Jennifer Aniston's alleged stalker has been found mentally incompetent to stand trial.
The former 'Friends' star was not in court in Hollywood on Thursday to hear that psychiatrist Dr. Phani Tumu had examined Jimmy Wayne Carwyle - who is accused of ramming his car into the front gate of the actress' home in Bel Air - and felt he was "currently incompetent to stand trial".
However, Deputy Public Defender Robert Krauss told Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Maria Cavalluzzi that the 48-year-old defendant was asking for a "second opinion", as is his right.
The judge appointed a second psychiatrist, Dr. Kory Knapke, to examine Carwyle and another hearing will take place next week.
The man is charged with one felony count of stalking and one of vandalism, along with an aggravating circumstance of the threat of great bodily harm.
At a hearing earlier this month, a not guilty plea was entered by Deputy Public Defender Toral Malik but she questioned his mental competency.

Carwyle has been remanded in custody since the incident at Jennifer's home on 5 May and is accused of having harassed the 'Morning Show' actress since March 2023 by sending "unwanted social media, voicemail and email messages." The judge has ordered him not to contact or go anywhere near the 56-year-old star.
Although Jennifer was at home at the time her gates were struck, she didn't come into contact with anyone and the man was stopped in her driveway until police arrived at the scene.
A public information officer from the Los Angeles Police Department told PEOPLE: "There was a security guard on premises who was able to detain that suspect until officers arrived, at which time they took him into custody without incident.
"The resident was home at the time."
The authorities noted that while the suspect has sustained minor injuries, no one else was hurt in the incident.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman previously vowed to "aggressively prosecute" stalkers.

He said in a statement: "My office is committed to aggressively prosecuting those who stalk and terrorise others, ensuring they are held accountable."

And with that, Judge Cavalluzzi said from the bench, 'The court finds that the defendant is not presently competent to stand trial. Criminal proceedings are suspended.' An 'interest of justice' hearing was scheduled for June 26 when Aniston or her attorney Blair Berk will be able to provide impact statements. A more detailed report on Carwyle will be compiled by independent analyst Dr. Tumu at a cost of $1,100 to determine how to proceed with treatment for him. But FBI Deputy Director Don Bongino, appointed by US President, Donald Trump, in March says that he plans to release prison video of Epstein that confirms the billionaire financier and convicted sex offender killed himself. But when asked if the video showed Epstein taking his own life, he admitted it didn't. 'There is video,' Bongino told Fox & Friends. 'You are going to see there is no one there but him... there is video clear as day, he's the only person in there and the only person coming out.' Epstein, 66, was awaiting trial on federal conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. 'I say to people, if you have a tip, let us know,' Bongino, a former conservative talk show host, said. 'But there's no DNA, there's no audio, there's no fingerprints, there's no suspects, there's no accomplices, there's no tips. There is nothing. If you have it, I'm happy to see it.' Bongino said his office was 'working on cleaning' up the video. 'There is going to be a disclosure on this coming shortly. We will give the original, so you don't think there were any shenanigans.' When asked if the video would include Epstein killing himself, Bongino responded that the video doesn't show 'the actual act.' Epstein was accused of molesting multiple teenaged girls at his Palm Beach mansion. Investigators claimed that Epstein would lure teen girls to his home by paying them to massage him. During the massages, he would allegedly assault the teens, force them to have sex with him and offer them money to bring him other underage girls to assault. Many of his alleged victims spoke to Lifetime for Surviving Jeffrey Epstein, a four-hour miniseries on the financier's alleged crimes. Virginia Giuffre, who said she was recruited by Epstein's friend Ghislaine Maxwell, said in one of the first two episodes that the first time she was abused by Epstein, Maxwell assisted. Giuffre committed suicide at the age of 41 at her farm outside Perth, Australia, on Thursday, April 24. That suicide is also subject to speculation after her father claimed 'somebody got to her'. Giuffre received a multi-million dollar payout from Prince Andrew as a settlement after she accused him of having sex with her, which he denies. Epstein was arrested in July 2019 for allegedly sex trafficking girls as young as 14. He died almost a month after his arrest. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison at Florida Correctional Institution-Tallahassee on June 28, 2022. In addition to her prison sentence, she was fined $750,000.

A judge declared on Thursday that a man is mentally incompetent to stand trial on charges of stalking Jennifer Aniston and crashing his car through her front gate. The move in a Los Angeles County mental health court came after a second psychiatrist examined the defendant, Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, and reached the same conclusion as the first: that his mental health would not allow him to answer to felony charges of vandalism and stalking of the Friends star. 'The court finds the defendant is not currently competent to stand trial,' judge Maria Cavalluzzi said. 'Criminal proceedings will remain suspended.' Carwyle, 48, of Mississippi, has pleaded not guilty. He appeared behind glass in a custody area of the courtroom and did not speak. He looked vastly different than his previous two court hearings. His scraggly gray hair and beard had been shorn, and he was wearing bright yellow county jail clothing after previously appearing with bare shoulders, wrapped in a blanket-like smock meant for suicide prevention. Carwyle had argued that he is competent and exercised his right to a second opinion after an initial incompetence finding last week. 'It's not the outcome my client would have preferred,' deputy public defender Robert Krauss told the judge. A conviction on the charges, along with an aggravating circumstance of the threat of great bodily harm, could bring up to three years in prison for Carwyle. The incompetence finding has no set end date but it is temporary and the standard criminal process could resume later. Cavalluzzi ordered more comprehensive mental evaluations to help determine where and how he will be held and what his treatment will be. The judge will get a report on the results at a hearing on 26 June, where Aniston or her attorney will be allowed to share her perspective on the case. Aniston's lawyer, Blair Berk, was in the courtroom observing on Thursday but did not speak. Berk and the deputy district attorney handling the case declined to comment outside court. Prosecutors allege Carwyle had been harassing Aniston with a flood of voicemail, email and social media messages for two years before driving his Chrysler PT Cruiser through the gate of her home in the wealthy Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles on 5 May, causing major damage. A security guard stopped him in her driveway until police arrived. Authorities said Aniston was home at the time but did not come into contact and no one was injured. Aniston became one of television's biggest stars in her 10 years on NBC's Friends, from 1994 until 2004.
