, the two won't really compete head-to-head anywhere. Anyway, the Find X9 Ultra will launch after the Chinese New Year (which falls on February 17). DCS says it might arrive a little bit sooner than its predecessor, which was unveiled on April 10, so if we were to bet we'd go with an unveiling sometime in March. Source (in Chinese)

vivo T4 Pro teaser campaign starts with a telephoto camera revelation
Vlad, 15 August 2025 vivo is getting ready to launch the T4 Pro in India. While the company isn't yet ready to reveal when the phone will make its debut, it has already started teasing it through Flipkart, which of course tells us where it will be sold. The T4 Pro will have a "flagship level" periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, as well as many AI features. The design of the camera island seems to resemble the V60 and X200 FE, thus clearly positioning the T4 Pro as a recent addition to the roster. vivo T4 Pro teaser images According to a recent rumor, the T4 Pro uses Sony's IMX882 sensor for its periscope telephoto camera, just like the aforementioned V60 and X200 FE, so the resemblance between the three is more than just skin-deep. The T4 Pro is allegedly 7.53mm thin, and has a quad-curved screen. It will apparently be available in Blaze Gold and Nitro Blue. It's powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, and will feature a big battery despite its slim profile. Via
