Rhyl Journal8 hours ago

The concert, on June 26, marked the opening of the Pavilion's summer season of live music.
At the encore, Spiteri, lead singer and frontwoman of the Scottish rock band, paused to remember the Welsh rocker, who died from blood cancer aged 66 on April 29.
"Before we start this song, the last time I was here with my husband Bryn was with a very special couple and very special man, Mr Mike Peters," she said, prompting a round of applause from the audience.
She went on to say: "He was a true gentleman, a great musician, a great songwriter. He was one of the kindest, truest people that I have to say I've ever met.
"He always wore his heart on his sleeve and will be very sadly missed."
Spiteri, who has been awarded an honorary doctorate for her services to music, then dedicated a rendition of Suspicious Minds to his memory.
She said to the crowd: "If you don't know if the first two chords, go home! Because you need to love this."
Posting on Facebook after the concert, Jules, Mike's wife, said: "Today has been quite the day, topped off by the perfect Sharleen Spiteri tribute tonight to our darling Michael Peters
"Thank you Texas! You Rock!

"Live Today. Love Tomorrow."
It's been 36 years since Texas first stormed the music scene with their debut hit I Don't Want A Lover.
At the packed out concert, the band delivered a powerful 90-minute set packed with fan favourites, including Halo, Hi, In Our Lifetime, Summer Son, Say What You Want, and Black Eyed Boy. Between songs, Spiteri charmed the crowd with her trademark wit and effortless rapport, adding a personal touch to an already electric night.
The music legends were supported by Rianne Downey, a Scottish singer-songwriter.
The concert series coincides with the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, which begins on July 8.
Texas were the first of 13 headline acts set to perform at the North Wales venue. Other confirmed headliners include Rag'n'Bone Man, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, James, The Script, Olly Murs, and The Human League.
The concerts are part of a collaboration between Live Nation promoters Cuffe and Taylor and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod.
TK Maxx Presents Live at Llangollen Pavilion continues on Friday (June 28) with headliner Rag'n'Bone Man. The triple BRIT Award and Ivor Novello Award winner will be joined by blues star Elles Bailey.

Axed Love Island bombshell takes a swipe at the show after brutal dumping

Personal trainer Will Means arrived as a sleepover bombshell and pursued Welsh beauty Emily Moran in the other villa. As a result, Will was sent home, along with bombshells Caprice and Poppy, neither of whom were picked by villa boys Dejon Williams and Remell Mullings. Back in the other villa, Shea Mannings was dumped after Helena Ford chose to recouple with new boy Gio Russo. Now back in the UK, Will shared a selfie on Instagram and wrote: "Just got my phone back. "First thoughts are I was shafted with my Love Island pictures [laughing emojis]. "Thank you for all the messages. Will go through them next couple of days." The departures are continuing to come thick and fast with another two Islanders already out the door. In scenes that will air tonight, the least popular boy and girl, as voted by the public, were dumped. While The Sun is not naming the duo to preserve the surprise, fans will be rocked by the departures. We can reveal the girl is an OG who has been at the centre of plenty of drama this series and will be much missed by all. Love Island fans convinced couple secretly had sex after steamy bed scenes at night Meanwhile, in a further clue, the lad could be considered a 'cheat' for his antics in the villa. A source said: 'Couples have been in constant flux this series and there's a good few that have been accused of 'cheating' with secret snogs leading to explosive rows. 'Conor and Megan have just caused chaos with their Hideaway stay over and terrace smooches, while Harry and Helena first got that ball rolling in the first week. 'Remell was trouble in the sleepover too and even Shakira has got up to some illicit snogging. 'It could be anyone so bosses are hoping viewers have fun speculating what's gone down before the big reveal.' 4 Will was dumped at the end of the sleepover Credit: Eroteme

Music while you dine ... the train's band serenades passengers Passengers will board over a red carpet laid across the platform at Waverley Station before being handed their first glass of champagne. Then after snacking on caviar and canapes, they will tuck into a sumptuous seven-course meal with wine. 17 of Scotland's most popular lost nightclubs and music venues

This retro photo gallery celebrates some of Scotland's best ever clubs, which are sorely missed by the generations of revellers who enjoyed many legendary nights out there over the years. These atmospheric images take you from the 1960s right up to the noughties, allowing you to relive your best clubbing days, should they be behind you. The clubs featured include a famous beachfront venue which was Scotland's biggest nightclub; a favourite haunt of Fran Healy, before he hit the big time with Travis; and a popular roller disco. Many big acts have played at these venues over the years, from the Sugababes and Ian Van Dahl to the Ramones and the Clash. How many of these Scottish nightclubs have you visited, and what do you think is the best nightclub Scotland has ever had, past or present? 1 . The Shack The Shack was a bit of a misnomer for this popular Glasgow nightclub, which was housed in a rather grand former church building. It was popular during the early noughties before sadly being destroyed in a fire in 2004. The venue was also known as Cardinal Follies and The Temple before it became The Shack. The Sugababes are pictured performing there in March 2001. | TSPL Photo: Allan Milligan Photo Sales 2 . Eros Elite The Eros Elite superclub in Edinburgh's Fountainbridge district was a huge 3,000-capacity venue which attracted big names including Ian Van Dahl and Dee Dee. It opened in 1999 but didn't last long before closing in 2004, despite many clubbers having fond memories of the 'best nights' there. | Contributed Photo: Contributed Photo Sales 3 . Dennistoun Palais The Dennistoun Palais de Danse, better known by its less formal moniker the Denny Pally, was a Glasgow institution. It originally opened in 1922 but was destroyed by fire in 1936 and rebuilt. When it reopened in 1938, it was the biggest dance hall in Glasgow, with a capacity of 1,800, and it boasted a sprung floor and a ceiling decorated with stars. The Palais remained a popular dance hall for many years before being converted into the Rollarena roller skating venue in the mid-60s. | Glasgow City Archives Photo: Glasgow City Archives Photo Sales 4 . Cinderellas Rockerfellas Cinderellas Rockerfellas, in Edinburgh's Stockbridge district, was a popular nightclub during the 80s and 90s. Some people recalled coming a cropper and taking a tumble on the club's famous raised dance floor. It was previously home to Tiffany's. | TSPL Photo: Bill Stout Photo Sales
