In her latest vlog, filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan took her viewers to the house of veteran actor Boman Irani, who has the most beautiful house that exudes old-world charm. Boman has merged two big flats to make the house of his dreams. The two flats are connected with a corridor from within the house, which is decorated with several aesthetic paintings and a memory wall with pictures of his family members from different phases of their lives.
The house includes a huge living room, which is decorated with green and white couches, beautiful paintings and marble flooring. The living room leads to a den, which is nothing but a space dedicated to cinema, where the family watches movies. On the other side of the corridor is a beautiful dining room that looks like it's straight out of an English film.
As soon as Farah enters the house, she gasps, 'This is beautiful.'
Boman Irani gives her a tour of the house and shares the backstory of the several paintings hanging on the walls of his house. He has a painting from Satish Gujaral, a renowned painter and the younger brother of former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral.
Among the many paintings, Boman also introduces Farah to a painting by food vlogger Kunal Vijjayakar. A shocked Farah says, 'This one? I thought this was Hussain.' An impressed Farah says, 'Too good ya.'
Taking Farah to a different corner of the house, Boman reveals, 'We watch movies here.' Farah then points at the 'extra long sofa' and says, 'Please do not miss this.' She adds, 'He has this extra long sofa because he has a huge family.' Boman adds, 'So big that sometimes we have to put extra chairs to for everyone to fit.' He then says, 'This is like our little auditorium.'
They then head to the actor's kitchen, which Farah Khan calls 'London ka Kitchen' due to its Victorian design and choice of wallpaper. Farah says, 'Your kitchen is so beautiful, Zenobia.' She jokes, 'Did you get it renovated before inviting me?'
Zenobia shares they got their kitchen renovated about two years ago. Boman says, 'You visited our house then.' Farah says, 'But, I didn't visit your kitchen that time.'
Boman always wanted a smaller home. However, it was actor Anil Kapoor who encouraged him to buy something bigger.
In an interview with Asian Paints Where The Heart Is in 2019, Boman Irani shared, 'That was kind of the time I signed Munna Bhai MBBS. So I started calculating how much my EMI would be and I was muttering to myself for weeks. Anil Kapoor saw me on the sets and said, 'What are you thinking?' I said, 'I am falling short big-time on buying a flat.' He said, 'Just buy it.' I said I don't have the money and he said, 'Money will come. You can't buy square feet later. You can buy furniture. Sleep on the floor but buy the flat.' And that's how we ended up buying this place which has become our home, friend, mother whatever you would like to call it for about 14 years now.'
Boman Irani tasted success in his 40s when he appeared in the films Darna Mana Hai and Munna Bhai MBBS.

Vivek Agnihotri calls Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga his alter-ego & fearless, says he is showing truth through his films: ‘Does your society respect women?'

Vivek Agnihotri praised Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and Sandeep Reddy Vanga for their contribution to the cinema and also defended the latter's way of storytelling. read more Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who is currently gearing up for the release of The Delhi Files and is known for expressing his thoughts in the most unfiltered way possible, spoke about three popular filmmakers - Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and Sandeep Reddy Vanga in an appreciative way. The Kashmir Files helmer praised the trio for their contributions to cinema and also defended Sandeep Reddy Vanga's storytelling approach. 'I really want to praise Karan Johar because he changed the commerciability of commercial cinema. He took it to a different scale. And just like how I am the brand ambassador of my films, he is the ambassador of his films. He is the face of Dharma Productions," Vivek told Humans of Bombay. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Earlier, he used to be introduced as a fashion diva and anchor. But, he is a personality to look up to. Secondly, he took his father's business from a boutique production house to a mass production house. He has also given breaks to several talented film directors—Ayan Mukerji, Shashank Khaitan. He has also given break to several stars and star kids. He has created shows for television and OTT. He even changed the scale of award shows by being an anchor. He has done a lot of great things," he added. Crediting Anurag Kashyap for reviving the independent cinema, Vivek said, 'Before him, it was Shyam Benegal, Govind Nihalani and Prakash Jha. But they too turned into commercial directors. But Anurag has fought a war and he has given break to several small-town boys and girls. He has instilled confidence in people whose war was with English. Today, they believe even they are capable of doing something in life. Several talented people have come from Anurag—both filmmakers, and actors." 'Despite all these achievements, I personally believe he has not exploited his full potential. Maybe due to his own complexities, he is yet to exploit his full potential. He took a flight, up and quick, and then there was no conclusion to that. He couldn't take his own success to a logical conclusion," he added. The filmmaker then spoke about Sandeep Reddy Vanga and called the Kabir Singh and Animal director his alter ego. 'Sandeep Reddy Vanga is more like my alter ego in the industry. Just like me he speaks fearlessly," Vivek shared. He also defended Vanga's vision and storytelling and added, 'People question Sandeep Reddy Vanga for toxic masculinity, but what is really happening in the society? Isn't it the truth? Does your society respect women? It is just his storytelling. He is showing the world to the people from his point of view." STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The Tashkent Files helmer later drew comparisons of his films with Shekhar Kapur's Bandit Queen and said, 'Many asked me 'Why did you not show the film from the other point of view?' How can I do that? Why will I show the film from a terrorist's point of view? And how will I even make an attempt at it when I don't even know how they see the world? Even Shekhar Kapur was questioned when he made Bandit Queen from Phoolan Devi's perspective. But, over a period of time, people realised that Bandit Queen was right. After Pahalgam attack, people realised Kashmir Files was right. I am not claiming that I believe in Vanga. I am just saying he has the right to tell stories from his point of view. People who are abusing him, are also using their right. But, at the end of the day, he is laughing looking at his bank." STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Actor Shanavas, son of Malayalam cinema's all-time greatest superstar Prem Nazir, passes away

Malayalam actor Shanavas, the son of one of Indian cinema's earliest and most popular superstars, Prem Nazir, has passed away at the age of 71. He had been undergoing treatment for kidney and heart-related ailments for many years. Shanavas breathed his last at a private hospital in the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram, late on Monday evening. Born in Thiruvananthapuram as the son of Prem Nazir and his wife Habeeba Beevi, Shanavas obtained a master's degree in English literature from The New College, Chennai, before venturing into cinema. Subsequently, he made his debut in filmmaker Balachandra Menon's Prema Geethangal (1981). Although this was Nazir's final decade in cinema, after having reigned over the industry for 30 years, he was highly active at the time Shanavas made his debut. Despite the emergence of many new talents in Malayalam cinema during this period, Nazir's position remained unshaken in the hearts of film lovers, which indirectly helped Shanavas gain attention. In the subsequent years, Shanavas worked in movies headlined by legends such as his father Prem Nazir, 'Hitmaker' Sasikumar, MG Soman, Sreekumaran Thampi, Ambareesh, Srividya, Sukumaran, Madhu, Silk Smitha, Joshiy and T Damodaran. He also appeared in films such as Koritharicha Naal, Gaanam, Ivan Oru Simham, Rathilayam and Himam. Although he played notable parts in quite a few movies, Shanavas never managed to leave a lasting impact. #PremNazir with wife Habiba Beevi and children Shanavas, Laila Rasiya and Reetha. — Prem Nazir – A life in Images (@PremNazirology) May 13, 2020 By the mid-1980s, his career had begun to dry up and offers declined significantly. Following 1991, Shanavas took a long hiatus that lasted over two decades. He later made a comeback in the early 2010s, and appeared in movies like China Town, Oridathoru Postman and Kanyakumari Express, headlined by stars like Mohanlal, Jayaram, Dileep, Suresh Gopi, Kunchacko Boban and R Sarathkumar. Shanavas was last seen in director Dijo Jose Antony's Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu-starrer Jana Gana Mana (2022). Besides movies, he also worked in several television serials like Shankhumukham, Velutha Kathreena, Kadamatathu Kathanar and Sathyameva Jayathe. Shanavas is survived by his wife Ayesha Abdul Aziz, sons Ajith Khan and Shameer Khan, and daughter-in-law Hana, OnManorama reported. His funeral will be held at the Palayam Muslim Jamaath Cemetery on Tuesday evening.
