Fox Sports' Joel Klatt predicts strong Michigan football rebound in 2025

There are some who are giving Michigan football some preseason accolades, but generally speaking, the Wolverines are flying under the radar. However, perhaps the most notable pundit in college football thinks this could be a big bounce-back year for the maize and blue.
Fox Sports' premier color commentator, Joel Klatt, revealed his top 25 teams in the preseason on his podcast last week, and he has a fair amount of optimism on the Wolverines. So much so, he has Michigan at No. 10 in his preseason top 25.
"Here's the Michigan Wolverines at No. 10," Klatt said. "This team figured things out at the end of the year. They beat Ohio State. They beat Alabama basically without an offense. And they did it with an offense that threw the ball better than only what three teams in the country -- and all three of those teams were service academies. There's no way they can be that bad throwing the ball again.
"Wink Martindale, their defensive coordinator, he figured out what worked with his players as the season went along, and they became, in the back half of the year and in particular over the last four games, the best defense in the country. That should continue. They bring in new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey. I'm interested to see how that works out. I'm not totally sure. Will we see Bryce Underwood at quarterback? Is it going to be Mikey Keene, the Fresno transfer? He missed all of spring practice with an injury. So Underwood got all of those reps. Keene does have experience, by the way. 34 career starts. He played in Lindsey's offense at UCF. I know they're going to have to replace some really talented players, in particular on the defensive front seven. But remember, without those players on the defensive front seven, without Will Johnson on the edge, they handled Alabama just fine. And that was an Alabama offense that still had Milroe, that still had Ryan Williams, and was playing at full capacity.
"Michigan should be better. Their schedule is not that bad. And if you look at that, the Oklahoma game is really the barometer. They're going to go travel to Norman, Oklahoma. And if they win that game, then watch out. This is a CFP team. If not, we'll see. Then the big question mark becomes Sherrone Moore suspension. Right now, he is going to be on a self-imposed suspension for the third and fourth game of the season. Will it be more? Will the NCAA suspend him even further? Possibly, possibly, as the time at the time that we're recording this, that has not happened yet. But even if they do, even if it is for like, let's say three games. And it's got to be the first three. Like this is a program that has shown that they can get over that. I don't think that is a game-ender for them, to be quite honest with you.
"So Michigan is going to be in the top 10."
That Oklahoma game should tell a lot, even if the Sooners are coming off a 6-7 season. With a night game on the road in a tough environment, the first-ever regular-season road SEC game for the Wolverines will be a tough test, even if OU isn't quite at the same standard as they were when they were in the Big 12. If Michigan gets the win in Norman, that would be a similar boost to getting past Washington in Week 2 in 2021, with the Nebraska game playing a similar role to Wisconsin from that same year.

Everything Tudor and Cambiaso said after Dortmund 1-2 Juventus victory

Juventus head coach Igor Tudor admits that it is difficult to properly analyse pre-season friendlies, but is pleased by the attitude that he saw from his players during their 2-1 victory over Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. A brace from Italy international Andrea Cambiaso handed victory to the Bianconeri, who impressed with their performance at Signal Iduna Park. Everything Tudor and Cambiaso said after Dortmund 1-2 Juventus Juventus have had a quick turnaround between the FIFA Club World Cup that took place earlier this summer, and the start of the 2025-26 Serie A season, and Tudor admits that his players are still lacking in some fitness-related elements of the game. 'It's hard to analyse friendlies, there's still some freshness and speed in the legs missing. But the boys did well,' Tudor said after full-time on Sunday. 'It was a good session for us, and a serious match. Now we'll work on playing time, focus on Wednesday and Atalanta, and then we'll get started. There's not a lot of time left and we need to start thinking about Serie A. 'The important thing today was that nobody got injured, so that's good. Winning doesn't matter much, it's important to show the right attitude, to be in the right condition and prepare as best we can for the important games.' Tudor was joined in the Juventus press room by double goalscorer Cambiaso, who said: 'We played a serious game, and we're happy because we've had a great week here in Germany. We trained really well and we ended it with a good game. 'My objective is to be more decisive in the opponents' area. Playing a bit higher up, I can be more incisive [like today]. I'm starting my third year with Juventus and I'm very proud, I want to be important for the team and for my teammates. He wants us to understand that every competition is important, because we're Juventus and we always have to give our all, in every game. 'I'm happy to see [Gleison] Bremer finding fitness again and I'm sure he'll give us a huge hand.' Juventus will next be in action against Atalanta in their next pre-season friendly, before taking on Parma in their first Serie A match of the 2025-26 campaign.

Lookman has dug in his heels and done everything he can to show that he doesn't want to stay at the club. Nevertheless, Atalanta have played things close to the chest so far. There has been no sign of the Bergamo club relenting despite Lookman trying to force their hands. However, reports Tuttosport, Inter ultimately believe that time is on their side. The last thing Atalanta want is to go into the last week or two of the transfer window with no resolution to this transfer saga. Therefore, Tuttosport reports, Inter expect that at a certain point, the Bergamo club will take a more open and conciliatory stance in negotiations.

Former Premier League winner dreams of playing for Real Madrid

Former Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has revealed that, despite his long career across Europe, one dream still remains unfulfilled – playing for Real Madrid. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 34-year-old was asked if there was anything left on his football bucket list. His answer was simple and direct: 'Playing for Real Madrid.' Balotelli, who joined Serie A club Genoa on a free transfer in 2024, only made six appearances during the 2024/25 season. Currently without a club, the Italian forward is open about his ambitions and the fact that he still holds the dream of wearing the famous white shirt of Los Blancos. For Real Madrid fans, it is a reminder of the club's unmatched pull in world football – able to capture the imagination of top players even after their prime. Connection with Barcelona Interestingly, Balotelli also has a brief past with Barcelona. At just 15, he had a trial with the Blaugrana before ultimately signing for Inter Milan. He recalls that period fondly, especially the talented group he played alongside. Mario Balotelli dreams of playing for Real Madrid. (Photo by) 'I had a dream there, during that time I spent in Barcelona before going to Inter,' he said. 'That team was wonderful, with the Dos Santos brothers (Giovanni and Jonathan), Thiago Alcantara, Bojan … We played with freedom. 'They only taught us technique: control and quick passing, no tactics. It was a joy to go out onto the field, that team was incredible, we won 15-0.' While Balotelli's memories of Barcelona are positive, his heart now seems fixed on Real Madrid. The Italian's words highlight how the prestige and history of Los Blancos continue to inspire even those who have experienced the magic of other big clubs. For now, judging by the look of things, Balotelli's dream if playing for Real Madrid will remain unfulfilled considering the current state of affairs.
