FC Barcelona continue to move forward with plans to return to the Spotify Camp Nou. Club president Joan Laporta, speaking last Wednesday before the Senate went so far as to give dates.
Laporta confirmed that on 10 August, the stadium would host the Joan Gamper Trophy, with Hansi Flick's side set to face Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas. The first official match, Laporta stated, is planned for September.
Process underway for Camp Nou return
To host the Gamper at the Spotify Camp Nou in August, the club requires several permits and has already begun the process.

On Wednesday of this week, Barcelona submitted the first two applications to the City Council, according to Catalunya Radio (via SPORT).
The council now has two weeks to review the documentation and issue the necessary construction and activity permits.
The next stage involves the District of Les Corts, which will be responsible for granting Barcelona the occupancy permit – required for the opening of any new building or renovation. This step is expected to be completed in two to three weeks.

Two additional permits are still pending: one for the installation of an emergency evacuation walkway in the Maternitat area, and another from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Mossos d'Esquadra.

Barcelona acknowledge that the timeline is tight but remain confident they will meet all deadlines. However, it is increasingly likely that the planned full-capacity stress test – expected to involve around 20,000 people – will not take place.
A smaller test may be conducted instead. Within the club, the Gamper Trophy match is now being viewed as the real-life test ahead of the stadium's official return. The match against Como could be played in front of 35,000 spectators.
If everything proceeds without delays, Barcelona will return to the Spotify Camp Nou after the first international break of the new season. The Catalans have already asked La Liga to play their first three scheduled matches in August away from home.
The return in September will coincide with the start of the Champions League, and matches in the group stage must be played at the same stadium, as required by UEFA.

Barcelona star sends thank you message to Neymar

Barcelona star sends thank you message to Neymar Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal has this week forwarded a public message of appreciation to club legend Neymar Jr. This, for those who may have missed it, comes after the pair came together to enjoy a couple of vacation days in Brazil. Advertisement Wide-man Lamine, now considered one of the standout players in world football, has never been shy in pointing towards Neymar as his idol. The 17-year-old grew up watching the Brazilian light up the Camp Nou, alongside attacking partners in crime Lionel Messi, and Luis Suárez. Afforded some rare time off following the conclusion of Spain's Nations League campaign earlier this month, Lamine, in turn, jetted out to Brazil, to spend some time with Neymar himself. The pair were this week spotted out taking in the sun, playing football, eating, and enjoying the local sights. And as alluded to above, on Saturday, Lamine has moved to send a message of thanks to the ex-Barcelona standout. (Photo by) Despite growing reports from Germany that the Bavarians are planning a renewed offensive for the Athletic Club winger, Barça are not losing sleep as there is quiet confidence at the club that the 22-year-old wants to play for them. Advertisement From Barça's side, there is no confirmed intel about a formal Bayern move. But they know it is realistic that other clubs are circling, after all, Nico has a huge market. Still, what matters most to them is the player's own stance. Bayern reached out to Nico's camp recently but were met with rejection. The winger has been clear in recent talks with Barça – his priority is to join them, play at the new Spotify Camp Nou, and link up with close friend Lamine Yamal. That clarity is what gives Barça confidence. As such, they are calm and unfazed despite claims of Bayern's fresh attempt and are moving forward patiently.

Real Betis eye loan move for Manchester United's Jadon Sancho

Real Betis are weighing up a loan move for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. According to the Spanish club are exploring the loan market again after a successful short-term deal brought Antony to Seville last season. Advertisement Club officials believe manager Manuel Pellegrini could work similar wonders with Sancho in a less pressurised environment. Sancho, 25, is due back at United on 1 July, with Chelsea opting not to make his loan move permanent. The London side failed to reach agreement over personal terms, despite the deal including an obligation to buy worth up to £25 million. During his season-long stay, Sancho helped Chelsea secure fourth place in the Premier League and scored in the UEFA Conference League final, ironically against Betis. His contribution improved his reputation after a difficult start to life at United. Advertisement Post-match comments suggested Sancho was open to remaining at Stamford Bridge. 'From now on is when we sit down with the club and decide about next year,' he told TNT Sports after the final in Athens. Despite Chelsea's appreciation for Sancho's role in a strong finish to the campaign, the financial terms of a permanent deal proved prohibitive. That opens the door for clubs like Betis, who are hoping United will sanction another temporary move. Sancho joined United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £85 million, but has struggled for consistency. A high-profile falling out with Erik ten Hag saw him exiled from the first-team squad before his loan switch in August. Advertisement He has made 83 appearances for United, scoring 12 goals, but his career in Manchester has been defined more by potential than output. Moments of brilliance — such as goals against Tottenham and Ipswich, have been the exception rather than the rule. A loan move to Betis would give Sancho the chance to reset in a competitive but less intense setting. The La Liga side see the England international as a potentially transformative figure under Pellegrini's guidance. With United open to finding a solution for a player on high wages and Sancho eager to play regularly, Betis' interest could soon turn into a formal proposal. Follow us on Bluesky: @
