Beginner's pluck: Teacher and newspaper columnist Jennifer Horgan
A shy, sensitive child who worried what other people thought, Jennifer started writing poetry aged 10 or 11.
'I was interested in death — my mum's parents had died when she was 12, and I wrote dark, dramatic poems,' she says. 'I didn't read much until I was a teenager.'
Considering journalism as a career, Jennifer started writing freelance for the Evening Echo in her early 20s: 'But someone said I wasn't tough enough for journalism, and I thought, I have an English degree, so I can teach.'
After training, she moved to London and worked in an all-boys' Catholic comprehensive school in East London.
'It was a deep culture shock,' she says. 'At first, I felt at sea and cried every day. I got lost on the tube, but after a year I loved it.'

After six years, married with two children, Jennifer moved to Abu Dhabi, working in an international school: 'We had a third baby and came home in 2018. I now teach three days a week in an Educate Together Secondary school.'
Also, Jennifer does some freelance journalism: 'I wrote 'Secret Teacher' for the Irish Examiner for some years, and in 2021 wrote a non-fiction book, O Captain, My Captain, on the education system. I now write features for The Echo and a column for the Irish Examiner.'

The Taittinger family, who own the vineyard, have teamed up with one of the world's most prestigious champagne houses to realise a dream of making the first true Anglo-French sparkling wine - and it worked. When Sun Travel asked Matt whether it tasted similar to Champagne he responded: "It's the same. The only reason you can't call it Champagne is because it's not grown in the Champagne region. "The landscape is used for Game of Thrones now, that's filmed over there because the landscape is so jaw-dropping. "We went horse riding across the cliff tops. When you look down, you see all these beautiful little coves that you wouldn't even know were there." Trailer drops for new romantic comedy featuring Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie
It traces the chance meeting of David (Colin Farrell) and Sarah (Margot Robbie), single strangers, who meet at a mutual friend's wedding. "It's funny how the most beautiful places make you feel the most alone,' Farrell's character says to Robbie at the wedding, as seen in the trailer. She replies by saying: 'Maybe it depends on who you are with.' Both believe they cannot or will not be loved and choose to head on a 'big, bold, and beautiful journey' facilitated through a magical GPS. After the wedding, David and Sarah, brought together unintentionally by their car's GPS systems, take a road trip down memory lane, accessed through magical doors, where they relive all of their past failed relationships. The trailer shows both Farrell and Robbie visiting Farrell's high school, in a moment when he told a girl that he loved her but she does not reciprocate. "It feels just like it felt back then,' Farrell's character says to Robbie. Her character goes back to visit her mother, who she said she misses. It has been described as a 'funny, fantastical, sweeping adventure' where they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts. Audiences will learn how they got to where they are in the present and 'possibly getting a chance to alter their futures'. The film, which releases in Irish cinemas on September 19, also features American star Kevin Kline and English actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It was written by Seth Reiss, also known for the 2022 movie The Menu, which stars Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor Joy and Nicholas Hoult. The rom-com is directed by Kogonada, who is known for Columbus (2017), After Yang (2021) and Pachinko (2022). Dubliner Farrell is is just off the back of playing a mobster in HBO's The Penguin which won him the IFTA Award for Lead Actor in a Drama. He is currently working on psychological thriller The Ballad of a Small Player opposite Tilda Swinton. Robbie is also starring in gothic psychological drama Wuthering Heights alongside Jacob Elordi, due to be released next year.
