Instead, it is stronger and more compressed near the Sun's poles, especially during periods of low solar activity known as "solar minimum."This is linked to the faster, more forceful outflows of solar wind at the poles during these times. Conversely, the shock is weaker along the flanks, likely due to solar wind slowing as it interacts with more mass before reaching this the data also show a north-south asymmetry in the heliosphere, shaped by complex changes in the Sun's magnetic structure. These differences are driven by the evolution of polar coronal holes, regions where the Sun's magnetic field opens into space, allowing solar wind to escape more the most exciting chapter is just beginning.
