Sarawak to host Green Mobility Summit on Sept 8 and 9
Themed 'Driving the Future: Talent, Innovation & Sustainability in Green Mobility', the summit will be jointly organised by the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) and Sarawak Skills.
'The event is set to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, educators and innovators from across the region to share expertise, foster collaboration and promote the development of sustainable transportation solutions,' the organisers said in a statement today.
This event reflects an urgent need for forward-looking strategies to develop a greener, more sustainable transport ecosystem across Southeast Asia.
It serves as a key component of the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025 initiative, which seeks to enhance regional connectivity and sustainable development through eco-friendly practices, climate resilience and smart city initiatives.
In the statement, Sarawak Skills executive director Hallman Sabri said the summit's significance lies in its potential to nurture talent for sustainable transportation, a shared regional goal under BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025.
'Therefore, the summit serves as an essential platform for aligning strategies, building competencies and fostering regional cooperation in the transition toward a green economy,' he said.
Featuring over 30 distinguished speakers and moderators, discussions will revolve around the subjects of talent development, innovative technologies, governance and global collaboration.
The summit is also aligned with Sarawak's Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which prioritises a green economy and showcases the state's leadership in hydrogen fuel technology, electric vehicle infrastructure and smart city development.

Pfizer reports strong Q2 revenue
NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced its second-quarter earnings on Tuesday, reporting a 10 percent year over year operational growth. The financial results posted by the New York-headquartered company represent revenue of 14.7 billion U.S. dollars or 0.51 dollars of earnings per share. Muhyiddin denies defending subsidies for foreigners
PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said the coalition's fundamental policy on subsidies has always been that they should be for Malaysians, not foreigners. PETALING JAYA : Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin has denied defending the distribution of government subsidies to foreigners, urging Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to furnish proof he had ever made such a statement. In a video posted on Facebook, Muhyiddin said Anwar's claim that he had made such a remark was slanderous. 'I have never said such a thing. From the beginning, our fundamental policy on subsidies has been that they are meant for Malaysians, not foreigners. 'I want to ask where Anwar read or heard that (purported statement), because there's definitely none. 'What was the source, and was it genuine or fake?' asked the Bersatu president. Earlier today, Sinar Harian quoted Anwar as saying that Muhyiddin had questioned the government for burdening foreigners when they had also made significant contributions to the country. The prime minister said the government had decided on targeted subsidies for electricity and RON95 petrol so that they could continue helping Malaysians while reducing the nation's fiscal deficit.

Southeast Asia Youth Join Global Innovation Movement at Xiamen University Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - Media OutReach Newswire - 5 August 2025 - The final competition and award ceremony of the Southeast Asia Division Contest of China International College Students' Innovation Competition (SEA-CICSIC) 2025 and Malaysia-China Youth Innovation Competition (MCYIC) 2025 concluded successfully at Xiamen University Malaysia on 20 July 2025, bringing together young innovators from all over the Southeast Asia region to present and compete with their innovation ideas and projects.
