Man Utd introduce state-of-the-art technology to help Ruben Amorim keep tabs on ‘lazy' stars

The Sun05-08-2025
RUBEN AMORM will use state-of-the-art technology to find out who isn't pulling their weight at Manchester United.
The Portuguese gaffer has been nothing short of ruthless since replacing Erik ten Hag at the Old Trafford helm.

Amorim has already banished Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
And he could be set to add a few more names to his "bomb squad" thanks to the implementation of the most elite fitness apparatus.
Amorim's troops will this season wear STATSports' Apex 2.0 GPS performance tracker vests during training and in matches to keep tabs on their respective outputs.
The trackers will provide "real-time kinematics" to the former Sporting Lisbon boss and his staff with a whopping FIVE MILLION data points over a 90-minute period.
The tracker is said to be 100 PER CENT accurate, meaning anyone deemed to be not pulling their weight will have no leg to stand on.
STATSports managing director Paul McKernan told The Telegraph: "You can make decisions on the players based on data you see in front of you.
"Not waiting until after the session and downloading the data and saying 'I wish Mason Mount had run a little bit further or done a few more sprints, or actually he did too much today."
The writing is seemingly on the wall for any of the remaining stragglers, which Luke Shaw recently claimed are no longer present, in the Red Devils squad.
Amorim said: 'If you don't train in the right way, I have footage to show you.
"And I show you in front of everybody. So I'm always on top [of the players].
"I will expect to be in one phase – that I don't need to do anything because they will push each other.
'But if you train bad one time, I will you show the image in the moment.
"I will not speak with you, I will just speak. I will show you everything.'
Amorim will be hoping his new six-man leadership team, which comprises of skipper Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, Tom Heaton and Harry Maguire, will crack the whip on their under-performing team-mates this season.
United, who ended the 2024/25 season in 15th place, will kick off their new domestic campaign at home to Arsenal a week on Sunday.

'This is the biggest rebuild in the league'

After such a disappointing performance it is hard not to I can't really decide whether to be angrier at the terrible penalty decision or the inability to create anything on the fully deserved the win. Everton had no flair, creativity or drive going season has approached with a fair amount of promise. Very rarely has a signing excited the Everton fans the way Jack Grealish has, and unlike his predecessor's talk of an impending relegation battle last year, David Moyes has refreshingly spoken of wanting to challenge the top end of the table - not the a new ground that looks fit for challengers for European football, there really are some reasons to be yet, the gaps in the squad are glaringly obvious. This is the biggest rebuild in the league. In all fairness to him, the manager has made that very began the game at Leeds with no recognised left or right-back (and the left-back they did buy was not even in the squad). On paper, the team lacks serious firepower and depth compared with Premier League rivals.A right-winger, right-back, a defensive midfielder and, to some extent, even a striker are what this team needs as a bare minimum to move transfer window continues to be a major source of anxiety for the fanbase, with a new recruitment team failing to inspire confidence in their first real is ticking before the window shuts. Ashvir Singh Johal takes charge at Morecambe and becomes first British Sikh to manage in England's top five leagues

Ashvir Singh Johal has become the first British Sikh to take charge of a men's team in the top five leagues of English football. Morecambe FC confirmed him as manager two days after the approval of its takeover by consortium Panjab Warriors - and a day after previous boss Derek Adams was sacked. It said it marked an "exciting new era for the Shrimps as the club continues its journey under fresh ownership and renewed ambition". The National League side said Johal had "a wealth of experience in player development, tactical innovation, and building high-performance cultures". The 30-year-old spent a decade at Leicester City's academy - where he coached under-7s through to under-18s - and in 2022 joined Kolo Toure's Wigan as first-team coach for the senior team. He also previously worked with Cesc Fabregas at Italian side Como. "The immediate priority right now is going to be to identify the players that we need in this building to ensure Morecambe Football Club can perform well in the National League," said Johal. The Lancashire side has been at risk of closure and it was suspended by the National League due to financial problems that have seen players, staff, creditors and the taxman go unpaid. However, Morecambe's new owners said the debts would be paid by Wednesday. Their delayed season opener is scheduled to be at home against Altrincham on Saturday. Morecambe were relegated from League Two (the fourth tier) last season.
