N.Sembilan Ready To Welcome Arrival Of Delegates Attending ASEAN Meeting
PORT DICKSON, May 31 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan government is ready to welcome the arrival of delegates who will be attending several meetings in conjunction with Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, which is scheduled to be held at a hotel here on Sept 9-10.
State Tourism, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Nicole Tan said their preparations included aspects such as cleanliness, beautification, landscaping and programme content that will highlight the unique culture and traditions of Negeri Sembilan, particularly the state's unique adat perpatih.
'Our preparations are almost complete, just a few areas that need further improvement to ensure everything is in perfect order for us to welcome the arrival of the delegates.

Police receive seven reports after 80 haj pilgrims stranded at KLIA
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed receiving reports on the 80 haj pilgrims stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after being duped with the offer to perform haj using Mujamalah visas. Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said so far, seven reports have been lodged by the affected individuals. "I can confirm that we have received the reports, and the case is being investigated under Sections 420 and 511 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 4). On June 3, the media reported that around 80 individuals preparing to depart for the haj were stopped by a special task force at KLIA, reportedly after their travel agency had arranged for them to travel using tourist visas instead of the promised Mujamalah visas. The pilgrims reportedly failed to obtain the Mujamalah visa due to a technical issue with the Nusuk system. However, the travel agency allegedly insisted on flying them out using tourist visas, resulting in them being denied departure. The Mujamalah visa is a special visa issued by the government of Saudi Arabia to certain individuals or groups and is not part of the official haj quota allocated to Malaysia. – Bernama

Sabah records 26.8pc rise in French visitors

Kota Kinabalu: The security level along Sabah's east coast remains at the highest level, with no untoward incidents reported over the past few years, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. He gave this assurance to Malaysian Ambassador to France, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, who paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Menara Kinabalu, Tuesday. During the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed his delight at hearing that Sabah continues to be a key destination for French visitors, ranking third in terms of European arrivals to the State, after the United Kingdom and Germany. The number of French visitors in the first quarter this year recorded an increase of 26.8 per cent, reaching 2,116 compared to 1,669 during the same period last year – and the number continues to grow. Hajiji is confident that continuous, more proactive and aggressive promotional efforts will help boost the number of French arrivals to Sabah. Eldeen, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, was appointed as Malaysia Ambassador to France in April 2024. He has held various important positions, including serving as Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia. Hajiji and Eldeen discussed a range of strategic cooperation opportunities between Sabah and France, including in the tourism sector, which would bring mutual benefits to the people of the State. ‘Flying roti canai' draws long queues at Osaka expo

(Bernama pic) OSAKA : 'Flying roti canai' has quickly become a crowd-puller at Expo 2025 Osaka, drawing visitors to the Malaysia Pavilion with its skillful preparation and irresistible buttery aroma, Bernama reported yesterday. The sight of roti canai being expertly tossed high into the air by Muhammad Muiz Ruzaini and Mohamad Zul Imran Zulkifle, combined with the tempting aroma, has whetted the appetites of visitors, some of whom are willing to queue for up to two hours. Muiz said he had not expected to be selected as part of the Malaysian delegation to Expo 2025 Osaka, where he would showcase the rich flavours of Malaysian cuisine on the world stage. What makes the experience even more rewarding is the overwhelming response from visitors, the Kedahan added. 'Many praised the deliciousness of the roti canai and gave very positive feedback, both in terms of taste and our presentation. 'After they ate, many would come up and say 'oishi' (delicious). Some even repeated it seven times,' he said, adding that most of the visitors were from Japan, South Korea and China. The freshly made roti canai, served with chicken curry and dhal, is priced at 1,680 yen (about RM50) per serving. Meanwhile, visitor Yoko Yoshinaga, who visited Malaysia 30 years ago, described the dish as 'sweet and addictive', saying it had a 'unique texture'. 'This is my second time having roti canai. I first saw it on X, and the unforgettable taste brought me back. I lined up again just to relive the experience,' she said. Another visitor, Hanako Sekimukai, said she was pleasantly surprised by its flavour. 'I've been to Malaysia before but I never had the chance to try roti canai. The chicken curry served with it wasn't too spicy, which made it even more enjoyable,' she said, adding that the cultural performances at the pavilion brought back fond memories of her time in Malaysia.
