Keanu Reeves' Band Dogstar To Play L.A. Concert Next Week

Reeves plays bass for the group, which formed in the early 1990s with Gregg Miller on guitar and vocals and Rob Mailhouse on drums. Guitarist and singer Bret Domrose joined in 1994, and the group recorded an EP and toured before Miller left in 1995. Now a trio, its debut album, Our Little Visionary, came out in 1996. Sophomore disc Happy Ending arrived in 2000, but the band split in 2002.
Fast-forward two decades, and Dogstar resurfaced and started to play live again. Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees streeted in October 2023, and the trio launched a concert tour. The band played last summer's Ohana Festival in Dana Point, 60 miles south of Los Angeles, and has done a handful of gigs since.

Reeves most recently reprised his John Wick character for last month's franchise-spinoff film Ballerina and has a number of movies in the works, including an untitled romantic thriller that reunites the actor with his Speed co-star Sandra Bullock, along with Aziz Ansari's feature directing debut Good Fortune, a high-concept comedy that also stars Ansari and Seth Rogen. Reeves also is set to make his Broadway debut in September, starring opposite his Bill & Ted buddy Alex Winter in a revival of Waiting for Godot.

The Mean Girls star appeared on the Thursday, July 31 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform "Shy" from her sophomore album Bite Me. Rapp, 25, sings on a set decorated like a small apartment before leaning backwards out of a brick window and gracefully climbing to the fire escape — while still carrying a tune and wearing heels. "Don't handle me with care / When you're pullin' my hair / Baby, ruin my life," she croons. "I want it bad, I swear / That I'm really not scared / I'm just a little bit shy." "Shy" appears on Rapp's new album Bite Me, which she announced in May and came out on Friday, Aug. 1. She spoke about how her mom manifested her becoming a pop star during an appearance on Amy Poehler's podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler in May, thanks to her name's alliteration. "My mom chose my first and last name to be, well, okay, arguably chose my first and last name to both have [two letter R's]," she recalled. "She was like, 'Alliteration, just in case she wants to be a pop star' before I was born." Though Rapp admitted that her mom's decision was "conceited," she is "obsessed with the way [her mother] did it." "I'm like, thank you, God," she added. Poehler, 53, was impressed with how things came to be. "She gave you a pop star name just in case, because Reneé Rapp is a huge pop star name," the Parks and Recreation star said. Rapp, who released her album Snow Angel in August 2023, told PEOPLE about the inspiration behind the project. "All the songs I write obviously are about things that I've been through personally, but I think that any relationship I've ever had in my life is all culminated into one on this project and in these songs," she said at the time. "This is what I'm going through' thing, which is great, but I think that Snow Angel is a bit more resilient and it's a bit more matter of fact and has a little bit more bite." The Social Network saga isn't over just yet, and the next chapter might have a new face for Mark Zuckerberg. Word is, Jeremy Strong is the frontrunner to play the embattled tech mogul in The Social Network Part II , a follow-up to the acclaimed 2010 film that dove into the turbulent origins of Facebook. According to multiple sources, Strong hasn't officially signed on, but insiders say he's the top pick for the role. Given his Emmy-winning performance in Succession , where he played a character navigating ruthless corporate waters, it's easy to imagine him stepping into Zuckerberg's world of controversy and control. But, I would've still liked to see Jesse Eisenberg reprise the role. This new film, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, isn't a direct sequel but a continuation of the story. Instead of revisiting Facebook's early years, The Social Network Part II will explore more recent events tied to the company now known as Meta. The story is inspired by the Wall Street Journal 's 2021 exposé The Facebook Files by Jeff Horwitz, a hard-hitting series that shed light on Facebook's internal chaos and its impact on users worldwide. Sorkin's decision to return to the Facebook story came after years of weighing how to tackle the next phase. With the script locked and production gaining momentum, Sorkin is teaming up with producers Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser to bring the project to life. It was previously reported that Jeremy Allen White and Mikey Madison are also top choices for major roles. White would portray Horwitz, the journalist behind the Facebook Files , while Madison is being considered for the whistleblower who exposed the inner workings of the social media giant. Back in 2010, The Social Network saw Jesse Eisenberg portray Zuckerberg in a performance that earned him an Oscar nomination.
