New York Jets Unveil Renovated Locker Room With Barbershop and 92 New Lockers

The new-look New York Jets underwent an Extreme Makeover: Locker Room Edition during the offseason.
Players such as star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, cornerback Sauce Gardner and new quarterback Justin Fields reporting for the team's training camp Tuesday were arriving at the Jets' facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, to a fully renovated locker room with some state-of-the-art upgrades.
In a release on its website, which also included a drone-footage tour, the team announced it added 92 customized lockers along with several other amenities, including a barbershop, a larger sauna and a brightly lit 2,000-pound 3D Jets ceiling logo in the middle of the locker room.
The upgrades, which the team said had been in the works for a few years, came after a players poll released by the NFL Players Association in February gave the Jets a D-plus for their locker room, ranking 26th in the league. The team moved into its current facility in 2008. Woody Johnson received an F and was the lowest-ranked owner. The team received an overall ranking of 29th.
"We take pride in having a first-class environment for the players," Robert Mastroddi, the Jets' senior vice president of security and facility operations, told the team's website. "These upgrades will certainly provide more comfort, but they also will help with wellness, efficiency and ultimately performance. There is a commitment to winning and that's where this all derived from."

The Jets, who have the NFL's longest active playoff drought at 14 seasons, have a new general manager in Darren Mougey and head coach in Aaron Glenn. The two revamped the roster this offseason by infusing more youth — moves that included releasing veterans such as Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, C.J. Mosley, Greg Zuerlein and Thomas Morstead.
The new lockers, designed by the Texas-based Longhorn Locker Company, have fully automated video screens — the Jets say they're the first pro or college team to have them — that include the players' headshots, names, hometowns and colleges.
There are also three separate fans to dry their helmets, shoulder pads and cleats in an effort to reduce moisture and lower risks of staph infections.
Mastroddi said the Jets are also the first team to have an on-site barbershop that includes two vintage barber chairs.
"We want to make it comfortable, keep players in the building because they want to be there," Mastroddi said. "We're offering them all the amenities that they would have to go outside to get."

Fields scores in his lone series as Jets open 1st preseason under Glenn by beating Packers 30-10
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Justin Fields ran for a 13-yard touchdown in his lone series and the New York Jets defeated the Green Bay Packers 30-10 on Saturday night in the preseason opener for both teams. New Jets coach Aaron Glenn, the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator, said he wanted to win this game even though it was a mere exhibition. Fields and an opportunistic defense helped make that happen. Fields joined the Jets in March on a two-year, $40 million contract after making a combined 44 starts with the Chicago Bears (2021-23) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2024). He engineered a 10-play, 79-yard drive in his first game with his new team. On third-and-5, Fields ran his way out of a collapsing pocket, made a move to get past Keisean Nixon's diving tackle attempt and got into the right corner of the end zone. Fields also went 3 of 4 through the air for 42 yards, including a 24-yard completion to Andrew Beck. Packers quarterback Jordan Love went 1 of 5 for 7 yards and neither of the two drives he led resulted in any points. Love overthrew Luke Musgrave on a deep route across the middle and a couple of his other passes were dropped. Green Bay's lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter on a 39-yard run from Amar Johnson, a rookie undrafted free agent from South Dakota State. The Jets recorded four sacks and had two takeaways that led to 10 points. In the second quarter, Leonard Taylor got past Sean Rhyan to sack Malik Willis from behind and knock the ball loose. Jay Tufele recovered the fumble in the end zone for a touchdown. Tufele then went to the sideline and handed the ball to Glenn, who gave it right back to him. Mecole Hardman, who's trying to win a roster spot in a crowded Packers receivers room, muffed a punt that New York's Ja'Markis Weston recovered at Green Bay's 9 to set up Harrison Mevis' 22-yard field goal. Mevis was 3 of 3 on field-goal attempts. Green Bay's Brandon McManus made a 46-yarder. With a knee injury sidelining Tyrod Taylor, Brady Cook and Adrian Martinez took over for the Jets at quarterback after Fields' departure. Cook was 3 of 4 for 42 yards. Martinez went 11 of 16 for 152 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown to Stone Smartt. Golden's start Love's only completion was a 7-yarder to rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden. The other time Love threw to Golden, it resulted in a pass interference penalty on two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner. Injuries Packers S Zayne Anderson and CB Corey Ballentine and Jets S Tony Adams left with unspecified injuries. Notable Jets who didn't play due to injuries included WR Xavier Gipson, LG John Simpson, DT Quinnen Williams and TE Mason Taylor. Michael Collodi earns second clean sheet in third career start as Dallas beats Timbers 2-0
FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Petar Musa and defender Lalas Abubakar scored goals, and Michael Collodi earned his second clean sheet in his third career start as FC Dallas beat the Portland Timbers 2-0 on Saturday night. Musa scored his 12th goal, unassisted in the 8th minute to give Dallas (7-11-7) an early lead. Abubakar used an assist from Sebastian Lletget to score in the 62nd minute for a two-goal advantage. It was the first goal this season for Abubakar and the second assist for Lletget, who subbed in for Patrickson Delgado two minutes earlier. Collodi saved three shots in goal for Dallas. Maxime Crépeau did not have a save for the Timbers (10-8-7). Dallas improves to 3-8-2 at home this season in the first meeting between the clubs. Dallas is 11-1-5 all time at home against the Timbers in a series it leads 12-9-10. Portland, which began the day in fifth place in the Western Conference, has won just twice in its last eight matches in league play. The Timbers will host FC Cincinnati on Saturday. Kepler's two-run double lifts Phillies over Rangers 3-2; deGrom drops third straight
Max Kepler had a go-ahead two-run double and the NL East-leading Philadelphia Phillies beat the Texas Rangers 3-2, handing All-Star right-hander Jacob deGrom his third consecutive loss Saturday night. The Phillies went ahead 2-1 after Brandon Marsh had a one-out single in the seventh, Harrison Bader walked and both scored on Kepler's hit into the right-field corner. Bryson Stott greeted reliever Danny Coulombe with an RBI single. Philadelphia lefty Jesús Luzardo (11-5) struck out four and walked one in six innings. The only run he allowed was when Wyatt Langford had the Rangers' third consecutive single in the first. Jhoan Duran, their third reliever, worked a perfect ninth for his third save in as many chances since being acquired from Minnesota at the July 31 trade deadline. He has 19 saves overall. DeGrom (10-5) struck out eight and walked one in 6 2/3 innings. He had allowed five runs in each of his previous two starts, part of a career-worst streak when he gave up homers in six consecutive games. The last time he lost three starts in a row was early 2019 with the New York Mets, the season he won his second consecutive NL Cy Young Award. Corey Seager scored both Texas runs. He had the first hit in the first inning, and led off the eighth with his 17th homer. Rangers slugger Adolis García got thrown out trying to steal third base in the fourth inning right before Jake Burger had a single that likely would have made it 2-0. García had safely dived back into second base on a pickoff move by Luzardo after his one-out double. The Phillies are 30-13 when scoring at least two runs in road games. Zack Wheeler (9-5, 2.64 ERA) tries to reach 10 wins for the fifth consecutive season with the Phillies in the series finale Sunday. Left-hander Patrick Corbin (6-7, 3.91) goes for Texas.
