WASHINGTON COUNTY, Mo. – A young girl is dead and three other people are injured following a pickup truck crash on a rural Missouri highway Monday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's crash report, the crash happened at 7:50 a.m. on Highway 21 near Woodhaven Road in Washington County.
The highway patrol said a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500 was traveling northbound on the highway when the truck went off the west side of the roadway, struck a mailbox, and then smashed into a tree.

A six-year-old girl was pronounced dead just after 9:15 a.m. at Washington County Memorial Hospital. A four-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy suffered minor and moderate injuries, respectively.
The driver, a 25-year-old Cadet man, suffered moderate injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The three children were wearing their seat belts when the crash occurred, the report said.
